Could there be a Skill pop-up expanded tool bar that simply pops up to allow a player to use all the traps (or poisons/bombs) that are in the inventory that the player can use? I know that the idea is to allow the player to make use of the toolbar as a customized interface, but when the bar is full of abilities that the player has gained, it makes it difficult to decide what abilities you want to abandon.
I like to suggest that the additional toolbar only become available when the skill is acquired though.
