But you are not Bi. You can't speak for the community. Ergo, you should keep opinions to yourself.

This game is a perfect example of what happens when developers catered specifically to fans fanatics.

I don't know if it's just me, but telling other people they should "keep their opinions to themselves" on a public discussion forum seems like complete fail that wrecks your own point.

Right...
so you think DA2 is shallow, that means they were going after the
Twilight audience, because the Twlight audience is shallow. That's a
pretty heroic leap.

Why is it a heroic leap? If somebody says "I think they're going for the Twilight fans here, and I'm not one" WRT the game because of one characteristic, and somebody thinks the comment is apt and amusing, why is the meaning of that not self-evident?

Because it's a baseless comparison. The only category you've fit them together with is so broad that it's really useless as a point of comparison, even if we accept your assessments of DA2 and the Twilight fanbase.

...but you're free to accept it or not, nobody was really trying to persuade you of it, or put it forward as some sort of incontrovertible analysis.

By deconstructing that throwaway (funny, if you like) remark as if it was something it wasn't, we've not really achieved.. much...

What options? There was absolutely none whatsoever in this game. The people here pretending to be gay or lesbian have ruined the DA series with there ridiculous demands for equal romances.

Why can't you be happy with Origins style? When is it enough for you people?

Why can't you be happy with DA2 style? See I can do it too.

I hope in DA3 they get rid of all Bi romance and put back exclusive straight romances.

Let the LGBT people speak for themselves.

Why would you want them to limit the romance options completely towards the straight crowd only? Doesn't seem like the most valid solution ever, and not particular fair towards those who enjoy the Bisexual romances either. Besides Origins had both, so what do you mean by "put back".

They will never be content, man. They are insatiable, man! Game over man, game over!

...then again, we're only talking about four characters in a video game turning out to be bisexual.
I think your precious heteronormative will be around for another day.

It's funny since the bi LIs in DAO where the best options in the game

I simply cannot see the motivation for wanting to limit optional choices in the game that other people like, but you do not.

Choose not to follow that path if you like, but for crying out loud, don't ask for the game to be nerfed for other people.

Imagine if other people wanted your favourite character choices removed on the same basis?

I don't see this. If you only play ladyhawke, the only person you know who is bi in game is Izzy, unless you meta game. Same with malehawke, you will know Anders and Izzy are bi, but not Fenris or Merrill. I don't see how it's unrelistic or unbelieveable.

Not true.  You get the "heart" option for Fenris and Merrill no matter what, and both do flirt with Hawke no matter what.  It's easier to miss since neither is as outspoken as Anders and Merrill, but it's unmistaekably there.  Instead of criticizing others for their supposed sexual views, why not admit that this was lazy programming that tried to appeal to everyone using the easiest and sloppiest technique?  This isn't about (at least for me) the issue that "hetero gamers should have their own romances" but rather, the odds of all possible LIs being Bi is so low that it reflects badly on the verisimilitude of the game threatening to make LI RPing uninteresting and plastic.  That's my complaint on this score....politics has zip to do with it.

I think this is truly pathetic, to be honest. Mass media is saturated with heterosexuality, and people are complaining about four bisexual video game characters supposedly indicating that a "gay agenda" is in existence, and that it is a threat to their heteronormative little world.

Get a grip, ffs.

The game is NOT forcing you into anything.  I suggest you work on your security issues.

Exactly, and perfectly phrased (rivalry, hehehe).

There is nothing about the game that forces you to begin or maintain a relationship with anyone, regardless of their or your orientation. It's completely optional.

You know what's ridiculous? EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAID. And here's a tip: "you people" is pretty much always offensive, regardless of context.

And if ruining the DA series for people like you is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Exactly.

The game doesn't force anyone into any relationship, you're perfectly free to turn them down. Is it that men are bothered by getting the rivalry points for turning down Anders? Bah, haven't people ever seen someone get offended at being turned down? It's a character quirk, it's not a big deal at all.

And if it's the sheer thought of being hit on by a man that bothers some, well, Yahtzee said it best: "Are there men so insecure that they're offended by fictional gay men coming onto their fictional avatars?"

But as was said before, logic and good reasoning aren't exactly rampant in these forums.

And the thing is these same man complaining about it would have NO issues when their wives or girlfriends play a female Hawke romancing either Isabela or Merrill.

Just because you flirt with someone does not mean they are gay/bi, you will only know if that's the case after you flirt. If you flirt it is your fault if they become intrested in you. Also Merrill and Fenris do not flirt with you at all, you have to make the first step, Anders and Izzy do flirt with oyu, but Anders past with Karl is only brought up if your male, so you will not know he is bi.

The only person you know who is bi with out metagaming is Izzy. There's nothing wrong choices, and I don't see how it was sloppy.

I understood the heart-option as 'Hawke initiates flirt', so unless you check your companions out by flirting with them, you don't know about their orientation, from an in-universe point of view.

Come on, every country outside the States have mad sexual comments about you being openly promiscuous and dating men without consequences. You should experience the real world instead of hiding in your country.

Back on topic: Anders was straight in Awakening but then Hapler had to poof Karl out of thin air and write dialogues making Anders gay

I suppose in your world view women and gay and lesbian gamers should NOT be allowed to game. <_<

You sir are an obvious troll and this post will eventually get locked.

Now go be a good boy and wait for Duke Nukem Forever where you can kill all you want. :bandit:

I don't doubt there will be some women in the game where you objectify and subjugate them as well.  if you don't know what those words mean, look them up.

I can hardly believe that every single companion I have (except Sebastion) is Bisexual. That is the most rediculous part of this game I have ever experience. I never rememeber Anders being Bi or Merrill being Bi.

There's no indication that Aveline or Varric are bisexual.

General_Minus wrote...

For Isabella sure but Fenris mmmm maybe....

Why is it an issue if Fenris is bisexual?

General_Minus wrote...

Anyway, I was looking through the reasoning behind it and found out most fans wanted it?

I also don't believe the majority of everyone in this board is gay, lesbian or bi. That would be far fetched.

I'm not gay or bisexual, but I don't have an issue with going the Torchwood route. People should be allowed to pursue a LI without having to restart the game and playing as a gender they don't want to simply to see their protagonist with a particular character.
