I know this question was answered a lot of times but i want a little more assurance about it. Actually where are those unique dialogues in the dlc witch are different? Are they dispersal in the
whole dlc or only when i talk with liara on the Normandy after finising
the Shadowroker(if i was together with her in ME1)? In that case is
the right way to play, before IFF or between IFF and Suicide mission? And after killing the shadowBroker, dealing with the Suicide Mission, then inviting Liara to the ship? Or the whole stuff after the suicide mission()?
Fo me is not vital to have the achivements what it brings, only i would likke to know when it's he most amusing.

I enjoy the DLC the most done after the Suicide Mission, personally. But for gameplay reasons, there are merits to doing it before.

Makes most sense after the Suicide Mission.

Makes things easier to do it before.

IF you are romancing Liara....do it before....then when shep looks at her pic before the suicide mission it gives it more feeling. then right after the suicide mission head back to her and invite her on the ship.

I recommend you play it before the suicide mission, specially if you are romancing liara, you will realise that it is what makes the most sense when you reach the suicide mission. Basically the difference between doing it before or later is what you talk about with Liara once you are on the normandy. The difference is minor at best, and i happen to like more the dialogue if you do it pre-suicide mission.

There is no right way to play, it is a preference based on which dialogue you prefer, you could try playing it before the suicide mission, then go and watch on youtube the same dlc but done after the suicide mission, and decide what you like better.

I always felt that doing LOTSB before the final mission sucks out all the emotions of the picture scene.

For the topic itself. Do it post-suicide mission from a story standpoint.

I always did LotSB after the suicide mission. It makes much more sense since you KNOW [Spoilers], and of course, you're no longer [Spoilers]. It also has, if you romanced Liara in ME1, some repercussions on your LI.

Do LOTSB before, but don't talk to Liara again until after the SM. That is what I did.

So I've only ever done it before the Suicide Mission. I have a very difficult time playing a game that feels completed after the Suicide Mission.

If you romanced Liara, then romanced someone new in ME2, can you still get jiggy w/ Liara if you choose to do LotSB after the Suicide Mission? Like, will she always be available for shaggin' if you romanced her in ME1?

either way works honestly.

[SPOILERS]

though, for the LI comments you gotta do the convo after i think. also starting it doesnt make complete sense if you screw TIM over at the end. "cerberus gave me info on how to find the shadow broker" really? why would they do that if you just screwed them?

Hmm, I thought Shadow Broker was designed as a post SM campaign.  Finished a super reneagde who romanced Liara a week and a half ago and was going to start a ME2 playthrough Thursday. Haven't played SB yet, but it sounds like (given how much praise it has gotten) playing it first would make the Collector base anti-climatic in comparison.

But Arrival is post suicide mission only, right?

Main Game (along with Overlord, Kasumi, Zaeed and Firewalker) --> Lair of the Shadow Broker ---> Arrival

Because they have a vested interest in seeing the Shadowbroker go down regardless and Shep/Liara are in the best position to do so.

Can Arrival be done before the Suicide Mission?  That would just seem weird if you could.

I know no one has posted in here for 2 months but I see no reason to create a new thread if what I'm asking is basicly the exact same.

I've only played LotSB after the suicide mission, but I was thinking that maybe it could make since that it takes place before (Maybe between Reaper IFF and suicide mission???).

Basicly complete the mission (take down the broker) BEFORE the suicide mission but come back and do the "catching up" AFTER the sm...

You could, and it's useful from a gameplay perspective - the best part is being able to reassign your squadmates' skill points. Thane is the best for this, since you get to max out all of his skills and make sure there are none in shredder ammo, since it's useless.

I like to do LotSB the soonest it's available, after Horizon.

At the start of ME2, TIM comments about Liara that she is probably working together with the Shadowbroker and that she cannot be trusted. Fishy and unlogic. But if we follow up to Liara´s hacking minigames, Cerberus had now witness-proof that she is acutally fighting the SB. So, the Email with further leads could appear anytime after that.

My Shepard will do anything to find some real allies you can depend on, and Liara ranks top there. So I do LotSB soonest after the primary objective of defending colonies from the Collectors. You have to imagine some break in the action, though. So you have to suppose that either the distress signal or the reaper investigation pop up later than the game actually delivers it to you.

I usually do the dlc prior to the SM because my canon Shep romanced Liara.  Settling things with her and SB seems to me personally a loyaty quest for him.  The entire game he's running around solving other peoples' issues, but Liara and the SB is an issue for him specifically.  After seeing the youtube video I think I would invite her up to the ship after the SM.  The dialogue is a lot better IMO.

Well, the mission unlocks well before the SM, so I figured that Cerberus gave Shepard the info before going through the Omega 4 Relay, and Shepard just decided to hang on to the intel until later.

Warning: Possible light spoilers, such as locations you will go to in ME2.

I tend to do these side missions at these times:
  • Normandy Crash site as my very first mission.
  • Firewalker missions before Overlord and before Horizon.
  • Overlord as soon as I have the two members of my team I plan on using for the majority of the game* (for instance, I like to use Miranda and Jacob with my infiltrator, and Thane and Kasumi for my sentinel, etc).
  • Lair of the Shadow Broker after I've visited Illium at least once and done Liara's missions and gotten the information on Samara and Thane, as well as completing the loyalty missions for the two characters I plan on using for the majority of the game*.
  • I generally do Ascension literally just before doing the Reaper IFF, so I can do Legion's loyalty mission then the Collector base.  Basically I do this as late in the game as possible but do it before the final mission, though I imagine doing it post-game would also make sense.  Doing it too early doesn't make much sense, especially if you are regularly visiting the Citadel or whatever else.
Basically, I do my missions based off of what feels right from a story perspective.
*Legion is an exception for my Vanguard (who uses Tali and Legion), I use Garrus instead since I will only be using Legion on the last two missions.  I don't make any other exceptions.

I did it before the suicide mission as well. But unfortunately I couldn't romance Liara cause I romanced Ashley in ME1. So I didn't get as much dialogue choices that people would get that romanced Liara in ME1.
