And to the people whining, seriously get a grip and grow up. You already have a complete game it’s not like DLC is missing content they didn’t put in the main game; they are small adventures for the price of a pint of beer.
No one is forcing you to buy them so if you don’t like it or don't agree with the principle then simply don't buy them, it’s not that hard a concept to get your heads around is it???
And please tell me how the DLC concept will affect expansions and patches in a constructive and informed way rather than drawing conclusions and pulling information out of thin air. By doing so you may actually earn yourselves some credibility

ok as simple as i can get= If you can split your boxed expansion in 15 little DLCs why the hell should you release a real expansion? you couldn't sell a expansion above a price tag of 30 $ but the 15 little dlc can easily cost more than 75$ (5$ each) and everyone is happy because that little 5$ are just two cups of coffee....it's just sad
It comes down to two words, cost effectiveness. I'd much rather get 15 little 5 dollar moduals than not get a retail boxed expansion that doesn't get green lighted due to cost of packaging/retail shelf space/cost of full fledge dev team to make said expansion.
The industry is changing, game development costs are skyrocketing. If this is the only way we're going to get additional content, I'll gladly support it over getting none at all.

I’m not saying your opinion is wrong or mine is right but
What evidence do you have to support your theory? I suggest you read up on Oblivion as that was possibly the first mainstream game with DLC, I won’t give you any more hints, it’s a challenge to you, to do something
constructive with your day

I'm a writer. I love Dragon Age's script. I would make sweet love to it. But, when you get down to it, the "there's no story, only loot drops" argument is ridiculous. We're talking about five to seven dollar expansions to a video game. That's like expecting an entire season DVD when an episode comes out. The main priority in a GAME is GAMEPLAY, and that means XP and loot drops for an RPG, primarily, unless it's an adventure game. Do any of you KNOW what it takes to get these DLCs out? Making a video game is not easy, and asking a team to pound out content month after month is no trivial task. That means they need to FOCUS on exactly what experience they want to give people. Honestly, I doubt you even know what you MEAN when you say that you want story. Stone and Warden's had the most amount of story they could have for the task at hand. Do you guys want a LIBRARY as a DLC? Because I can assure you that the tune would then be "for five dollars we only get a new LOCATION? EA hates puppies, and me personally!".
BioWare comes out and tells you the pricing is their idea, and yet, conspiracy theories about how EA holds families hostage run rampant on these forums.
Another thing: STOP CALLING PEOPLE DUMB JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BUY THE DLC. Did you get that? Stop being smug ****s and "cleverly" saying that people have low intelligence just because they - for whatever reason - support the DLCs. It is rude, demeaning, extremely uncalled for, and it says volumes about you more than anything else.
That being said, I will not be buying Return to Ostragar until I get a new job, and have finished applying to graduate programs.

@ leat its a more adult standpoint than the "5$ thats just two coffees"
I wouldn't buy extra content that way. And so far i can't remember a company that couldn't release a boxed add-on because of costs. as long as you can release games for 50$ there is no need to increase the cost of a expansion. A expansion is a lot cheaper to produce than the stand alone game (no new engine, aso).
They just try to get the most out of us.

My opinion: Nice to have more content, but I wish I could at least play the other DLCs I've bought (Warden's Keep map location missing on map, despite having talked to Levi Dryden and the Sulchers Pass quest appearing in my quest log).
Try deleting the folder from your DA user directory and redownloading/installing it when you open the game and login.

I don't like DLC where there is a static price (go for a pay what you think its worth model and i will probably start to buy stuff). Oh well i just can't understand when people want to pay more for less. But hey we are humans...

what do that &%$&/(&$§%& Developers thin ? That we all wait 6 months after release before we start playing to enjoy their DLC how they are intend to be played.
I have just entered the fortress in the "Final Battle" after 130h playtime, I am sure I will not start that again (somehow it is boring that last quest) to play that DLC !
SO MY QUESTION (sorry if already answered somewhere else in that too long thread)
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLAY THIS DLC after someone has finished the game ... as it still would make sense, as there are millions of Darkspawn left , aren't they ?
THANKS

Warden's Keep gave me new abilities and new equipment art.
Return to Ostagar will give me... reskinned weapon art from Warden's Keep and recycled armor from the main game?
...seriously?
The quality and length of the treaty storylines from the main game is what I expect from a good $5 DLC that only gives reskinned art.
Unfortunately, Warden's Keep and Stone Prisoner storylines were no where near the length or quality of just 1 of the treaty storylines.
If Return to Ostagar doesn't have an epic storyline attached to it, I will be very disappointed.

