For a DLC this was one of the harder choices to make in the game. Now I noticed that the very first picture Keiji shows is of a Reaper looking thing. That caught my eye. I don't really want the information to blackmail anyone, nor do I want to put Kasumi's life in danger or have her "stuck in the past". I want to know what the heck that Reaper image is, so I tell her to keep the Greybox. Now that was my non meta-gaming choice, but after I did some digging. I found this thread. Which made the choice feel much more heavy on the ME universe than possible Reaper info and Kasumi's personal life. Wow what a choice for a DLC :).

Some highlights of the old thread;

The
were banned because an intelligence agency worker for the Alliance
known as Abraham Rumoi -- which is believed to be an alias of KEIJI

Golly gee bum. I wonder what that very sensitive Alliance intelligence was? ; )

I kept it to blackmail the Alliance. I'm officially a freelance worker. Garrus had the right idea.
However, I seriously doubt it will come into play in ME 3 despite it being seemingly Earth-Shattering

I keep it - mostly out of curiosity.

I would like the grey box and the Cerberus data you picked up off that tortured Cerberus op to play a large role in ME3 or should I say you as the player can make it play that kind of role by deciding to give it to Liara and she can take her 10 minets and start a war with it.

In order though for me to engage weather or not I will give said data to Liara I need to know certain things BW:

How damaging will it be
What info is it? Is it about Cerberus plans to make a reaper to take over all of alien space or is the Alliance hiding a super secret weapon to wipe out the council with to take over it?
I want to read all this info myself before I just hand it over to her I don't want people saying its dangerous and I can't see it with my own eyes.
I also want the option to trigger this war in stages like for instance I review Cerberus data and decide to hand it over to Liara later I found out ingame the Alliance is going to make some super psycho thing that'll make the galaxy a pain to live in so I release their data I kept so now neither Cerberus nor the Alliance can win against one another they're both equal in their pain.

I let Kasumi keep the data for her own sake more specifically for her attachment to Kaji so long as she can handle it. I kept the Cerberus data to deliberately blackmail and hinder them with in ME3 or in other playthorughs I gave it to the Alliance so they can squash them for me.

Wait a second. Greyboxes were banned because of one incident?

In that case, why the hell was Hock trying to crack one open? Was the Alliance in such a delicate position that they were in danger of being blackmailed by an arms dealer?

Same here, kept it out of curiosity once I saw the image of a Reaper (Sovereign???) flashing by.

Add that image to this info from the DLC - "If the information in his graybox were made public, the consequences for the Alliance could be severe."....veeery interesting.

I kept it, if we're all going to hell I don't want the Alliance to get away scot-free. If they did something bad, they should be exposed, no double-standards.

I have to admit, like a few people here I kept it generally out of curiosity. From an in-character perspective, I'd also like to have some dirt on the Alliance handy just-in-case, and I thought Kasumi would probably be able to handle keeping it hidden until a time comes where I might have to call on her assistance. Generally, though, it's just curiosity.

Looking at that old thread. I agree with some people in that thread the Grey Box is proof that the alliance knew of Sovereign long before anyone else did, and did tests/experiments/awoke it. Which would get them in HUGE trouble. How Hock found out about the Greybox is anbody's guess.

I kept it. Regardless I don't think it will have a HUGE effect in ME3. There are WAY bigger problems to deal with.

I vary, some playthroughs i keep others i destroy it. I'm concerned that someone like cerberus might get a hold of kasumi to destroy the alliance at a pivotal point and then othertime i decide i want dirt on the alliance just in case. Will be interesting too see how it plays out :)

Unfortunately it won't have an impact in ME3 for 2 reasons: DLC, and they basically told us nothing in the game. It would be a little dumb to have fallout from a decision where you weren't given the necessary information to decide.

So the significance is a nice Easter Egg, but ends at that :/

That is unfair, stupid and makes me very angry!
Oh My God Bioware! Why do you keep doing **** like this?
MAKE OUR CHOICES MATTER!!

I hate that stupid Graybox because Bioware is not going to do anything with it despite KASUMI being planned from DAY 1!! It's a complete ****ing waste and they are like, "OOOH! IT COULD IMPLICATE THE ALLIANCE!"

I thought they were bridging ME2->ME3 via DLC. LotSB and Arrival seem to indicate that. I wouldn't rule it out to play a role in ME3 because it is a DLC. Will it manifest into something major? Probably not. Although it is a notable plot line imo.

As for them not telling you anything major. That is true they don't say anything major from the mission/present context, but if you look closely and analyze it there are some neat photos and codex entries revolving around this. BioWare loves little hidden tidbits. The Prothean Visions in ME1 = How Protheans became Collectors. Who would of guessed that just playing ME1 without any knowledge of ME2?

Not saying your wrong or your opinion is, I'm just trying to be a Positive Paul :P.

We won't really know that until the game is released. I have a couple of save's each where I either kept the greybox or destroyed it, just in case it played any part in ME3.

I could see it getting a passing reference, I suppose. If it was a major plotline I would actually feel a bit peeved, because Shep can investigate further in ME2 but the game doesn't let you.

As for Arrival and LotSb, they are notable for not having any big decisions, so everyone has the same outcomes heading into ME3.

Kept it. Don't care what the implications are, sometimes its worth living dangerously. Besides, Kasumi is my gal pal. She wants it, she keeps it.

Wait. What if the Alliance did some stuff with Sovereign on the down low, highly classified. Spectre Saren gets in, kills some humans for the Evulz and accedently re-awakes Sovereign. Then ME1 happens. Saren WOULD be one to raid a human base and destroy it...

I thought Kasumi was supposed to be part of main ME2 game? Some dudes dug up something about kasumi that hints she's a squadmate before the actual announcement of that DLC. Maybe the DLC end decision plays a role in the ME story arc or something because its supposed to be included in the main game. Correct me if im wrong though

I assume that if you don't have the DLC, it's automatically 'saved'- perhaps via Hock.

I always have Kasumi keep it. As far as I'm concerned, I'm an independent contractor and that's information in my favour.

I'm on the fence, so my PTs pretty much do one or the other evenly. I can't imagine what kind of info could be on that thing that could take down the Alliance or anything like that, but I'm not going to take that chance for every single PT.

EDIT: Yes, I know the Graybox has something that has something to do with the Reapers, but I still can't imagine what could possibly be so bad about that that the Alliance would be jeopardized. i guess we won't know till ME3.

I keep it, not just for potential blackmail, but also because Kasumi missed Keiji. You should cherish your moments with your loved ones, even if now they're just a simulation.
