Hmmm, new DLC, excuse me whilst I thank Thor for answering my prayers! I'm really looking forward to it, the whole game I was wanting to go back to Ostagar. This also lets my cling to my insane hope that Duncan may yet live!
I've seen a few people mention the possibility of Duncan being alive, although from what I noticed in that cutscene, it pretty much looks like a darkspawn cut his head off.........if thats the case the only way he "might" be alive would be as a darkspawn.

EDIT:Except that in an MMO for 15 bucks you get a month of playing, with all kinds of people, while for 5 bucks a month, you get 30 minutes of fun and some loot! MMO's sound cheaper now..Feraele wrote...

so this is how the game is going to be add more and more content for before you finish the game at 5-10 dollars a pop every month then? so if every owner bought ever DLC for 2 years that would be 120-240 in extra sale on top of the game. Well I can see this IP goes in the garbage. EA = money vampires. this series have now been ruined for me. Good buy dragon age. Until a Expack comes out i am not buying anything for his game. its bad enough thats its buggy as **** and there are no Console patchs to fix these issues.
The thought just occurred to me as I was reading your post......this is kind of like a new MMO release except that..so far we haven't had the first month free.![]()
So paying for one dlc a month at 5 bucks a shot......is cheaper than your average mmo...at 15 bucks a month.
We'll see how frequent these dlcs are put out..if its once a month..hey cheap deal, and adding more content to a game I am already hooked on.
I also think that...these small dlcs are happening to keep us from putting the game down, and forgetting it for something else.......til the expansion comes along.
If thats the case then..thats smart marketting. I've always hated to put my rpgs down once I finished the main campaign and the side quests.......if dlcs keep it alive then I will stick around for sure.
You do realize that you can play Dragon Age completely free for as many months as you'd like, and the $5 just adds some more content for you to do on subsequent playthroughs.
EDIT: I think it's presumptuous to assume that the alpha was anywhere near Duncan in that cutscene. Considering how that scene was cut and compared to any other death scene in the game there's a very good possibility Duncan is still alive.

The negative responses really make me sad.
This dlc looks alot better than wardens keep, bioware works hard so we can play this and all you suckers can do is whine.
seriously
This is good news. Even if its small, I would like small bits of content to keep pouring out.
But Ostagar is especially exciting. I have listed 7 things (that I think) we should all want from this DLC.
Take a look:
“Ostagar: Revolutions” or “Sorry About the First Title”

Comparing to a MMO is apples and oranges.
If there was a multiplayer aspect to DOA(intentional) then perhaps some correlation could be made. But paying monthly to play one more quest chain....alone...is not the same as paying monthly to be able to run quests with friends...repeatedly...WITH THE SAME CHARACTER is completely different.
This board needs a way to ignore posters, so all you fragile people dont have to hear those of us unafraid to voice our negative opinions.

I don't get how so many people can complain about new DLC without even playing it. Are you that jaded? I'm looking forward to it. I'm on my third playthrough and I'm still hooked on this game.
Yes they are that jaded, they' ll be here calling you a WoW n00b in no time.
Personally I have my issues w/ the way inventory and WK was handled. But it was well worth $7 IMO,I just wish they'd patch it so I can finish the side quests and use WK as a real camp.
New DLC I'm buying day 1, it's not like anyone else is even making a party based RPG to compete

