Garrus. First because he's a Turian and Turians are my favorites. Second because my personality is a similar in some ways.

Yeah,I know he is just a fictional character, but we share opinion on every single situation in both games.

But he's not my favourite character, and I don't know who is. It's hard enough to pick top 3,but 1...just can't.

A lot of characters are well written. For example -Mordin, his dedication to help others and to science, aware of ethical issues implied. -Joker, his strenght and will. He became the best although he's handicapped. And, of course, his humor. -Miranda, driven to become more than she is by birth. Struggling for her self-esteem, because she felt determinated to be perfect. ...

My favorite? A woman: honest and brave, cheeky and forward (in a positive meaning) with a good humor, independent and caring, a little stubborn but willing to rethink her attitudes. She never takes care if she pleases Shepard. But she cares for him and want's him to care for her and if he does she can show her vulnerable side. A tough soldier and beautiful woman, even in combat armor. By far, she's not perfect, but who is? Her flaws make her even more credible.
''I dont need money, a knight in shining armor or a man to make me happy, this is who i am....i like her *with a smile* and you best too''
Of course, i'm talking about Ashley M. Williams

That was beautiful. And I agree completely.

Not only is Ash my favourite ME character and my only love interest, but I also think she is the most fleshed out character of the series. Many of the other characters, particularly those in ME2, feel quite two-dimensional to me.

In ME1 I wasn't too into her, but the stuff in ME2...Her loyalty mission was awesome, the trial was so passionate, a true demonstration of their friendship. And the cute stuff she says afterwards...And the fact she's just stuck in that suit forever (Without her getting sick)...It makes for a sad story!

What? Tali tried to force Shep to lie in this trial. And why? Only because she didn't want that the quarians get to know the truth about her father. She is always talking about "her people". How important they are to her, how important the "Admirals-Council" is. And then she has not enough courage to lie to them. No problem, Shep will do it...

@Chaos Gate: thx, i agree to you.

Hard to pick...It's a tie between Miranda and Ashley, I guess. They are the only regular LI's on my playthroughs (i.e. I usually pick one of them unless I'm going for diversity) and both their characters are very interesting. Actually, they are similar in some ways. Both of them struggle with their self-esteem. Miranda believes that her given abilities makes all her achievements hollow. Ashley is trying to make up for something her grandfather did. On the outside, both act confident and hide their personalities - Miranda by playing the ice queen and Ashley by immersing herself in the soldier persona. I won't even get into the whole Liara topic, I think she's very well written, too. But, then again, so are almost all main characters in the game. Most of us could probably go on for hours without being able to determine their absolute favourite.

I can see why the ME2 characters may seem 2-dimensional. But I believe the reason for that is that there were so many characters in ME2 that it's hard to keep track with anybody but your favourites. They all have interesting personalities, it's just too much to take in and relate to. I think that may be the reason why the number of squaddies in ME3 is supposed to be cut back to a more reasonable level.

I'm not gonna try to pick from squad members cuz I like most of them, besides Jack I really don't like Jack. But my favorite was prob kirrahe. He knew what to do, hold the line. Anyone else notice that salarians have mostly normal eyes in me2? In me1 they had cool eyes

Anderson! Commander, fellow N7, Alliance hero, vocal advocate, and friend. He always has Shep's back, no matter how crazy things get. Shame he doesn't get much time in ME2. I have high hopes for him in the next game.

On the topic of subtitles, I do play with them on. But I only ever read them when I don't quite catch what was said. This rarely happens, but when it happens it's convenient.

As for Legion, while I don't think it very probably that he is lying, do consider that it is a possibility. As Legion says on his loyalty mission, Geth do not have morals or emotion- there would be absolutely nothing to stop legion from either lying outright or telling the story in a Geth-favorable way.

Definitely the combo of Tali and Garrus though if pushed to pick one I'd give a slight edge to Garrus.

Many series with ensemble casts have a "trinity" of characters that form up as the core of the group. Kirk/Spock/McCoy, Captain America/Iron Man/Thor, etc.

Shepard/Tali/Garrus are pretty much that trinity for me. They are INTRINSICALLY what comes to mind when I think of Mass Effect, the only set of characters to have gone through the entire series side-by-side.

Delanynder, the Presidium Emporium shopkeeper.

Why? First real in game contact with a hanar, and the experience has stuck with me.

I always got irritated by that mechanic on Horizon with the same name - whenever the name "Delan" is mentioned, most people tend to think of that unpleasant person, and not "This one's face name is Delanynder...".

Notable mentions:
Legion - extremely well written; some very deep conversation, and some incredibly funny stuff too!
Ashley - controvertial character, but on the whole I like that.
Wrex - who doesn't like Wrex

I didn't mind not telling them, because it felt like I shouldn't at that moment...So I didn't, and it made her incredibly happy. The moment she says "Shepard...Please..." Couldn't do it. Gah, I do love her voice.

Samara—the most serene, calm woman to ever step on your neck and kill you.

Honorable mention: Morinth, because every great hero needs a great villain. I hope Rila and Falere escape from their cloister, Samara needs a new quarry...

Kasumi, hands down.

She's cool, sauve, sexy, dangerous, talented, has a sense of humour and a wonderful personality. I also feel her story and loyalty mission were the best of the lot. Her comments whilst on missions are also awesome. Plus, as a companion character, she's possibly the most useful; I've found that she both tends to die the least often, hardly ever shoots me in the back, doesn't tend to run off ahead and remain out of cover whilst being hit by missiles that you can see coming for a good five seconds, and her shadow-strike ability is actually really effective.

I would give marvels core trinity to Spidey/Wolvie/Iron Man. That is just me.

Jacob is my favorite. There's a lot more to his personality than is initially apparent, especially with his reluctance to share his feelings. He features one of the most difficult romances in the game, in that he will actually dump Shepard if she pushes too hard. His build makes for excellent support for Soldiers, Infiltrators, and Vanguards in the early game, and works as a solid squadmate for the other three classes throughout the game's entirety. In addition, he's the underdog.
