This is a two part set of questions. Since I'm toying with some custom classes and races though, one may afffect the other in the end.

1) Can I disable HiPs as a feat serverside only? IE, if I remove it there, will it not show up for new SDs IG? *has a hope this is true* If so, then I can use a widget to restore it later as I desire. If players will require the changes themselves, then I'll just address it as part of my second question's end result.

2) I'm looking into adding new races or actually dividing present ones into sub-races with proper racial feats and ability bonuses/penalties. The reason for this is that I hope it'll allow me to leave ELC turned on. Since haks aren't loaded during character creation normally, would preloading it using the patch method work and will I then be able to keep ELC turned on?

1) I believe you can by adjusting the feat file for that class. I've seen other servers do something similar, either granting it on a later level or as you said, making a widget or similar that allowed its use.

2) Uncertain. I know WSI has done something similar but we use Shayan's subrace system. It does work with the ELC turned on I can say so it is possible...just not sure for the way you are mentioning or not.

On number two I can answer from my many failed attempts and finally looking for the answer...here is what Funky said on it which explains it better than any thing I can right...

Any server that uses nwnx_leto or another version of character editing to make any significant changes to characters has to use scripted ELC, because such changes violate character legality, yes. It's just as well, however, since bioware's ELC is not particularly airtight - especially on levelup. Why on earth they used clientside 2das for levelup and initial creation, I will never understand.

So no it is not. You can not have enforce legal character on.

On number one it is easily doable server side only by moving it to a later taken date though all current SDs or those with HiPs will not be effected.

OK .. so for my own and another PW I'm helping, we should be able to remove HiPs as a feat serverside only and any future SDs will then require our custom widgets. I assume that if this is true, we'd just have to then relevel any existing SDs as well.

As far as question 2 goes ... I'm assuming that ELC will remain valid as the method I described would make the new races/sub races legit as well. Am I wrong?

As a hak it does not work though just to make sure for my own sake you mean Enfore Legal Character and not Earned Character level right?

As the Enforce will say they are illegal depending on how you do it as we have had to turn it off and script around it to make it work. I assume most servers who do changes via Letoscript have to as well.

"Enforce Legal Character", correct. The point is though, I'd not be using Leto or another script system to impliment this. My plan was to add a hak and players wishing to create a PC with the new selections could simply preload that hak using the patching options in their nwnplayer.ini.

I'll be doing some testing soon. I'm thinking it may work as I envision though.
