I've seen a tool but it seems way too complicated to use. So, is there anything that would simply let me import the appearance from one saved game to another, like with the Origins appearance editor?

I believe there's a console code that will do the trick. Look around for websites listing all the codes.

Otherwise you can use a tool called GFFF-editor. It's not that tricky, I figured it out in ten minutes. Just be certain to back up any save game you try to manipulate.

I've heard the console cheat doesn't work too well, and you have to input the code from some file that doesn't even open well.

Tried downloading that tool, but I don't even know how to get it running properly!

Still, thanks for replying.

REALLY late to the party here, but I thought I could help (even as a newb). I found that using the GFFE Editor was the quickest and easiest way to do this. This is how I changed my character's appearance from one character to the other (did not change skin or hair color, though):

1). Download GFFE Editor.
2). Open the playerlist.ifo file of the character that has the appearance you want.
3). Make note of the data field for the following fields:
- Appearance_Fhair (or Mhair if you're male, I assume).
- Appearance_Hair
- Appearance_Head
- Appearance_Type.
4). Copy these fields in a notepad or something.
5). Open the player.ifo file in the save file you wish to change.
6). Navigate to the appropriate fields and change them the values noted earlier.
7). Save and exit.
8). Done!

This is what I did and I have yet to experience any problems.

AFAIK you cannot change things like head and hair type in-game, so the editor is probably your best bet.

I just did this and was surprised that I got it to work. One minor error in the list by TS2Aggie.

#5 should say playerlist.ifo also.

So it should read:

5). Open the playerlist.ifo file in the save file you wish to change.

What if you want to change human eyes to vampire eyes or better yet to Storm Genasi eyes. Could that be possible through a script?

If you mean the glowing effect, yes. That can be added by script.

If you mean the actual eyeballs, then that would require creating a new version of the head model. It's actually quite easy to mix-and-match eyeballs. You can use the MDB Cloner tool to change the texture of the eyes.

I've created an elder ogre by cloning and reskinning the ogre mage head and body. The new head has glowing fire genasi eyes and black horns, and the new body now has mithral chainmail.
