Hey Mass Effect players!

Ok, so I recently bought Mass Effect 2 off of steam when it was on sale. So I left it to download over night, the next day I try to run it I get the promt box to ask what I want to play so I select Launcher so i can get the config up just so I can set the right resolution. I then save the settings and close the config, now when ever I click play (for the actual game) it come up with "Mass Effect 2 has stopped working." I've been trying to look around but I can't seem to find anything about this as its usually for Mass Effect rather than Mass Effect 2. The most frustrating thing is that the demo worked on this PC that I'm trying to run it on, I dont know if that means anything but I thought I'd add it to see if that helps.

3GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

It's really starting to annoy me because all of the other Bioware games work fine. <_<

try to change the config. Lower the resolution, details and so on. If it still doesn't work, reinstalling the game could solve it.
you could also try to contact the official ea support (live chat), that might be the fastest way.

Are you running the game in XP capability mode and under administrator settings?? Is there any settings in Steam that might be interfering with it, similar to what EADM is doing with "ingame" settings?? Have you run the config utility and hit default and see if it works, or is anything listed under the diagnostics area that doesn't seem to meet specs? Did you install DirectX 9.0c(required to play) when you installed the game??
