Has anyone else noticed this? I cannot play a nice/sarcastic guy and blend it in with aggressive dialogue options. This is because Hawke's voice completely changes. I can't really explain it, but he has this lighter voice when inquiring and taking the nice/sarcastic options. As soon as an aggressive options is blended in, his voice goes down 12 pitches on the chromatic scale, to a point where his voice is unrecognisable.

When playing lady Hawke, i noticed she still keeps her nice/sarcastic tone, but just speaks aggressively.

Anyone else noticed this? It's bugging the hell out of me, the aggressive option is jarring as hell when playing a nice/sarcastic guy.

I've done one run through with a male sarcastic!Hawke and I didn't find that many inconsistencies, but then I think the only time I ever used the aggressive options was when confronting the serial killer/necromancer in a "Shut Up. Where's my mother?" moment, and that made sense given that Hawke was under great emotional stress. But even then it still sounded like the same guy, just angry.

Though I may be biased as I just really don't like the female voice actress' delivery of the humor lines (/opinion)

I've noticed that too. Some of the lines are OK, but it's almost like Hawke has a split second personality change, and then goes back to normal if you return to your old personality choices.

EXACTLY! I try to RP this guy, and there are moments when I want my sarcastic Hawke to be more serious. But then his voice changes completely, and it just feels really jarring.

Some moments he is aggressive with his normal voice, and they are the moments i love; but the majority of the aggressive dialogue isn't like that.

Pretend your Hawke has a voice range and drops his pitch when he's getting mad/impatient?

it is an issue, but at least he puts more effort into each personality individually than femhawke.

Agreed.  I liked both voices pretty well, there are a few inconsistencies but a very very tough job when you are recording things line by line, probably at different times and probably with very different voice direction.

Good to see I wasn't the only one that thought it jarring.

I noticed this with both Lady and Man Hawke. It drove my OCD up the wall.

It doesn't bother me too much. There are one or two instances when it jarrs but overall the VA did a good job. I liked his voice very much in Origins and was glad they chose him for Hawke.
I really don't like the LadyHawke voice, though, so despite being female, I've only played male Hawkes so far. It's not that the acting is bad, just that the voice is too high pitched and too posh. I can't listen to it.

I feel the aggressive options fit if you're trying to act impatient / angry.

You mean that's not what normal people do? Excuse me apparently I need to start being more monotone and lose my "angry drawl".

At least he provides variety in his tone. I wasn't getting that feeling with female Hawke. Aggressive is supposed to sound aggressive for a reason. Male Hawke delivers his lines infinitely better in that regard.

It's not just the voice acting, it's also the facial expression. I mean, you can exchange friendly and sarcastic without much trouble, but when you put in an aggressive answer, he doesn't just look angry and short-tempered for that particular line, he's on perma-scowl.

I solved it by staying away from the aggressive options except during All That Remains. But perhaps there is a difference in delivery between rude/direct and agressive? I don't know about that.
