Yes. :D

Wow, very impressive - what kind of resolution would that be? like 3840 x 1080?

the 260M sounds like an excellent card. Do you know which desktop card it is based on?

Is the 460M an updated version of the same card?

@naughty99
Are you satisfied with your HP laptop? do you suggest Pavilion for 13.3'' laptop or Probook models are good enough?

Yes I'm very, very happy with the Envy 15, but it has been discontinued, so I think it is only available refurb or used. I can play about any recent game at 1920x1080, all detail settings maxed and get at least around 30-40 fps, much higher for some games.

It's a beast for working in Photoshop with huge image files, as well as video editing, motion graphics and disc authoring. I suspect it will probably not be able to play Crysis 1 or Metro 2033 at max resolution, however.

For gaming I would not get a pavilion or probook. For non-gaming purposes, I dunno, I guess I would need to know more details about what your needs are.

The Envy 14 is not very good for gaming IMO, as it is only sold with lower resolution display and much weaker GPU. Also it is actually bulkier and heavier than the Envy 15.

The Envy 17 has a pretty good card 5850, but you should really look at some of the Sager and other gaming laptops on http://www.xoticpc.com if you absolutely must get a gaming laptop.

It is actually much cheaper to build your own gaming desktop from components + buy a cheap laptop for non-gaming purposes. And you will end up with a desktop that is much more powerful than any laptop.

Thanks for the info. I have a PC for gaming, so I don't want to buy a laptop for that purpose. I want a laptop with resistant body and good monitor that lasts at least for 7-10 years. Also I like HP.

What kind of apps will you run on the laptop? If you will be doing mainly light MS Office type stuff, then you might consider one of the HP business line, as they are supposed to be the most durable.

If you can afford an EliteBook, these laptops have the DreamColor 2 displays - simply the best color reproduction of any laptop available on the market today.

I would be very surprised if any laptop lasts 7-10 years, however.

And even if it did, keep in mind that at that point we will be using some kind of totally different new technology, like photonics instead of electronics.

well my thread was closed and being referred to this thread i carry on here. Although it seems here more like a computer/pics + specs vs ambient+bw gaming corner.. but yes there are pictures in this thread too, so it must be the same indeed ( http://social.biowar...3/index/7360178 )

i wonder what your "gaming-altars" look like .. where you strip of RL and dive in to Bioware Worlds, such as DA, ME, NWN, JE, KOTR etc putting on your virtual swords, armors, guns and start some serious kicking and LI´s. ;)

Think some pics + brief info like where you play from (dont post full address newb, thanks ;)) could make a funny extention of this thread..

To continue here..
NRW, Essen, Germany ^^

the desk on which the system resides is quite fitting for a fantasy theme. it used to belong to the last king of romania. (long story involved)
