Garrus I always liked his drive to see the bad guys go down he was a dedicated man in ME but alittle scary in the fact he believes in the ends justify the means. In 2 I like his determination and loyalty but still he gives me pause with his arch angel persona. He definitely keeps things interesting.

After Garrus, other favourite characters are probably Legion, Tali and Kaidan. Legion is generally an awesome, er, guy, no idea why I like Tali, I guess its just that the Quarian lifestyle seems pretty cool (hold the fact they are probably killed by most things). I like Kaidan cos he's kind of quiet and caring, which I kind of relate to. And he's the only human I really like as far as squadmates go.

Grunt/Wrex - They are truly a man's krogan. The bro's before ho's. The krogans' psychology and view on the universe is interesting, as well as how they are impregnably tough both physically and mentally.
Legion is also interesting as well as Thane's species. The drells' history doesn't even fit with Thane's characteristics. The backstory of the drell and their downfall made it all sound like they were selfish and aggressive, like the batarians.

Liara is intelligent and resourceful, and despite being compassionate and a great friend/LI, she becomes ruthless and focussed in her goals. She's fiercely loyal, and an excellent biotic. She's the best of the asari.
Samara is wise and dedicated, but she doesn't let her devotion to the justicars lead her to stupid actions. She knows she's made mistakes and doesn't run from them, instead she decides to deal with them. Despite everything, she still loves her daughters.
Jack is brutal and individualistic. She doesn't sugar-coat her conversation and always says what's on her mind. She has a unique sense of style, and is a survivor. Despite her past, she becomes an excellent member of the team and her loyalty to Shepard means a lot.

Garrus is tough as hell. His sense of justice may be extreme sometimes, but I admire somebody who is willing to give up so much of himself to protect people he will never meet. Does he have problems? Sure. But apart from Liara and Tali, Shep doesn't have a more loyal friend.
Miranda caught me off guard. I thought she was going to be a hard ass ice queen and in the beginning I was right. But the closer Shep got to her, the more you realize that for all her perfection, she has a pretty low opinion of herself. She is also awkward. She knows how to "lord" over people. But when Shep renegade kisses her, she doesn't know how to react. She won me over entirely when she quits Cerberus (an organization she loves) to follow Shep. I hope we get to save her sister from Cerberus in ME 3. That would be awesome.
Honorable mention would go to Illusive Man. You have to love that bastard. One of my favorite antagonists in any story.

For me, it's a toss up between Garrus and Miri.

Kasumi, because of her witty comments and personality.
Garrus, because he's pretty much my bro at this point.
Admiral Hackett, because he's like the only man besides Anderson within the Alliance and the Citadel that believes Shepard is doing the right thing.
Legion, because...well, he's himself.
And Grunt, because he's just cute when he's violent.
