I like DA2. A lot (despite its many faults):

- Mechanics are great
- Movement animation is great
- Graphics are great (but clipping graphics baaaaad)
- Art design is great
- Characters are great
- World map sucks :devil:

The two things I liked about the game:
-the staff combat animations
-didn't feel the need to spend to much time with it so I had more time for other things

Have to say I disagree. DA2 just looked and felt too bright and cartoony.

The only improvement I can see is talent webs. Well, kind of, wish they were done better.

I dislike DA2.

- I prefer the skill trees of DA2 than DAO. It allows more potential to develop and improve a skill.
- New hair styles
- Varric

I like DA2 a great deal. It has some flaws (all games do), but on the whole I think it's one of the best games I've ever played.

What I like most about it is its excellent writing and dramatic storytelling design, and how the cutscenes effectively mesh with the action to create it. This is also improved by the simplified rules and character design (which some folks misguidedly disparage as "dumbing down"), by eliminating unnecessary and non-essential mechanics-based distractions from the storyelling experience.

Streamlined and focused dramatic storytelling is the best thing in my view about Dragon Age 2. This is what I want story-based games of the future to be more like.

At risk of violating the "name only one thing rule," I'd also like to mention what I consider to be the best single feature added in DA2: the endemic use of "RP Tagging." That's the placing of a tone or RP intent indicator on a dialog response, such as the mask (for a wisecracking response), the heart (for a romance response), the hammer (for a blunt or aggresive response), etc. A text-based variant of that is something I've been doing in my mod work for years, and I'm really glad to see that Bioware has adopted a similar approach to improve the RP experience in DA2.

I was vastly disappointed with DA2, so I guess I fit more into the "didn't like" camp.

I liked the fact that they used different body models and animations for lady Hawke than for male Hawke.
It could have been done better, but I appreciate the fact that they made the attempt and hope they make the same attempt for ME3!

Free copy of ME2 (a great quality game with exception of personal taste disliking planet scanning).

Sorry forgot to mention ~ Did not like DA2.

Decision making/roleplaying aspects - this aspect was actually one that felt significantly improved for me over DA:O. Far too often in DA:O I felt like there were never any consequences as a result of my choices. (Admittedly these were typically the "small scale" points as opposed to the over-arching core plot, but they really did make the atmosphere of the game a lot more engaging for me personally)

A number of other key things I really liked have already been mentioned.

Edit: Wow, okay, settle down, OT. I liked DA2, but I felt it definitely needed more work.

If there is a DA3, she better be in it.  Or there will be anger... much anger.  And I agree with your first point as well. Archer is still not my favorite, but it never reached the amount of hatred for me as it did in DAO.

On the whole I like DA2. It has it's flaws, but overall, is okay.

I liked party interaction. The banter, but also the scenes where you would visit a party member to talk and they were already talking to another party member. Like the scene where Isabela and Merril play cards. Some of the best writing in the game was in the banter and those scenes, and I hope that Bioware does the same thing for ME3.

Overall I was very disappointed with DA2, but I'd be lying if I said I disliked everything.

I like:

* New Elf design
* New Qunari design
* The writers did a good job with the characters
* Non-combat animations are good
* I like the idea of companions having a home (although I like the DAO camp better)
* Archer class improvement
* Bow models

My dislike-list is three times as long. :P

I like DA2 and lots of things in it, but if I'd have to pick one thing it's the personalities Hawke gets after you choose same dialog option enough times and how it changes how Hawke says things after that. So I guess that would be that I love the personalities of Hawke. :)

Indeed, I have come around to full liking that game, and I will second the personalities Hawke takes on, specifically, I like what they yell during fights especially after taking someone out.

Aggressive Hawke: "Give my regards to the Maker!" "Nothing like the smell of blood!"

Diplomatic Hawke: "What a waste . . ." "All right, good job everyone!" That one made me laugh the most. Hawke as motivational speaker.

Really gave you a sense of a personality shift. Also the things that Hawke would say during non-prompted dialogue. I honestly wish there had been MORE of that, such that more of the responses Hawke gave during the dialogue were colored by that personality.

- Party banter (in particular seeing NPCs interact, Varric and Anders, Anders and Isabella etc)
- I really liked Hawke. The flirty lines seemed a bit incongruous but other wise really good
- Cassandra
