So i beat origins a while back on 360 and since then, my 360 has broken and i got a ps3. i saw the used awakening game in the store and decided i wanted it and now im trying to play it and my ps3 is telling me i need to insert dragon age origins CD to play. is there any way i can play awakening without having to go buy the original game first? i really dont feel like spending another 20$ or 30$ on top of the 30$ i already spent for awakening.
I was looking online and it was saying the expansion is playable without original game but it seems it was referring to a different game console.

Nope, Awakenings needs the game data for Origins to be present on the HDD to run on the PS3. Its just like any other expansion,

Just buy the Ultimate Edition. Catch it on sale or used. Far more bang for your buck. It's silly to buy DAO or Awakening anymore.
Awakening is an expansion. Expansions require the original the vast majority of the time. DAO:A is no different. Hints it telling you to insert teh DAO disc.

just picked up awakenings cheap but am having problems getting it to run .!!!!! :0(
did the patch as it says the tried to run the game . spent 20 mins downloading an update no problem but now i try to run it and it asks for the origin disc. so i do that and it starts origin .. how on earth do i get it to run awakenings ???? as everytime it does the same thing !!

You click New Campaign then slide over to Awakening.

thanks but i select new game there is no slide to select ?? and i have to create new characters i was under the impression i could play with my existing ones ?

Delete yoru game data. Install DAO. Don't patch it. Put the Awakenings disc in. Install. Then odds are it'll say put DAO in. Do so and patch it.
Then try new campaign. Select Awakening. An option at some point should offer you the chance to either import or make a new dude.
