Hey guys...

I've fallen to the Call of the Nerd once again and installed BG2 with my favorite mods from Sorcerer's Place.
And once again I'd appreciate some advice.
I'm building a party around 2 custom kit player characters, it's going to be a more or less pure roleplaying run. Neutral party, no thievery sell/steal exploit. The main character will be an Archer of Sylvanus, a druid kit. The second will be the Sylvan Mystic, a Ranger kit. I'd like one of them to be melee and was wondering, if the Ranger Kit is even worth being played as a melee.

If you'd like to help me out or just take a look at the kits, go to http://www.gibberlin...t/spc/index.php and look them up.

The Sylvan Mystic will be an elf and therefore severely handicapped CON-wise and STR-wise by kit. I'd have 19 DEX but only 13 STR and 13 CON. The kit's other drawbacks aren't really a problem. But will a melee character with CON and STR scores at that level even be viable? I mean it IS an RP run, but I don't want my main being worse in combat than Yoshimo.
Also, will the mage spells be affected by INT?

The second kit, Archer of Sylvanus is a druid with decent ranged skills. Considering he will be dealing damage, what priest (druid) spells should I look into?
Edit: I'm using the cleric level progression table with the PnP spell table. Meaning: Fair progression for druids, more spells on higher levels.

And last but not least, if the Sylvan Mystic won't work well as a melee, what are other fun G3 custom kits to tag along with my druid?

Cheers, zhok

You want to have Intel of at least 16 so you can handle 8th level spells, and you need Intel=18 for 9th level spells if you plan to play thru ToB. Obviously you can get an extra point in Watchers Keep and potions will temporarily raise Intel, but I would think 16 is as low you would want to start if you want your mystic ranger to be a good F/M/C. Sounds like throwing axes and eventually Crom Fayr might help to keep your elf alive.

F/M/C? Sylvan Mystic is a Ranger kit. He can only be elf or half-elf. Hence dual classing won't work and multi classing can't work, because it's a kit. The INT question was only concerning if INT governs the power of his arcane spells that he gets from his kit.

Your link to the kit doesn't list any arcane spells, but intelligence anyway has no effect on a spell's "power"; only on the % chance that a mage can scribe a scroll of that spell.

I'm guessing the modder who made these kits added the spells as innates, in which case they will be cast at your character's level irrespective of intelligence.
