I'm sure most people did. They played through the dwarf origins, enjoyed the story they offered but did not feel like playing as a dwarf for the rest of the 50 hour game.

That's not what the telemetry data says, though. Most players only played once, most players didn't finish the game, and 95% of them never made a dwarf character.

And perhaps you're correct, though opinion and I think that's fine. It's just that the physical look and the ability to be able to play two classes may play a larger role in why I didn't want to play taht Origin.

An entirely reasonable opinion - as you can see, many people are with you there. I do think the lack of dwarf mages in the setting must have made a difference to the numbers, too.

Avatars invalidate words, now that's certainly an interesting application to reading. Maybe I should use the clown dwarf avatar?

Wasn't criticizing you.

Ok, maybe I missed the smiley face you posted, or how my avatar somehow denotes a level of creditbility, those were your words to which I replied. If you mean something else, then please elaborate, and refrain from being more cryptic, please.

:)

As fun as the Dwarf Noble Origin was, I think people would take issue with not being able to access the mage class by being limited to dwarves. I'd like DA3 to bring back the multiple Origins and give us the option of choosing our particular background.

I think you have good points, but I may add another to why I didn't play the dwarf origin, Ohgren. IMO, he was the most annoying companion in the game. Though he was written that way, I just found it a turn-off that he was near nothing more than a drunken, uncouth loud-mouth, though effective as a tank. After a while of listening to him, I can see why I would not play this as well.Having said that,  I really did like the NPCs in Orzammar and their little side quests, some were very hearf-felt. Too bad Ohgren offered so little of that aspect.

Yeah, because Dwarves are directly involved in anything that has to do with mages and the chantry. Oh wait.

But they're part of this world!!!

I like dwarves a LOT more than elves (and I mean, a whole heck of a lot), but I don't want to play as one. It wouldn't make any sense for Bioware to release a game with dwarf as the only playable race... normally I hate the idea of them using "telemetry" to monitor us and then make design choices, but this time it agrees with me, so...

If anything, we need 3 races (or 4 if you want to throw in the Kossith), all fully voiced, since they are so in love with the idea of voiced protagonists. Go all the way, create something brilliant, and then they will deserve the money these games cost. Doing it halfway after all the customization that was possible in DA:O is disappointing at best.

Hardly anyone would be able to take DA3 seriously if the protagonist is a midget. Bioware would never do this.

Even if we can't play as a Dwarf, I hope we get a chance to see Kal-Sharok in DA3.

As for the character choices in DA:O, I've tried them all and only the human and city Elf stories held my interest, while the Dwarf and Dalish stories failed to keep my interest. Of course, I tried them after beating the game already, and I was was disappointed by how their stories were nearly identical to my human and Elf adventures once you got past the opening. Even revisiting their homelands later in the game didn't provide much difference than my human noble. Disappointing.

While the Dwarven Origin stories were awesome, Dwarves, Elves and other races will always be "flavour" races. In most RPGs, Humans will be the default race. So don't expect any player character in Dragon Age 3 to be a Dwarven-only, or Elven-only or Qunari-only or w/e protagonist.

It will always be human first, then other races if Bioware wants them in.

I want to play as a rogue Bronto that can flip kick potions at my enemies and teleport around the battlefield doing my vicious backstab moves.

Sadly I doubt Bioware would ever focus on another race unless it's a free-for-all at character creation as in Origins, NWN, or BG. Most people are insufferably dull and just like to make a character that is a replica of themselves in the games they play, so fewer people pick dwarves or elves. I guess I can understand this mentality since most people play games to zone out, but then they aren't really playing it as a roleplaying game either. Sure CRPGs have limited opportunity to roleplay in them, but it is nice to have some player freedoms to make different kinds of characters of varying races and backgrounds.

The fact that playing a Dwarf was an option is kind of the point.

A Dwarf story would probably focus on the darkspawn, the deep roads, and all the lost Thaigs which numbered around elven of them. And Bioware repeats the recycled caves again, I'd rather play pokemon. It has more depth.

Stupid idea... I want to customize my own protagonist, choose his race, gender, etc etc etc...