Since that unnamed $15 DLC could be 10 hour worth of content, add 3 companions and gave us 10 quests, 8 new abilities and 3 sets of equipment and weapons, I would say it changes your argument. Speculating isn't anywhere near actual fact. What should be fact: You and everyone that buys the game retail, should get access to TSP for free. The $15 should be for people who would buy it used, thus not providing developer/publisher with any money. People who bought the DD, got TWK for free. We don't get materialistic collector items, and I haven't exactly seen a 'official' way to buy those goodies outside the box. Box users has the choice to pay a pretty minor fee of $7 for some extra background story, some new abilities, some loot (wich is underestimated in my eyes) and near an hour (or more) of entertainment (unless you hate it that is). The Party Storage is nice, but not like it was woohoo, this was a lifesaver--although I use it to storage extra gear sets I don't actually use, but like the look of.
As I recall, there were no actual pricing set on TSP before some of the more recent days. It used to just show a * if I don't remember it too wrong, and I think partly $15 is also to make some extra money from those that don't buy the game from a retailer and thus don't bring money to them as the developers/publishers. It could intentionally be overpriced due to that fact alone for all I (and perhaps you) know. And even so, considering all you gain from having Shale around (wich was indeed planned to be in the game and was cut out as a free DLC), through what I see as hilarious comments and extra ways for things to play out--it is well worth the pricetag they gave it. Even though you should be able to look away from that considering as long as someone buy the game new, they should get it for free. I am just tired of people (not just you who uses TSP in their examples) trying to make arguments with $15 and DLC when it is in fact free. I don't know how many times I need to write free for people to realise it didn't cost them a dime. Does it seem that unreasonable that they used Shale as means to introduce their DLC system?
I think you can feel free to argue that you don't like the value of $7 and $5 (hard to really argue that $5 is a bad value currently though, when as far as I know, nobody has actually played through RTO yet). And I think it's ok that people compare the DLC's worth up to the game it is released for, and I see where they come from in doing so. But I at least, also try to value it up a bit towards the entertainment value and time I spend in most other games (and also visual platforms like movies) as well. I haven't spent as many hours with a single-player game since Final Fantasy VII. DA:O blew me away with how much there was to do, and still is to do. So in that sense, yes, the DLC does in a way fall short to some extent, but it is still worth the pricing. At least that is my opinion. And I shall respect that you don't share that view. But at least be fair with your comparisons using 'facts' and statements of fairness, with what you have at your hand. I reacted to your usage of $22 including TSP when the price is not really an issue at all, as it is free--granted you pay full price for the game.
If the DLC was 10 hours in duration, added 3 companions and gave us 10 quests, 8 new abilities and 3 sets of equipment and weapons, it would change my argument you're correct.
Because then I could at least feel that the amount of the content provided warranted the price tag of $15. However, that isn't what was released and tacked with a $15 price tag. I'm not making up numbers here or short changing the duration or quality of the current DLC in any way. I have actually been generous in my estimations of the DLC durations in order to avoid short changing them. I know that Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep didn't at all add 10 to 20 hours of gameplay. However, I'm willing to give that estimation just to prove my point without short changing the content.
The fact of the matter is that the current pricing model does indeed depreciate the current purchasing power of your currency when you compare the content received with the content you received from the retail box. If you believe that for some reason you should receive less content for more money then by all means you're entitled to. However, my feeling is of another nature and I feel we should be receiving a equivalent amount of content in respect to how much we spend on it.
Return to Ostagar may be a great DLC when they release it and for a $5 price tag it may be well worth it, but currently their pricing model has easily shown a lack of respect for the consumer. EA has taken to microtransactions like a mosquito to blood. They've already made other games where the mircotransactions are ridiculous and they're making millions of dollars on them and as long as people expect to pay more for less and continually do it, EA will keep charging the way they do.
If the next character DLC they release gives you a character and 2 quest for $15 then you've already spent $27 in DLC that (Depending on the RTO content) is more than 50% the cost of the retail box. Do you think that you're getting 50% of the content of the retail box in those 3 DLC? I am doubting RTO will hedge the difference that much. But that's speculation at this point and I want to make it clear that I'm not truly discussing what RTO is or will be at this time.
The idea is that you should be receiving an equivalent amount of content for an equivalent amount of currency. I don't see how that is an unreasonable expectation from a consumer.

its not worth it just like warden's keep isn't worth it oh look a bunch of ****ing loot for money with any meaning or story yaaaa. Develop real content bio-ware like The Stone Prisioner DLC not more ****ty loot dungeons.
Now wait a second. Warden's Keep is more than just a loot dungeon. Depending on how you played it and if your character is a mage, you can get additional blood magic spells, too. Not sure if there are skills that other character types can get as well, as I have only played through WK as a mage. Not sure how else this affects the story of your character either, but I know there were several additions to the Codex.
My only beef with WK at this point is that after you complete clearing it out, you can't go back inside the keep and everything you can access is on the outside - at least so far. There are still some chests in there that I wasn't able to access at the time, blast it! I want that loot!
As for the new DLC, Return to Ostagar, I am very glad to see it will be released soon. Same issue as with WK ... was not able to access some of the chests at the time, and that just irritates the bloody heck out of me! I can't stand leaving loot lying around. I think that you should be able to return to any area you've unlocked at any point in the game, and what this new DLC does is update the region to reflect the changes after the Darkspawn have attacked, which is just great. Exactly what I would expect to happen in a dynamic world.

I will not buy any DLC, and I dont care if it is 500 freaking hours for $.05
You people know nothing of standing on principle, they are doing this beacause you people buy it, if the customers would stand up and say a big FU and not buy it, this would stop. But that's the way of things, people are stupid and generally like getting screwed over, and EA is just the company to do it.
EA just purchased one of those companies that make the mafia war type games for facebook and stuff, becaue you idiots are too stupid to realize you are being nickle and dimed for more money than you would normally pay for the same amount of content if it was bundled in an expansion. Enjoy.
You talk of standing on principle and suggest stealing someone elses work?

DLC should be illegal. Fooling kids to pay for scraps. wtf
While not so eloquent your statement is actually pretty close to the truth. Overtime many consumer really won't know how much money they've spent on tidbits of content or really have any idea how much content they've received for their currency.
An example that I've read elsewhere was with a comparison of Sims 2 and Sims 3 both EA published games like DA:O.
Sims 2 was a complete game without microtransactions. Complete meaning it came with numerous towns, 3 times the options for furnishing items, and overall more content than Sims 3.
However, Sims 3 was very slimmed down with 1/3 the furnishing options, 1 starting town to play around with, and much less content overall. Yet, the box price was the same as Sims 2 and the Sims store sell furnishing sets from $5 to $20 or individually for lower, yet increasingly more expensive prices if you continue to buy object individually.
It was estimated if you bought everything in the Sims store "packaged" you would spend $195 and that was just to get the same amount of content as Sims 2.
The point is mircotransactions aren't doing consumers any favors. You're actually paying a lot more money overtime for content you could receive in reasonably price expansions or that could have came with the retail box to begin with.
It depends on your personal preference, I suppose, but I like making sure I'm getting the most value out of my money when I spend it on things like this.

QFT! PT Barnum would love these people... not quite old enough to remember real expansions, and games that were not trying to sell you additional content before you finished the actual "core" game.
