I'm not complaining about it myself. I enjoyed the game just fine, and my ability to enable my suspension of disbelief is fairly good. I honestly only began thinking about this topic when I saw the overwhelming number of threads criticising the mechanics, and that made me start wondering about it.

And since folks enjoy finding ways to show that things don't make sense, I like the challenge of sifting through and trying to find things that WOULD explain some of it.

I know you weren't. I do know a lot of people are complaining however, and I'm saying that they are themselves partially to blame if they ruin their own imerssion by being bad roleplayers.

Didn't Ser Bryant also told you that he knew that you were a mage, but he had more serious problems? I can't quite remember. http://social.biowar...s/wondering.png

Btw: Was I the only one who found it hilarious that Bryant always talked about defending the city at all costs and then we learn in DA2 that the templars ran away, while families like the Hawkes were still in Lothering? http://social.biowar...oticons/lol.png

If you tell him you're a mage, he states he doesn't have time to deal with them as he has his hands full defending the people. He only sees the threats from the darkspawn. I

If they went with the idea that Templars could "sense" mages in all of the lore (which we aren't really sure of one way or the other) then it could be explained that since Kirkwall is so messed up with the veil being so thin (see Enigma of Kirkwall) that they lose that ability.  They don't know if they are sensing mages, demons or whatever.  Well that's my theory anyways

That's pretty good. If they ARE able to sense it, the ability is getting overloaded.

Actually . . . if you ask him for information, and you are a mage, he says that you would probably be interested to know what is happening at the tower.  Then he says something to the effect of, "Suprised?  I'd be bad at my job if I couldn't recognize a mage."

I highly doubt they have an ability to "sense" mages. They're probably just well trained in noticing the signs of a mage. As far as Ser Bryant, he was probably just observant enough to realize what you were. I'unno. That's my theory, anyway.
I do wish they'd add a little dialog or something to the parts where you use spells and people notice them. Like say the guard at the docks. Have him say something about your (sister) being a mage, but won't go to the templars because of your help or something like that. Or Cullen saying something about it, but then saying that there are more pressing matters to attend to, and is willing to accept anyone's help at this point, and seeing how you helped him, it's unlikely that you're part of the whole thing.
