I like it better...

now all we need is another squaddie with the last name of Winnfield with a sick fro and stache to create the deadliest combo since tali-garrus.

Seriously. There was a kid with the last name Vega back when I was in HS. He was a clown. It's hard for me to take this name seriously now. Sanders was so much better. :P

It says a lot though if they are still designing the guy, and it was supposed to be out later this year.....

I'll call him Vega for short. With that said, the name calls to mind Vega Obscura from New Century Zero. That said, I'm okay with the name. It's a last name, suggest a Spanish heritage, but so what? Just because you're last name and possibly your family is Spanish (or any ethnicity, for that matter), does not mean you have to stick to names associated with it.

@darkiddd those are too common, what about Segismundo Vega, Alarico Vega, Coriolano Vega, Porfirio Vega, Primo Vega, Carmelo Vega, Olegario Vega, Aquilino Vega, Primitivo Vega, Anacleto Vega, Teobaldo Vega, Crescencio Vega, Fulgencio Vega, Cayetano Vega, Fructuoso Vega, Otilio Vega, Wenceslao Vega...lots of weird spanish names to pick [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

We could even dismiss Spanish and go for Galician, Catalan, and Basque names! That would be extremely cool. Eneko Vega, Lope Vega, Silban Vega, Didac Vega, Valeri Vega, Sergi Vega, Breixo Vega, Néstor Vega, Rui Vega...

You do realize that the Spanish and Latinos are not the same people right? First starters, look at a map and find where Spain is in relation to Latin America. Not to mention the obvious differences in height, skin, hair, and eye color. And also the way and how they speak the language is completely different. Therefore, the Spanish are European, not Latinos. Ignorance, truly is bliss.

Uh, WestWood wasn't clear on what nationality Vega is.

Edit: Apparently, I ****ed up on the actor's background. He's 1/3rd Mexican, 1/3rd Irish, and 1/3rd Italian. He's an Italian-born American.

Those names are just too ****ing ugly for spaniards like you and me (no offense if someone with any of these names reads this:P)
I agree the other names you have put are cool, I wouldn't mind one of those either.

I thought you moved on from this.

On-Topic: Lunatic you missed quoted me. My quote was beneath that. I didn't write faceplam or the below paragraph. So his actor is Latin?

NOTE: Spaniards are not Latin. Using the two terms as though they are synonymous is incorrect. Spaniard is what you call someone from Spain and it is better to use that word to avoid confusion. Sorry. Don't blame me. Blame slavery and racial mixing.

On-Topic: I'm getting a "jock" vibe from him already from that steroid description.

They probably checked the wiki and realised that there was already a character in the ME universe with the surname of Sanders.

Uh, no. The actor is from Spain (and I know my geography, just to get the record straight). The only thing I was confused on was General Vega's nationality (the character himself). And oops, my bad on mis-quoting. Been trying to find that other post.

Is it just me, or do people have selective reading? Vega's nationality was not given in Tiberian Sun. The ACTOR is Spanish. Learn2read.

Turians are not animals, they are sapient aliens.

sapient beings doesn't make one special, at least not in the way you implying. They are still animals in the same way we are.

Hudson avoided my question for the most part, so we don't know if James Vega is the only new squadmate or not.

Name does not matter, his fighting skills do... He can be Sanders, Vega, Castor or even Fornax! Gun damage output is not affected by gun`s name anyway...

I hope he has an accent. I find it weird how all of the Alliance folks are either Canadian or American. Meanwhile, two of the human squaddies with seedier reputations (Cerberus goon, mercenary) are Australian and English respectively. O_o

If someone is talking in Japanese it shall be translated into English in real time without accent. Also, seeing how english is the Alliance standard language, I'd think that most people would learn English from very young ages, and thus have little to no accent.

I don't give a damn what linguistics work like in the 22nd century, we need more humans with sexy accents. Canadians and Americans are so boring.
Miss Strahovski was an excellent start, but I demand more.
