If DLC always requires me to start new games or go back to an earlier save, chances are I won't be bothering with much of it. I'm playing the heck out of this game right now, by the time most DLC content arrives, I won't be very interested in starting new games if that's always required in order to experience the new content.

true... they could make a new feature... For example Combat log! For only 8$... Go go go... But wait! If they would have made a expansion they could have added it there + you would get more things!
In the end DLC is bad for gamers. Paying More for less and worse quality is bad.
But it is the only way companies can actually survive long term. Hate it or not, DLC is the future of gaming. Why do you think it has become so prevelant? The developers create the games because they love creating them, the guys that employ them though want to make money.
in another thread that the Mod locked, i posted something of my own history regarding DLC content as it was being discussed at the earliest levels. DLC content was just a twinkle in the eye of a young upstart suit....yes we knew it was coming....was it because people were going broke? was it to continually feed the beast? yes it was a little of both. i can COMPLETELY understand the economic implications... but in order to turn a continual profit, your Stand-alone....what they now refer to as "Core" content, you have to provide a reason for people to want to buy that additional content. the caveat was that this additional content could NEVER become an absolute intregal part of the "core" games enjoyment. as i watch the developers of today, i can see the writing on the wall...skimped content at release, dlc shinies at release as well simultaneous release of both instead of what we used to have ....a "complete vision" in one package.

An opportunity to reclaim the lost arms and armor of a king.
What are we meant to do with his arms ?
Start building a new King ?
But I think Bioware should give us everything for free, all at once. Even stuff that hasn't been made yet. Because I a pretensious, entitled teenager and I think I deserve things.

The way it is now, you can only play Premium (DLC) content and Premium content alone once you've finished the game (main quest). So while there's no need to start a new game to experience new DLC's, I still think we should be allowed to roam the entire world instead of just being limited to the Camp and these DLC areas.
It makes no sense if all I could do with my level 20 character is experience a little less than an hour worth of extra content, then pack her up and wait for the next DLC.

Not only that but all the gear/items you get in the new DLC will be useless to you since you won't actually be able to use them for any meaningful amount of time after completing the DLC content.

Ok, I wasn't going to post again but this begs a response. That is the most erroneous statement I have ever read.
If gamers buy DLC? Companies will continue to make and distribute it. If gamers do not buy DLC? Then companies will stop making and distributing it. Thats all. It's called economics. No company can continue doing something that they don't realize a profit on for long.
How much money do you think BW made on Mass Effect? It only had one DLC (not counting the second one that was basicly worthless in most peoples opinion) They made tons of money. Thats why less than two years later Mass Effect 2 is coming out. Because they want to make tons more money. I don't blame them for that. As long as I continue to like what they create? I'll keep buying it.
Personaly, I have nothing against DLC, as long as it's good, and adds something to the game. And I will make up my own mind on a case by case basis to that effect.

Yeah, I'm stoked that there is a new dlc coming out, but I would rather it took place afterwards as well. I suppose by the time it comes out I may be into giving the game another go but I'm not real into getting content that requires using an earlier save or restarting the game.
Unless you can still use your save afterwards to go through this content. But it reads to me like it's meant to be done somewhere between after Lothering and the climax of the original game.
EDIT: Nvm...just read another topic made by a Bioware rep that says you can use your epilogue save to run through the content so that's good at least. A bit worrisome that he said it should take your average gamer an hour to run through it but on the other hand could just be they're being a bit more realisitic about the time it would take than they were with their estimate for Warden's Keep.
By the way, that other topic where the rep is answering questions should really be stickied. Just my opinion.

Battling Darkspawn for the Armor of the King? Mainly interesting for compangions which were at the battle (so no one i used at my first playthrough). Second Chance for dog??? Why would i want him, if i haven´t taken him already?
Hope the next DLC is a bit more interesting.

The Stone Golem was good, but it cost $15... If I didn't get it for free I don't think I would have been impressed.
Warden's Keep was too short, but it was fairly cheap.
This one is cheaper yet, and can't possibly be shorter than Warden's Keep, so it could have potential.

But lets say they make 20 DLC for 5-15$. There will be no new features, textures, creatures or anything in these.
You have no proof of that. Quit trying to pass opinion as fact.
i worked in the industry for a number of years..its not opinion. the type of DLC they have added was near effortless.
It is opinion. It might be effortless to make this kind of DLC for the devs, once all their tools are in place but that still doesnt mean that new things will not be added to the game via DLC.

24 hours at least?
Yes... If you look at the total time of the main game, it's less than a third of it. And being worthwhile it doesn't have to necessarily cost just 5$... That's my opinion of what's a good DLC content

I'm in the camp of people that believe DLC's offer less value for the money. If you add up the 3 DLC's out there:
Stone Prisoner - $15 = new partymember + 1hr adventure
WK - $7 = phat l00t + 1hr adventure
RtO - $5 = partymember you already have + phat l00t + 1hr adventure (1hr seems a safe bet...)
That adds up to $27 for 3hrs adventure, 1 new partymember + loot.
Typical expansions are $30 and arguably offer *significantly* more than 3hrs of adventure. (examples from the Bioware vault: BG:SC, BG2:ToB, IWD:HoD).
So basically with the 3 DLC adventures we are already at the price of an expansion but with significantly less content than an expansion.
If they continue producing small DLC packs I'll wait for them to bundle them all up and sell the bundle at a discount. I'd rather a true expansion.

There is a ton of things they can do for DLC. I would love to see a plain dungeon that would take 10-30 hours just to complete. Get the quest in Redcliff, find dungeon, dungeon crawl for X hours. Add in some NPC dialog and I am happy.
there you go... A good ideia in my opinion...

contrary to popular belief we firmly believe that our game is 100% playable, bugs aside. they don't matter, so rather than give news or anything on something the majority of our fanbase would like we're gonna show you people DLC thats going to cost money out of your pocket rather than what you'd benefit from!
thanks, devs
my take on the scenario, i may be wrong....
Agree...hope to be proven wrong..but at this point, not holding my breath.
