I don't feel like making a long-ass quote so...

@Perse At least it rains in Vizima, the guards are reactive to vampires, Ghouls and such, and That was made on BioWare's own age-old Aurora engine. While BioWare used a newer engine for building Kirkwall, yet Kirkwall was so static and lifeless. Also, nothing changes over 7 years(except for an impostor having a statue of The Arishok's head under his boot).

I can see Laidlaw giggling to himself thinking how clever that was.

So you're saying that Laidlaw troll'd us?

It's possible. But I was referring to how he thought having one statue made over the course of seven years was a brilliant move to change the city. Not even our politicians are this corrupt.

@OP
Props to you for playing it 15 times. I only played 3 times, one for each class. Most of what you said I agree with. The first time I played I was so drawn to the story I didn't pay attention to the reusing of map, but on the later playthrough it starts to get annoy.

I can relate to Varric, because my considerable plume of silky plush chest hair brings all the girls to the yard.  Image IPB

I admit, my eyes are drawn to certain places on Isabela.

Specifically those giant....

Well, I didn't really like DAO - I completed it, but I thought the four sidequests seemed artificial, drawn out and somewhat dull, though the beginning and ending were great. As for DA2, I started out liking it a lot, but somewhere in act II the constant repitition of maps started to get to me and as I'm in a minority of people who really don't like the Qunari having to deal with them so much kinda killed it for me. I've abandoned the game in the middle of act III and don't know if I'll manage to complete it. I'm fine with not managing inventory and the character of Hawke etc. it really is the regurgitation of maps that make all the quests seem repetitive that is the big issue in my view.

More power to those of you who loved/liked it. I tried, I really did and I thought it was pretty good through act 1, but by the end of act 2 the repetition in the environments started grinding on me (even though I liked the story arc) but Act 3 was just so ... odd. It felt pasted on even though it was a continuation of the budding storylines that present themselves earlier on.

de gustibus non est disputandum I guess.

My DA2 experience was somewhat spoiled by the extreme recycling of environments. A little bit of it, for some minor sidequests is acceptable, but DA2 really went over the top with this. Also Kirkwall is notably missing... ambience, the feeling of the city being alive. Not to mention development/changing over the 7 years.

But overall... I liked it too, found it very immerssive. Was a huge leap forward in combat and game mechanics compared with DAO.

I just don't see how ANYONE can step in and defend the game. The repetitive areas, the underwhelming story, the weight-less ness of your decisions, the bugs (still a lot present), the pointless inventory system (junk items anyone? having an Item class PURELY for the sake of being called Junk...are you retarded?), the lack of companion customisation, the fact that in 7 years the city doesn't change AT ALL, not to mention a certain character not cleaning his house in 7 YEARS!! Lol....I could go on, but there's little point, Bioware got this one soooo wrong.

Initially I tried to ignore these glaring faults and convince myself it was a good game, but after the 10th time I ran round the Wounded Coast or "that cave"...my denial was fading.

I can embrace change, as long as it isn't handled by someone with the design ability and competence of a 12 year old.

Not really...more like a disappointed sigh. But it does say something when all you have to come back with is that flippant comment. The reason? Because everything I said in my post is true, and them some.

Simple, we just do, because we like it. It's not really something you have to understand.

Indeed. I thought DA2 was much more enjoyable than DAO. I still have yet to finish Origins because I find it that hard to keep playing. At least DA2 is fun for me and I can enjoy the Dragon Age universe at the same time.

because nobody understands or cares about anyones right to be different, the nerds think everybody should 'l2P' meaning devoting all your waking hours to scientifically picking apart every game mechanic to 'pwn' one and all, while the casuals think the nerds should get out of their parents basements once in a while and climp a real mountain, ride a horse, get laid etc..really..its simple..let each to their own

I'm guessing most people did enjoy it.

I certainly did. Not as much as DA:O, but I did enjoy it.

I enjoy DA2 just as much as DA:O. I haven't found a series I've enjoyed more than DA. period. Though there are things we love and things we don't in every game we play. In my opinion BW should be proud of DA2 :)

^ Indeed. There is no perfect game, you can't expect developers to get everything right all the time. I reckon the recycled areas was just something to do with complications and time restraints during development of the game. I reckon if these guys have such a good idea of what the perfect RPG is supposed to look like then they can create it themselves. It will at least get their minds on other things.
