I will parrot the others on this thread....really it was the companions, the companion quests, the inter-companion interactions, and the companion interjections to NPC conversations that made the game....
Oh, and the final confrontation with the Arishok. Felt like the game should have ended there.

I loved how the companions their own lives and like someone said, they didnt revolve around Hawkes, I also liked the quests when you found your mother dying/dead. That really pulled my heart strings. Also having the mass effect 2 option of having a drink was reaaly good, I hope you can invite your friends for drinks and have card games etc. I mean if My dog can play card games, why can't I?
I like that you got to pick which side you were on and having your companions leaving you if you didn't have a high friend/rivalry with them
Loved the dialogue wheel too.

Interacting with the Arishok and the Qunari conflict in Act Two are definitely the highlights for me. I agree with the previous poster who said that it felt like the game should have ended there. It was so well done that the templar/mage conflict simply pales in comparison.
I also really enjoyed the friend/rival system and being able to deal honestly with people instead of appeasing.

In no particular order, my favourite things in DA2:
1. All that remains mansion cut-scene. It was beautifully done.
2. Punching the hunger demon in the face. classic!
3. Lots of Sarcastic Hawke's lines. "Nice to know your barking mad." or "Care to explain your particular brand of crazy?"
4. Hawke in the Aveline matchup quest. "Maker she is bad at this."
5. Carver defending his brother against Merideth.
6. "Maker... please... your humble servant..." BOOM... buh bye.
7. Varric and Gascard Dupuis
8. Mother Petrice finally gets the point.
9. Viscount Dumar and his son in the Chantry
10. Keran.

Act 2...the Qunaris and The Arishok.Like he saw the evil in humans, dwarfs, and elves in Kirkwall. He hated everything about Kirkwall;saw no good in it what so ever unless your name happens to be Hawk. His way of explaining the culture, belief, and way of his kind was compelling. The thing that stood out the most for me was he did not discriminate against anyone who wanted to learn or join the way of the Qun ( remember the two thieves and the Viscounts son Saemus) Bioware pulled that off perfect.Love it when he says YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL!!!

I've always enjoyed playing Act 2. That was when the majority of the companion relationships really started to show growth with Hawke, whether rivalry, friendship or romance...And I think, over all, it has the most interesting quests out of all three acts.

Act 2. The political problems, the racist problem with the qunari, the crisis inside the city that cannot hold up become more and more urgent.

The wait in the gallows before the big battle in the mage ending. The feeling of hopelessness, the emissaries being sent to tell the other circles of what happened, reuniting with Bethany and Anders returning after you told him to leave asking if it's okay if he helps out, which you feel obliged to say yes to because the situation just looks that bad. And it really does go about as bad as you expect. Even after the awesome fight with Meredith and the entire templar army backing away from you in fear and respect you can't do anything but flee as fast as possible or getting yorself killed.