That go both ways. Stop calling people that don't like the DLC for retards, whiners and trolls. In the end whining is ok its the only way to say "hey we don't like this". Saying "We like DLC" is okey also.
Wow, that's so untrue. Being a troll is not the only way to say you don't like something.
I never said anything about everyone being against the DLC being a dick, please don't try to twist it that way.

then post the facts and let the readers draw their own conclusions. no need for your posturing and 18th century rhetorical style. i challenged your claim already. post the source(s) your guesses are supposedly based on.TheMadCat wrote...
Oh indeed everything I said is a guess, but a guess based upon facts nonetheless. Now if you'd like to hold an intellegent debate and challenge my claim feel free to start, if not then take your witty remarks and fine someone else to talk to.

But DA is build to have a great replay value. So when I'm done I'm gonna start a new playthrough, with a new origin, different partymembers and the 2 dlcs - so there will be new quests and it will be a fresh experience. I bough the pc version für 44.- € - with to DLCs it's not more expensive than the console pendants and the game is so huge and long, so I really don't feel ripped here.
Regarding items - I don't like the concept of buyable items. I didn't use the blooddragon armor, as it felt like cheating. DA is no MMO and DLC should focus on modules, characters and story. There can be loot in there, but advertizing should not focus on them. It's nice if its there - but please don't advertise it and try to make uber weapons for dlc. I'm already turned off from those items. Feels like buying MMO items on ebay.
And thanks Bioware for providing options like safepay - I 'd never support paypal or use a credit card.

If enough people are buying that stuff we will not see expansions in the future. The price of the normal game will grow to about 100$ and than we'll talk again.
As a grown up person you should know that you as a consumer dictate the price not the other way around. And i just don't want to pay 300$ for a RPG in the future (60 hours gameplay 5$ for 1 hour)

It is only explained when you could enter it the first time ...
To find the survivor play through Dragon Age: Origins until after the village of Lothering and Journey to Bann Loren's Lands along the Bannorn's northwest border.
AND LAST POSSIBILITY ?????????????
PLEASE DEVS make it possible that it is useable after the last battle also ...

Life. Games. DLC. Dragons. Knights. Armor.
Come on people! Build a game yourself and then show me how great you are in making the BEST game ever.
I'm sick of reading that stuff. 90% on this board is just bashing and telling people "Why this sucks..."
"My son! Go to bed! It is 3AM!" - "No mom. Its important. Someone is WRONG in the internet."
So now I'm off topic.
Anyway, I think a new DLC is better than NO DLC right? :-)

So don't buy any DLC and be done with it and cross your fingers and hope for a sequel or expansion. Coming across with an attitude that the people that don't have much issue with tossing a measly 5 dollars towards more content aren't "adult" is a pretty condescending way to try and support an arguement.
Breaking content down to dollars to hours played is pretty weak to begin with. I played for almost 80 hours my first play through and didn't nearly do everything there was to do in the core game to begin with. I think I got my 60 dollars worth and then some.
PC titles have been 40-50 dollars for a new copy for a good 10 years or so now. I honestly don't see that jumping 50 more dollars just based on OPTIONAL DLC that noone is forcing you to buy in the first place.

I appreciate constructive criticism but I do not understand all the whiners who allways complain about anything Bioware does concerning DA:O. Why don't you leave us alone and go play another game that suits your need? Ah, there is not another game like DA:O or another company like Bioware... I see...
I understand all the person who are waiting a patch, I am one of the fortunate who hasn't encountered a single problem (at least not game related... it was only difficult to run the editor on W7) but I do really simpatyzhe with you. But you should understand that in a big company like actual Bioware there are two separate teams that work on content and patches. So, one does not exclude the other (probably it's quite the opposite, they will continue to patch and polish the game untill DLCs are profitable!).
To all the other whiners... in the end it's very simple. You want to buy DA:O's DLC? Do you want to support that business model and/or the expansion of the original game? No? Ok, you have your points... but whining about the "small DLC" model it's like asking WotC stop making new expansion for Magic! Do not buy it but stop whining!
I will support new DLC if they add quest/story/loot. 5$ seems a fair price for one hour of entarteinment (hope in Europe it will cost a little less!). At the same time I would never pay to buy items like the infamous Horse Armour. I hope Bioware will continue to add quest, content and new areas.

Also, I just commented my opinion, there is really no need to mock those who write negative things about this new dlc, becouse forums are here for all feedback. Its quite likely I won't buy this one (if it turns out to be similiar to Warden's Keep) but I still have an opinion about it.
