We all have our favorite squaddies now and many of us don't want to see any more in ME3, though we know at least one is coming...but if we were offered a pool of all our squad mates and no forced choices, who would you have and what number on your squad?

My choices: Top 3...Garrus, Legion, Kasumi (in no order of preference)...The rest: Tali, Thane, Zaeed (in order of preference)...I would be happy with 6 to 8 squaddies....no less than 6.

It has been rumored that we will be working for the Alliance again in ME3...If you could have a choice there too, who would it be? Alliance, Council, Cerberus or Free Lance?

I would personally prefer Free Lance, but Alliance would be my second option...what can I say, I have a thing for Hackett :-).

Edit: Forgot to add...and the why's of your choices? Just curious about perceptions.

From a gameplay perspective rather then personal feelings towards characters:

My dream team in ME1 was Kaidan and Liara (used to be Garrus and Kaidan, but I've been seduced by the lure of infinite crowd control - who cares if you fail at taking cover when nothing touches you anyways due to all the lifts and singularities)

My dream team in ME2 is Zaeed and Jack (I tried a variety of combinations but this one seems to be working best for me, followed closely by Zaeed and Tali, for those times when I don't actually need shockwave, just need to micromanage Jack - if I don't she dies too fast).

Dream team in ME3 is yet to be decided. it will depend on how they evolve abilities and such.

As for whom to work for? depends on each individual Shepard

Thane, Garrus, Zaeed. I love all my squaddies, but I'm one of those people who tends to pick the same few squad members for all my missions. That's why I enjoy the loyalty missions: it makes me work with the other companions.

And I would prefer to freelance. At this point, my Shepard pretty much acts as if they're not beholden to anyone. The Alliance used her memory, Cerberus is a terrorist group in her eyes, 'Ah yes, Reapers'- the only people she can rely on are living on the same ship as she does.

Dream Team, eh? To be honest, I'd take everyone. I love them all. Seriously. And each one fills in a little combat niche.

Okay, okay. Let's say I had to pick six, one of each class:

VANGUARD: This is a really tough choice between Thane and Wrex. I love Wrex, but to be honest I'd rather see him lead the krogan. Thane, meanwhile, has a sniper rifle. I'll take Thane.

INFILTRATOR: Garrus. Even though I love Kasumi to pieces, Garrus is my bro.

SENTINEL: We only have two of these to choose from. I imagine Kaidan to function in ME3 like a less asstastic Miranda, so I'll take him. His stupid haircut can come, too. Just kidding--Kaidan's a bro.

ADEPT: Samara and Jack are two of my favorite characters, but the more I think about it, the more I'd like to have Liara with me. She doesn't have Jack's personality or Samara's Mattock + Area Reave = Everything Dies, but she's a trustworthy friend. Also, Singularity.

ENGINEER: Damn it, all my favorites are techies! Uh... Ooh! I know! I'll take Mordin! Yeah, Mordin's cool, right? But... but Legion! Urgh... Ah, hell, I'll go with Mordin.

SOLDIER: Okay, I am totally going to cheat and take Legion. I mean, he does sort of use assault rifles and stuff, right? And he can sort of tank with GSB...

FINAL TEAM: Thane, Garrus, Kaidan, Liara, Mordin, Legion. Yeah, sort of lacking in heavy hitters and crazy, but that's where Shepard comes in.

I will probably change my mind tomorrow.

EDIT: And if I had to go in with only two squadmates, it'd be Garrus and Wrex.

You might notice, my Dream Team is majority Snipers....my fav kinda game play and what I'm best at, my Shep is an Assassin Infiltrator...doesn't work out so well against varren and husks :-)...but thats where Kasumi and Zaeed save my a** more often than I can count :-)....And nothing beats the Tali/Legion team on anything mechanical :-).

Kaidan and Liara were my dream team in ME1, for the reasons jeweledleah mentions above, but I also loved the combination of Ashley and Kaidan, for their interactions and general commentary. Obviously, that can never be again. =( For ME2, it's pretty much Miranda and whomever I need at the moment. In ME3, I suspect it will be Kaidan and Liara, and Kaidan and Miranda, whenever possible.

My main Shepard is Alliance for life, my renegade Shepard would gladly go freelance.

Yep, I used the Kaiden/Liara team a lot in ME1 for the same reasons you have quoted...though I also enjoyed Garrus being teamed up with either one of them as well. Always took Garrus and Tali to Feros and saving the scientists from the biotics though...as those two strike me the most as willing to follow Sheps orders to a tee, arming them with pistols only, when trying to avoid killing colonists/scientists, Kaiden would fit there too, but I personally found biotics to be more of a hinderance than a help in those situations....especially the scientists, always lost scientists if I took a biotic with me.

A-Team: Thane and Samara (IMO there both badasses)

B-Team: Jack and Miranda (Although I'm ambivalent towards Miranda's character, I love making these two work together)
