At this point if you have a beef with Dragon Age 2, you might want to consider having steak for dinner. Not even PETA would object to that.
Whacka, you're a vegeterian?
I always figured you where a big buff manly type, who eats 10 tons of steak, drinks vodka mixed with Whiskey, and craps thunder.
Has ranting about Dragon Age 2 become an unhealthy obession for you?

Some of the "streamlining" in this game was strictly UNACCEPTABLE. Period. I don't care if you LOVED the game, we'll chalk that up to a completely understandable difference of opinions, but, for the love of all that is holy, please, PLEASE, stop apologising for it's obvious failings! Map recycling is NOT ACCEPTABLE, people.
If the game's development, and production design, hadn't suffered from either extreme laziness, or, extreme rush-ed-ness... it may have been a "swallowable" sequel. Maybe....
<SEE>
Clearly, I can not talk about the game without ranting yet. This is how frustrated I am by the potential loss of, probably, my favorite game developer to the dark side!
I'll get better...
...eventually...
...I hope.

I always pick apart games to see their unholy guts. DA2 is just the latest to undergo such torture.
And if any game deserves to be picked apart, it's definitely this one.
I can think of at least 10 candiates more "deserving" of that honor.
Actually no, I take it back. Not even Gothic IV "deserves" this kind of fanaticism.

Almost.
But the problem wasn't that I had high expectations. This just wasn't Dragon Age anymore. And on top of that, it felt like a cheap cash-in trick.

I enjoyed DA2, despite the many flaws I criticize constantly, and wonder how best to convey that to Bioware. I do have fun playing DA2, but if I continue to support their DLCs and expansions, will they misread this as my supporting unwelcome changes with my hard earned money?
So I post my concerns and compliments and hope they're read and understood by Woo and his buddies monitoring these forums. Whether or not I post in a forum depends on whether I like the company a forum keeps and whether someone writes something I feel the need to respond to.
Sobriety can also be a factor. Consider yourselves warned.

I think it’s a fair question and one that goes along with how I feel. I’ve been upset with Dragon Age 2 since it came out...
If you feel BioWare has cheated you out of $60, aren't you cheating yourself by spending time on their forums?
This is what I would've done myself.
Right now I'm playing The Witcher and I'm finding it dreadful. I don't plan to ever waste any time on forums expressing my dislikes. Maybe a single post where I voice my dislikes (or better, a personal blog entry), but not ranting for two freakin months.

Man, I had such an awesome response to your post, but by the time the "quote" screen came up, I forgot it. Dammit. And I just sneeze my lime jello shot on my girlfriend's iBook or whatever this Macintosh pink thing is. I think I'm done for the night.

Hanging around the forums may be just out of obsession or hatred for the game for some or its possible that some hold out some sliver of hope that the perceived shortcomings of DA2 can be acknowledged and fixed in the future, whether that's DLC or a sequel. I think many of the people that rant likely do so because they liked what Origins established to some extent and are upset at what DA2 did and thus hope to see whatever comes next as more in line with what they enjoyed out of Origins and not what they disliked about DA2, whatever that may be.
Basically, a good number of people aren't ranting out of pure hate or spite for Dragon Age overall, but are doing so because they actually like Dragon Age but didn't like DA2 and actually might have some interest in the future of Dragon Age as a franchise, but not necessarily if Dragon Age keeps on moving down the path DA2 established.

Ha! Too true!
Probably would be a popular thread. Though, it could attract the people who rant and disagree with threads ranting about others ranting on DA2 becoming an obsession.

I come here because I love the game (if I hated it I would not want to talk about it for longer than a day) and since rants are all over the place, it's rather hard to avoid them.

Avoid them is what I say. You can pick to what you want to read gleaning through the ad hominem, to what you want to reply. I avoid the ranting, but constructive criticism is a good thing and I think that for those who found the game not to their liking is just as valid as those who liked it for their reasons. I don't need reasons why I like or dislike a game based on the thoughts of others, ultimately the reasons are my own. But, if someone has relevant points to share about the games they play, I read them, because sometimes I may not be seeing or experiencing the things they do.

Oh, I do avoid most of it, and I never reply to the "foaming at the mouth" hate posts. Still, it's hard not to take a glance at all the threads if you visit the forums. But I do admit that it's very easy to simply not look. I may start doing that from now on really, avoiding the general discussion boards altogether and sticking to the companion and storyline forum.
But, if someone has relevant points to share about the games they play, I read them, because sometimes I may not be seeing or experiencing the things they do.
I do read that stuff. The constructive criticism thread was great and I actually agree with a lot of the complaints there. I just don't think we needed 100 constructive criticism threads.

But then, that leaves nothing else but ranting and pure socializing (which can be done in the off-topic forum). I see no problem with making various threads about the game with constructive thought as one thread (that you emntioned) isn't going to cover all aspects anyway; It isn't simply about constructive criticisms being made only relevant to one thread and belonging there. Many threads created are good reads and many times are or about particulars of the game. Even in the CC thread, there are ranters and flamers.
Think about it, if all CC was limited to that one thread, how many people would lose interest here since that would be the only topic outside of soemthing particular and meaningful they want to discuss using a different subject line, outside of flame wars and rants?

I think it depends. having a large thread to collect it all is good, especially for BioWare to go through it, but it doesn't make a good place for debating the points, too much going on in one place means other things get lost and drowned out. having seperate threads for different discussions makes it much easier than having a dozen overlapping conversations
