Been running around doing a half dozen quests while waiting for the sun to go down ( I have two queststo do that take place "at night")

Took the dragons amulet back, ran all over Kirkwall - sun is still up

wtf??

Is there anything like a "Wait" command?

Go to the city map > click the city with the moon icon in the lower right > profit

You can shift between day and night at will using the city map as Hooray points out.

thanks - that wasn't too complicated. It'd be nice if the info was in the manual though

This is btw why Hawke is the most important person in Thedas.

He's the one with the button that makes the sun go down and up, for everyone.

Hey its a feature put in just for those players who feel the world should revolve around them. They just went a little too literal.

It's a double-edged sword. Sure we can control time, but during night, homicidal maniacs appear. Afterall, swooping. Is. Bad...

And as it is poor Hawke doesn't get a bed till years later. It's a wonder why he/she never got invited to hang out with his/her companions. Perhaps, Hawke was also known for being cranky.

Is it me or does the time of day change with each act? It sure looks like it is early morning in act 1 and dusk by act 3. I notice it most in hightown.

Well at least he gets a bed of his own eventually. The Warden had to sleep on the ground. The one night he finally got a bed Morrigan came up with some rediculous story so she could share it with him.

But...She was lonely, and The Warden was her first real friend. She lived a pretty isolated life with Flemeth, not knowing the luxury of friendship. And Fereldan nights are pretty cold, so she had to share a cot with her BFF.Image IPB

unless I'm mistaken it seldom, if ever, rained in DA Origins. I seem to recall, I might be mistaken, it rained during the battle of Ostagar. I think I heard thunder. again, I'm not sure. It didn't rain in Denerim, outside of Orzammar, or anywhere else for that matter.

Unless I'm mistaken, it didn't change to night/day unless the story required it. Again, I think it was night during the battle at Ostagar and maybe the final battle. Also, it seemed to be dark outside of Orzammar.

Lol, it's like a light switch.

(Goes to map) ^_^ "On! ....Off.... ON! ..... Off...."

Lol though I have to admit, actual weather would be nice instead of the same ol' same ol'

I'd like for the game to have it's own internal clock, where maybe 1 minute in real life is equal to 20 minutes of time passing by in Thedas. Add into that randomized weather effects building up, and you have a solid setting.

1 minute passes: Clouds begin to form
another minute passes: Clouds cover the entire skyline
another minute passes: rain begins
another 8 minutes pass: It's raining harder and harder.

While the above suggestion SOUNDS cool? I don't want to have playing a Dragon Age game begin feeling like the newest installment of GTA.

I'm fine with randomizing weather, though. That would be a cool way to shake things up a little.

how can a world that has day and night functioning properly make someone go "This feels like Grand Theft Auto!!"?

I've played GTA before, and that is hardly something that would make me go "Well, this is like GTA". Now if we started hijacking dragons/horses/brontos/whatever that people were riding, then I would feel like I'm playing GTA

All fictional settings have night and day. It's reasonable to ask that they make it reflect this in some form.

Unfortunately weather comes at a cost of performance. Even in sundermount as you go up the paths there are a few places with a bit of fog or mist and I get a small change in game performance on the xbox. Stuff like snow and rain could probably cause slow downs especially on min spec machines.

There's very light snowfall outside of Orzammar. As far as rain goes that seems about right for DAO (unless i'm forgetting something)  There's some rain falling in the beginning of Awakening.

The thing with DA is, bulk of the lighting for the levels is pre-calculated and fixed. So each change of weather and/or time of day requires separate copy of the level with its own lighting/shadow textures and they're all static. Games which calculate all their lighting on the fly have huge advantage here, since they can do the passage of time and changes of weather at much lower cost, in comparison.

Link could do it by playing an Ocarina...At least he didn't have to walk into the egde of an area to work his magic.

And when you pressed a button, Link actually did something awesome!
