Pretty close to a universal truth.

Sweet. The Metacritic "argument" again. Guess what, STILL not hopping on the bandwagon.

If a (skewed) "majority" makes or breaks a piece of entertainment, then Lady Gaga is a better singer than Renee Fleming. (Who, you ask? Point proven) <_<

Why's Lady Blah Blah a better singer than Renee Fleming?!Image IPB

Or are you just saying that to prove that the majority listing their complaints in the constructive criticism thread is mistaken about the game's flaws? I'm kinda confused here (haven't had a cup of coffee yet...)

I am explaining why the Metacritic user score or ANY user score means nothing to me:

Lady Gaga outsells Renee Fleming many, MANY times. Her "user reviews" are also much higher than Renee Fleming's. Does that make her a better singer than Renee Fleming (Universal truth...Metacritic score...bah!) ? No way. So I'll never hop on a user score/review bandwagon regarding ANY game, artist, movie, you name it.

Ah, that makes sense. You shuld always form your own opinon on something, rather than listen to dumbasses who'll try to persuade you not to try something, simply because it's not to THEIR liking.

Yep. And every time the "Just look at Metacritic!" card gets played, I so want to play the "You're just afraid of change card!". Equally point- and baseless arguments.

I am glad that OP loved it. But I didn't. If we compare DA2 with other BW games, it is a small worthless rock among gems and diamonds.

Well, I for one like it more than BG1&2, ME1&2, NWN1 and KOTOR. Even a tad more than DAO.

I agree with your opinion. Though i'd mark it as "IMO" next time. Otherwise, people might start flaming you.

Yes, those glaring flaws I never encountered. Or those that I thought were just as annoying in Origins. I have no standards, I guess. ;):wizard:

Level Design has never been very high on my Top Ten list for must haves in Bioware RPGs. (The repeated levels were annoying, yes, but no deal breaker to me) I recently fired up The Witcher again to get my "perfect" TW2 save and to see Vizima again after everyone called it ah so awezum. Vizima bores me to tears with its 3 different looking NPCs and even the streetwalkers ALL look alike! (Except Carmen) And if I hear "I'm dying, I know it!" one more time.....God, I haven't even finished the Swamp yet. (Going there again and again....awezum indeed) Don't ask me why I'm more forgiving in Kirkwall's case. Maybe because it's flaws were noted and not swept under the rug ala Vizima. :P

@Perse At least it rains in Vizima, the guards are reactive to vampires, Ghouls and such, and That was made on BioWare's own age-old Aurora engine. While BioWare used a newer engine for building Kirkwall, yet Kirkwall was so static and lifeless. Also, nothing changes over 7 years(except for an impostor having a statue of The Arishok's head under his boot).

I'd think most people with half a brain would know it's their opinion, anyway, and the one's too thick to realize that are easily ignored.  :P

I'm on my fourth playthrough of this game (would be more, but I've sated my curiosity on how the different classes play...although I do still need to play through with a sword-and-board Warrior and an Archer Rogue).  I've played through ME2 three times, and I'm also on my fourth one, although that's mostly just so I can get myself set up for Mass Effect 3, and to play the DLC I haven't gotten to yet.

Compare that to, say, the first time I played Xenosaga 2.  I lasted for 15 hours before I broke the disc and threw it away in disgust and revulsion.

Dragon Age 2 is a good game, though, which surprised me.  (Hell, when Game Informer posted its first preview, you can read the thread I made ranting about it here:  http://killingifrit....-dragon-age-ii/  I'm the guy with the firebird fetish, to avoid any confusion.)  Hated the art direction, and the demo pissed me off to no end.  When I finally got my hands on the game, though, I liked it enough to beat it 3 times and start on another playthrough.

It has its flaws, but if you think this is a bad game you're probably living in a cave, and only sneaking out into society to purchase Bioware games before scurrying back to your dank hovel.  I'll be fair, though; the quality of Bioware's past games is probably the source of the discrepancy between user reviews and industry reviews--only one of those two has to put up the semblance of objectivity, after all.  Well, that, and on a psychological level, negative experiences are far more likely to provoke a response than positive ones...

Too long; didn't read version:  I like this game.  It doesn't titillate my fancy, like a Xenogears remake that actually finished development on the second disc and gave us a refined translation a la the Final Fantasy Tactics remake would, but it's still a damn good game that I intend to play through again as soon as they start actually adding story content.  My only real gripes with the game are the repeating areas, the inability to talk to one's companions save for certain quests, and that the soundtrack isn't nearly as striking as DA:O.  (Really, Leliana's Song nearly brought me to tears, and the main theme is terribly iconoclastic and beatiful and, thus, memorable.)

Please continue making awesome games like this, Bioware.

The game was okay I guess, but I didn't really like it that much (one playthrough as opposed to over 10 in DA:O). The flaws are just too much for me, but I am glad other people don't mind them for the sake of having a good experience. I do think it is important that if you like the game, but really don't care for a certain aspect (like re-used environments) you say so to the devs. I certainly want improvement for DA3 (if that even comes out) and I'm hoping you (as in you "FANBOIS") do so as well.

Oh, my wounded heart.  Pro tip: if you want to call me on a particular brand of subjectivist fallacy, it's probably best not to partake in said fallacy in the process...I'll avoid making underhanded compliments on Bioware's development capability in the future just to avoid such ugly misunderstandings.

In honor of your post, though, I'll refrain from using tongue-in-cheek, self-deprecating sarcasm in the future. Not because I fear the consequences, mind you, just because they're likely to incite responses so banally unentertaining that they don't warrant my attention in the first place.

Whereas if you dislike the game, you are welcome to derail a certain forum for over a month in God knows how many topics?

No thanks.  I'm sick of the self-entitled rants by people who have neither the enthusiasm nor productivity to develop their own game.  DA2 had it's flaws, but said flaws are hardly worth the continued, unjustified pessmism of those terming themselves "Bioware fans".

Same here. As in highly inaccurate and useless. I prefer to form my own opinions. ;)

How many reviews have you two Beavis and Butt-head imitations actually read?
