That was the first thought I had when, I think it was Flemeth who mentioned that the horde had moved on, so my first thought was why are we not going to Ostragar to see if we can find any survivors? And more importantly to loot the Kings Armor! lol

Also this DLC was most likely already done as I think DA was basically finished as a game last spring so they had plenty of time to work on DLC content since then. Probably the reason it was not included with the release is because the advertising was already done and that DLC was not part of it. Just guessing but I would bet Bioware has a few more DLC's either ready to go or nearly ready with that much time on their hands after the main title was finished.

Warden's Keep gave my Rogue a pretty good Cheese Knife, the storage box I didn't need since very, very, very few drops are worth anything to me. Shale was "thebomb.com" and I just love Dog to death. Enchantment? Enchantment!!!

I thought the same thing. Surely going back to hunt for Duncan and the King's bodies and gear instead of leaving them to the Darkspawn would have been a logical thing to do?

Anyway, without any arguing over price I hope they make this DLC better than Warden's Keep. It takes me less than 20 minutes to go through the Keep, most of which is listening to the dialogue, the time drops significantly with subtitles, and it was disappointing in depth and quality for what I hoped would be a showcase for Dragon Age's DLC. Maybe Ostagar will be better.

The "survivor" is probably someone who tells you what needs to be done and either follows you or temporarily joins you as a fifth member. Hopefully it's a recognizable face like the Kennel Master or one of those warriors (Ash Warriors? I forget the names) with their dogs.

What I hope for most is some unique locations and not just a retread on what we've seen, that would further fuel the anti-DLC beliefs of many. Crossing the bridge, there was a huge battlefield below, where the king and Duncan fought. We should be able to go there, I think, and maybe we will because of this:

"An opportunity to reclaim the lost arms and armor of a king"

Yeah I stood on that bridge ducking arrows trying to shoot down below lol...I would love to go back there.

IMO these are glorified item sales.

$7 for wardens keep (AKA best sword in the game)
$5 for Cailans sword/armor.

Bioware. My goodwill is gone. I am going back to NWN.

You have played return to ostagar? Whats next weeks lotto numbers?

THIS made me giggle :D

As for the complainers..in one way I see their point..a 30 dollar expansion versus several small dlcs.   Maybe we can get both?   I mean..I would love to see this game expanded..specifically the danged borders we can't cross right now...example going to Orlais...

One thing I would like to see..is ability to have 5 group members, its so hard trying to decide who to pick to bring with you. lol

If I had my way I would bring all of them. :P   The more the merrier I say., plus can you imagine the banter with all of them along for the ride...omg that would be pretty funny methinks.

so this is how the game is going to be add more and more content for before you finish the game at 5-10 dollars a pop every month then? so if every owner bought ever DLC for 2 years that would be 120-240 in extra sale on top of the game. Well I can see this IP goes in the garbage. EA = money vampires. this series have now been ruined for me. Good buy dragon age. Until a Expack comes out i am not buying anything for his game. its bad enough thats its buggy as **** and there are no Console patchs to fix these issues.

The thought just occurred to me as I was reading your post......this is kind of like a new MMO release except that..so far we haven't had the first month free. :P

So paying for one dlc a month at 5 bucks a shot......is cheaper than your average mmo...at 15 bucks a month.

We'll see how frequent these dlcs are put out..if its once a month..hey cheap deal, and adding more content to a game I am already hooked on.

I also think that...these small dlcs are happening to keep us from putting the game down, and forgetting it for something else.......til the expansion comes along.

If thats the case then..thats smart marketting.    I've always hated to put my rpgs down once I finished the main campaign and the side quests.......if dlcs keep it alive then I will stick around for sure. :)

Except that in an MMO for 15 bucks you get a month of playing, with all kinds of people, while for 5 bucks a month, you get 30 minutes of fun and some loot! MMO's sound cheaper now..

I have to admit, a DLC a month is a little much, but id rather have some than none. Think of Left 4 Dead, it had it's first piece of DLC a year after release. While i wont have the money to keep up with Biowares steady release of DLC, id rather they did release it.

I love the DLC but I hope it will be longer, plus while I love getting all these new armors for my dwarf warrior, aren't mages and rogues a bit left out in the cold gearwise? I really loved Shale and I do hope to see similar DLC to that in the future that is to come

No, it's not much. The community mods don't exist right now and we have couple of months till first campaigns start showing up. Also, some of them won't allow you to use your old characters.

One DLC for 1-2 hours a months is perfectly fine with me.

Hmmm. . .I guess I look at it this way: the game, itself, cost about $60 and provided me a genuine 60 hours of game play.  That works out to an hour of game play per dollar.  If the DLC works out to be the same ratio, an hour per dollar spent, then I'd say it's a fair deal.  That said, I expect "Return to Ostagar" to provide five hours of game play, roughly.  If the DLC is shorter than that, I'd say it's overpriced and I won't be getting it.

I hope they announce an expansion soon and stop making DLC that lasts 20-30 minutes. I don't care about the money tbh, I just want quality content that lasts more than 2 hours.

Sadly I can bet that it won't last 5 hours +

Average playtime is always tough to pin down because everyone's mileage will vary (and developers player the game in a very different manner than a typical first-time player). I can do a speed run (skipping through conversations and cutscenes, using a buff party, controlling Dog, avoiding some combats, ignoring loot drops, not looking at the scenery, etc) in about 15-20 minutes. I suspect it would take a typical first-time player about an hour to complete.

From the other thread, 5 dollars for 1 hour of content. I would gladly pay 10 for 3hours.

Pirate it.

I will not buy any DLC, and I dont care if it is 500 freaking hours for $.05
You people know nothing of standing on principle, they are doing this beacause you people buy it, if the customers would stand up and say a big FU and not buy it, this would stop. But that's the way of things, people are stupid and generally like getting screwed over, and EA is just the company to do it.
EA just purchased one of those companies that make the mafia war type games for facebook and stuff, becaue you idiots are too stupid to realize you are being nickle and dimed for more money than you would normally pay for the same amount of content if it was bundled in an expansion. Enjoy.

Stupid? Or could it be that fewer people than you think dislike the idea of paying for optional (yes, read that again: optional) addons to a game? People will stand up to things they truly detest (like EA's obsession with Securom) and those companies will be forced to compromise for their own benefit (they are, after all, a business), but DLC is clearly not one of them.

So yeah, if you don't like DLC, don't buy it. Vote with your dollars. If enough people are truly as pissed off as you, EA and Bioware will certainly get the message. If not, they're still not stupid, they just don't think like you.

I like the look of this. Its a shame that there are so many who give negative responses. No one is forcing them to pay to download it so stop the moaning.

I will be looking to add it though once its released. Loved the other DLC from BioWare.

Oh do please enlighten me as to what a "real gamer" is..

And a 100+ hours? I don't think so. I would have said it was more like 80 hours even with all the dlc of which I have all of bar the new one.

Hmm I spent 117 hours +..and still didn't get all the content, as I discovered later when I played thru a second time. :)
