What was the best part of the storyline for you?
Because in order for EA/BW to improve their next game (DA3) I think it would help them to know exactly what was good in DA2 since we all pretty much, for the most part, know what was bad.
Perhaps, we can refrain from the usual negatives/complaints-since they are so often repeated and then debated to the point of going off-topic- and just try to focus on being conducive for DA3's sake.

It would also be a injustice to not mention Varric's exaggerated personal sidequest. Easily my favorite individual quest in the game.

Mine was that Companions lived lives that didn't revolve around mine. And actually sought out each other's company outside of adventuring. The little things really made this work. Varric secretly trying to keep Anders and Merril safe. Isabela's growing friendship with Aveline and her 'girl talk' with Merril. Or that they'd befriend your family.
But like all good things, of course I want more of this in the future.
And let's not forget how Varric would rather play cards with Dog than to hang out with Hawke.
Now that I think about it, don't all of your companions visit The Nor- Hawke's Estate just to hang out with Dog?

I also enjoyed the differences between the friendships and rivalries. Seeing Isabela want to change herself to become a better person for Hawke when romanced as a rival was probably one of my favorite rival interactions.

Learning about a new culture's creed, philosophies, behavior nuances, what can shun or elevate a member of a culture, values, weaknesses, and overall intricacies are my favorite part of Dragon Age...or really any game for that matter.

I think the reason i liked DA:O so much more (battle mechanics aside) is because it was an introduction to the universe and to the nuances in the cultures that inhabit the world. So, since they obviously can't reintroduce every thing again, my favorite part of DA2 was the Qunari. Chapter 2 of DA2 really delve much deeper into a previously unknown DA culture with a seemingly more thorough approach to the Qun.
Learning about a new culture's creed, philosophies, behavior nuances, what can shun or elevate a member of a culture, values, weaknesses, and overall intricacies are my favorite part of Dragon Age...or really any game for that matter.
Now that I really found interesting. What I also loved was when the elves joined the Qunari and how the Qunari immediately accepted them as their own with no discrimination. I actually got to understand why those elves really felt that they were better off submitting to the Qunari in terms of justice and protection. By choosing to live under Qunari law, they felt that at least they knew where they stood.
It really gave insight to the Qunari's way of life and how those that chose to submit to the Qun over death were assimilated into their society.

It was amazing to see how Merrill realizes how wrong she was in her pursuit of repairing the Eluvian. For most of the game, she thought Marethari was working against her - but then it was revealed that Marethari had been trying to protect Merrill all along.
It was only shortly before Marethari's death that Merrill finally realized that Marethari loved her. So very touching, and one of the finest melodramatic moments in any video game.
Despite DA2's flaws, this was the high point in Dragon Age as a whole for me.

Also, the heart-wrenching moments (end of Act I, and a good chunk of Act II) and the pangs of gamer guilt. Any game that draws you that much in and gives you a good shake can't be all that bad, in my opinion.

I was actually really annoyed with Anders for his blowing up the chantry and killing the Grand Cleric, who up to this point has always been a voice of reason. I just could not forgive him for it.
All companion stories. The companions had less explained background than in DA:O but I think they really went through a much more interested journey. I was very unimpressed with Isabella at first, but then she really grew on me. And I liked how she was a key player in the Qunari crisis.
And the mass-murder story. When the white flowers come for Hawk's mother, I had that priceless moment of thinking "oh crap".

That aside, in the final mission my first time through I was a mage who was Pro-Mage. I obeyed my mother and left Carver at home. He went on to become a Templar, something I took really personally.
And in the finale, he wanted to join up with me. I refused to allow it. That scene, Hawke's dialogue, Carver's dialogue, the old wounds ripped fresh while love is still there....that was really well done. Better than any of the Bethany endings I had.

Then there was the part where I got to slaughter an entire Dalish band because Merrill was stupid. That was fun.
Got to help a terrorist blow up a church. Good times.
You know, I didn't really like any of the character sidequests except Varric's. Aveline was ok but even as my friend she was kind of a jerk.
Yeah, I think my favorite part of the story was the end. After fighting off the Transformer invasion, I just couldn't take anymore.

But the "best part of the storyline" was the Arishok story - meeting him, stopping the bombs, earning his respect, losing all respect for HIM by his treatment of the Viscount's head, then the duel at the end. I loved it when the Champion walked away without turning back when the Arisholk said his final words.

They were marines. Primarily serving aboard a ship before it crashed. Javelins work nicely there, and heavy armor is a no-no.-Skorpious- wrote...
The entire conflict with the Qunari. One of the few redeeming factors of DA2, content with the Qunari (especially those with the Arishok) were always a pleasure to play through. Although I did dislike how Bioware retconned their appearance/lore in DA2 - a race of sophisticated warmongers foregoing armor to run around naked? Abandoning weapons for mere twigs? Employing mages in combat? Has Sten been trolling my Warden during the events of DAO?! And don't even get me started on the horns...
It would also be a injustice to not mention Varric's exaggerated personal sidequest. Easily my favorite individual quest in the game.

For me it was all the interaction and q's with companions. Loved that to bits. For me it made my group feel so much more like a team when they talked to eachother, helped eachother. Some companions have a growing friendship, some may even fall in love. Other just hate eachothers guts. I would be over the moon to see a little bit of this in ME3. Also having so many different ways that some conversations can turn. Last time I spoke to Fenris I got some new dialouge that I hadn't seen before and that made me really happy.
The personal q's are wonderful! Well, not all of them, The Long Road, Varric's gangster intro, Isabelas Act 3 q are great in my opinion. Fenris and Anders are often really really good. There are so many that I enjoy every time I play them. Then there are some that I just play but aren't that special. Anders personal q in Act 3 when you collect all the things is a pretty usual q. Run out and grab things, not bad but nothing special.
Well short version, family and friends are the best thing for me =)

Aveline's love story with Donnic(?). This was so refreshing. Before this all the love stories in other games had been between the player and their chosen LI. It was a nice change that one of my companions could fall in love with someone other than me. And then just the whole progression of the plot and how awkward Aveline was, I found that really amusing.
The family deaths. My Hawke lost his sister outside Lothering, his brother in the Deep Roads, and his mother to a serial killer / Dr Frankenstein. Each loss was emotional.
But the best storyline was Anders. My Hawke was a male mage. Isabella was the LI, Aveline was a good friend right from the start. But Anders became a friend over time, based on their common experience of being a mage. When Anders went psycho in act 3, Hawke was faced with a very difficult choice. All throughout the story Hawke had tried to protect mages, but had no hesitation in putting them down when they turned bad. Ultimately Hawke chose to be consistent, fearing that if he showed Anders leniency, Anders may do something like this again to hurt more innocent people. Hawke had no choice but to kill his friend, and this really hit me harder emotionally than any of those family deaths.
