Hi, is there a gun or ship quest I have to do for Garrus?

I 've been trying to talk to him, but all he tells me is to wait as he needs to do his calibrations.

The other members I recruited - Samara, Mordin, Grunt etc are able to talk to me after I finished their quests. I finished Garrus's betrayal quest too, but I still can't talk to him.

Is there a bug? Or do I have another quest to do? Do I need to purchase his thanix gun upgrade? It cost me far too much minerals, and I can't find that many. Is there a place I can exchange credits for minerals?

Thanks.

Oh God I laughed so hard at this.

In the event you are not a troll: Garrus just doesn't have a lot of dialogue. If you are getting the calibrations line all the time, it means you've used up all your conversations with him.

Also, those calibrations are so infamous they've risen to memedom.

It's surprising he's not an ideal choice for the tech job in the suicide mission considering all he does is callibrate machines.

Ah yes "Calibrations" the alleged way Garrus' passes time on the Normandy. Bah we have dismissed his claim.

Later in Mass Effect 3...

Shepard:"Everyone fall back the Reapers are too strong!"
Garrus:"Wait! Commander I finished my calibrations!"
Shepard:"What?"
Garrus:"Commander with this Omni-Tool you'll be able to perform the ultimate Shepard Punch."
Shepard:"Belay that  previous order Joker. Alright lets do this!"
*Shepard jumps out of Normandy towards Harbinger*
Harbinger:"HUMAN YOUR ATTACK IS POINTLESS!"
Shepard:"Shepard Punch!"
Harbinger:"WHAT?! OH SHI-"
*Harbinger explodes upon fist contact Michael-Bay-Style*

The End

If you want to talk to Garrus, you have to romance him.

It's the same with Tali and Jack, and to a lesser extent Jacob, Miranda and Thane. Unless you romance them, all the romancable characters have noticably less dialogue than the non-romancable characters, and IMO it's one of Mass Effect 2's main failings.

They should take a leaf out of Dragon Age: Origins' book for ME3. That game did romance and friendship dialogue lines very well.

This would require copious amounts of anime-esque music.

And Joker would need to shout "CAPTAIN SHEPAAAAAARD-UUUH!"

If OP is serious...

You get more dialogue when his loyalty mission starts up. You need to do a couple of other loyalties first, I think his is technically in the "second round" that open up (I think Miranda,Jacob, and Mordin's come up first). So even if you've recruited everyone you need to do a few other loyalty missions first. Once you get (and complete) his loyalty there will be a little bit of dialogue and then he goes back to calibrations (unless you're romancing him and you'll get the two "reach and flexibility" chats if you haven't already done those. The third reach and flexibility chat (if you want to call it that) happens just before the Suicide Mission if he is your Shepard's LI.

But yeah, this is one of those long running jokes with ME2, there isn't much dialogue for our favourite turian :(

You should totally get the thanix canon though, make his calibrations mean something!

Everyone in the thread is trying to be nice, but I have to tell you the hard unvarnished truth. Garrus just isn't that in to you.

... what? Why... why the... why on earth would you want him to STOP calibrating? That's just... I'm not sure how... I mean, this is completely...

I prefer "I'm a busy man, commander, are we done here?"

If we get to have a volus crew member in ME3 he won't take kindly to interruptions because he's going to spend all his time on e-trade: "sell...sell at 25!"

Dragon Age also does a much better job of inter-party dialogue.

Just on the upgrade point. If you don't purchase the upgrade before the end of the game one of your crew is going to die.

It shouldn't really be difficult to get minerals. They're all over the place. I had tons more than I needed by the time I finished and every DLC adds more opportunities for more mining.

There's that suicide mission at the end that the crew keeps talking about. It's the only way to get Garrus to stop calibrating.

Permanently.

I lol'd. 10/10

But on the off chance it's serious...
As stated above, make sure to get all the ship upgrades. Minerals are everywhere, if nothing else, just scan all planets that are small-ish. Get upgrades from : Garrus = Thanix Cannon. Jacob = Armor. Tali = shields. If you don't, ALL YOUR CRU WILL DYE!

Apparently the money ran out when they got to the fire control systems of the Normandy SR2, thus the eternal calibrations.

Or if you're paranoid he is hiding something.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start.

Input that to cause Garrus to stop calibrating.

Hopefully in Me3 calibrations will be a thing of the past.

ME3
Shep: You got a minute?
Garrus: Can it wait? I'm running some maintenance.

Who assigned/authorized Garrus's calibration work?
