The only reason they're "above" the rest of the ME2 squad is that they've been with you through the duration of ME1. If it wasn't for that I doubt they would be as popular or important as they are now.

At least, they wouldn't for me.

The only thing that honestly bothers me is the band-wagoners. The people that were fans of Tali, Garrus, ect. from day ONE; congrats. But the band-wagoners coming in and unnecessarily hating on the ME2 squaddies who aren't confirmed yet is childish.

So while all this is going on Bioware's thinking maybe character X and Y weren't as popular as we initially thought. Let's scrap them and make room for someone more popular. I have the characters that I like and dislike. But I try to at least keep the comments constructive and keep the bashing to a minimum.

Were you not here for ME1 to ME2? Tali and Garrus fans were having a feild day ad raining all over the parades of Liara, Wrex, and VS fans. The same thing is happening again except the scale is much larger. It's bull**** and Bioware should be ashemed for having learned nothing from the ME1->ME2 event.

They were optional and killable in ME2. Miranda is mandatory and harder to kill. So that's a weak excuse for why they're getting special treatment.

Liara was just a temporarily squadmate in LotSB, but I thought it did more for her character than ME1 and 2 combined.

As long as the squadmates can leave a good impact on the story and as characters in ME3, I'm happy. I don't care if I can't take them with me on all my missions or not.

In any case, I don't know what you intend to accomplish by riling up two of the biggest fanbases except maybe incite another flame war. Frankly I think we've had enough of those.
Frankly I'm glad Garrus is returning and now that he's the only alien squadmate so far confirmed in Mass Effect 3 who actually looks, you know, alien I'm looking forward to having him and Ashley fight alongside me once more.
Tali isn't one of my favorites but I'm not going to cry from the heavens because she's returning. Hell, I think Miranda Lawson is probably one of the worst things to ever be labelled a 'character' in modern popular culture, but even then I don't protest her return in Mass Effect 3 because obviously others do like her.
I like recurring characters. It makes a trilogy feel solid, would Lord of the Rings been as good if Gimli and Legolas randomly disappeared in the second half?

I think I get what you are saying with the whole 'hypocritical' thing, in relation to everyone mocking the VS fans for wanting to see their favorite characters return into the game... only to then make a few 'where is Tali' demand threads as information about Mass Effect 3 came in.
I get that, it annoyed me too.

But here's the thing:
All you are doing is adding hypocricy to the hypocritical basis. You are doing the same thing that has been done to the VS fans and fans of other less popular characters in the past. In other words YOU are now being the hypocrite.

In any case, so far confirmed are Ashley, Kaidan, Garrus, Liara, Tali, Wrex, Legion, Jack, Mordin and Anderson and that's not bad. I assume everyone will have an appearance in some way, shape or form in the third game.

Point is, stop being mean to people. Yes the Tali/Garrus fanbase has had it better for a long time, that's no reason to insult them. Just because people have it better than you, does not mean they are 'enemies' and it doesn't mean you have to insult them.

Reasonable post is reasonable.

Though I'd argue that nobody in this thread has been givng VS fans a hard time and honestly, I can't remember the last time I saw a Talimancer (or Garrusmancer for that matter) insulting a VS or some other fan. Generally we all want our favourite characters back and we all want to enjoy ME3. Can't we all just get along?

Except it has already been stated that if they died during the SM that they will remain dead and there will be no retcon or handwaving.
