The hero of DA3 is neither human nor dwarf or any identifiable species.

And I want the whole game to take place in Orzimmar.  If Bioware is going to force us to play who they want us to play and play in one place then at least make it fun.

No to both, for much more reasons than i care to write down in this post.

Hmmm.... don't know why but I never really took to my dwarven warden, didn't finish that game. So I would prefer to play a human or elf. I would still get any game that they make in the DA-universe to get the continuation of the story but I prefer humans and elves.

I never played the dwarf origins, mainly because it just never interested me. Once I figured out that my Cousland could marry Alistair, that was the end of it for me - I played the human noble origin on every playthrough thereafter. I did try out the city elf and Dalish elf origins before I got to that point, at least.

In regard to DA3, the story should determine the protagonist.

In Origins, it made sense to have multiple races and backgrounds to choose from, but BioWare might have shot themselves in the foot by making it an option. In DA2, it made sense that the protagonist was human. The main location was a human city. Could Hawke have been an elf or a dwarf? Perhaps, but I don't think he/she would have commanded the same amount of respect as such. How much would it have meant to make a decision and have someone throw back, "well, you did that because you're an elf (or dwarf)"? IMHO, it was wise to not bring race into it.

Just my $.02.

I think you're on to something. The protagonist should be a dwarf, living in a luxury apartment with an elf. They should both be dealing with recent divorces. Oh, and they should have completely opposite personalities. The dwarf could be something of a sloppy reprobate, while the elf could be prim and fastidious.

The game could be about how they overcome their differences and learn how a bond of friendship can give meaning to the life of a middle-aged man after everything else has been turned upside-down.

I'd rather we have the choise than being forced to play a human or a dwarf or an elf. These are supposed to be roleplaying games in the spirit of baldur's gate. I'm sick of this cinematic stuff they are forcing on my throath. Instead of improving the orgins aspect which most of us loved, bioware removed that choise entirely. I don't want this game series to turn into mass effect. Why must everything be alike?

When I first time heard about DA2, I was thinking "great, maybe we'll have the dalish mage storyline this time..or A qunari orgin..." Instead we got Hawke.

Its a shame, so much wasted potential.

The only way I would play as a Dwarf is if the Dwarf can become a mage, or if its Sandal or Varric. Other than that I don't want to be one of them.

That sounds almost like a japanese dating game.

I want multiple races back. It helps make if feel like I'm playing multipe diffrent characters, rather than just different versions of the same character.

I was thinking more Neil Simon than japanese dating game.  Still, I guess it would be inevitable that the characters start rogering each other because, you know, Bioware RPG.

DA 3 : Qunari protagonist, becoming self-aware in Par Vollen. Starting the game you must evade the dogmatic population and incite an uprising among the Qunari, thereby negating the strategic advantage held by the Qunari.

Along the way you will meet many interesting characters who will need your help, because only you can do something about it, and will then swear their unending loyalty to you, only for one of them to stab you in the back during the end game, and one will threaten to leave you if you didn't do their loyalty quest earlier.

There will be many side quests involving picking up random trinkets from barrels and sewers and handing them back to their thoughtless owners, thereby earning you a monetary reward. There may also be other quests, but they won't be nearly as interesting as finding the rightful owner of a lost item.

If my Qunari can jump 20 feet in the air and make an enemy's body explode into 20 gallons of blood by hitting him with a mace, you've got my pre-order.

As much as I love dwarves, I'd rather be an elven criminal who decides to go on a quest to find Hawke, save Thedas, and avoid cops.
But that probably won't happen.

i'd rather DA3 become more like a sandbox rpg, and allow me to help the darkspawn or fight them if i so choose.  it would have been interesting if you could have betrayed duncan and helped the darkspawn in DAO.  but that will never happen either.

However, according to BioWare's data only 5% of DAO players ever chose the dwarf options.

Wow!  I can't believe that.  Are you sure it wasn't that only 5% completed a dwarven playthrough?  If your statement's right then hardly anyonw even got the achievement for playing all the origins.

I liked the dwarven females and I always meant to finish a playthrough with one, but I always liked playing a mage too much.  I found a mod that lets me play Dalish mages in DAO but never one that let me have a dwarven mage.

I wouldn't much enjoy being a dwarf the whole game, I never took to either dwarven origin story, and I hate Orzammar with a passion.

That said I really, really, need Oghren back. That drunk little nug-humping bastard was my favourite character by a mile.

Lol, only 5% chose a Dwarven Origin. But those who did played it 20 times over because they were awesome.

So it's all balanced in the end.

^_^

Seriously though, I've played through 3, twice as Noble, once as Commoner. Didn't finish one of the Noble playthroughs though.

Still, I think the Dwarven Origins were very enjoyable.

I did two of each. Male/female noble, male/female commoner.
