It's not as if you MUST buy the DLC to keep playing DA:O. If you value your five bucks but still want phat lute, I'm sure there will be a grudzillion free options on dragonagenexus a month from now.
Oh yes, eventually the cost of the DLC will amount to the cost of the entire game. How terribad. My lunches and coffee breaks amount to the cost of the entire game within the space of one week. Awful, just awful.

Why pay for DLC when you can download mods?......suckers
because very few mods come clsoe to the official content released byd evelopers. 5 bucks? LMAo, get some jobs people, i spend more on coffeee in 1-2 days.
Are you serious? a hell of a lot of mods surpass even the original content let alone some crappy backtracking addon that lets you loot some dead retard's armour..... im glad the king died i was so happy
name one mod that touches DA's content? Oblivion has been modded to hell, very little in the way of story based content. I trust bioware mroe then modders, i ahve played mods for many games, very little in the way of great story based Mods, more gameplay changes and graphics, etc....
Well oblivion's original story content was kinda weak to begin with. Good mods change the way a game plays making it replayable or fixing things developers just dont seem to. Alot explore new gamplay ideas, im playing The Witcher with the FCR mod that changes the way combat works in the game and fixed different issues and it's alot better than the original. DA has not been out long enougth for any major mods but its coming along.
DLC is not a bad idea its just usually crap stuff compared to free mods

What's the difference between frequent DLC vs. waiting for an expansion? In the end you're probably going to be paying the same amount of money.
not even close. not when you compare the content of a full expansion to the summed content of several DLC packs.

then i suggest quit gaming, DLC has been prevalent the last 1.5 years and will continue to be. 5 hrs for 5 hrs of DA sounds liek a good deal to me, better then oblivions Horse armour.
that is an option that is certainly on the table for me.
i enjoy PnP games well enough. as much as id like to keep on gaming i will not become a cow to be slowly milked to death by the changes in the industry. developers and publishers have been gradually becoming more and more faceless corperations whos only consideration is to suck every last dime nickel and penny out of gamers that they can. that is not why i game. i game because good developers make great games that they see as fun, imaginative, and priced in a way that they see as fair.
this era appears to be disappearing, and many of the old guard like myself will likely be disappearing with it, if that is the case. i have no interest of being on a slow drip I.V. for the gaming industry for the rest of my life.
Do not make moronic assumptions, i ahve been a PC gamer since DOS was the dominant OS, space quest, police Quest, kinds quest, Gold rush, etc... I do not mind DLC, it is optional, if i dont want it i dont buy it, you still got 100 + hpurs in DA vanilla. People are afraid of change.

It seems to me that you are making the assumption that there wont be more indepth content released as expansions, because they are releasing a lot of DLC over the next few years. Using every other Bioware fantasy rpg as a guide says otherwise. As does taking into account how much effort and time they put into creating this world and its histories.
bioware RPGs never had DLC before Mass Effect. and Mass Effect had no expansions.
(discounting the very different approach that was NWN, that is)

Expanion packs vary greatly just as DLC can vary greatly. You're making an assumption that it would be on the good side of expansions rather then the add a few hours and a few extra items side, which in reality is what the vast majority of expansions do.

You answered the question for me, there are no good story based mods, just combat, and gameplay tweaks. Big difference. I want story based role playing.

Seems there has been a new DLC announced coming out before christmas, Apparently around 400 points which is around $5 link is here: http://dragonage.bioware.com/addon/#
What do you think?
(Sorry if this has already been posted but i couldnt find a thread anywhere)
Oh cool, from the pictures it looks like you get to go pick up King Calin's armor.
I have always thought that King Cailins armor was the Chevalrion armor. It looks just like it except it is silver.

If it doesn't advance the plot, what's the point?
But isn't the "Return to Ostgar" a plot in it's own? I mean, there's another survivor with some story to tell. There's the story of who he was, how he survived the battle, escaped the Darkspawn, etc. Sure, it won't be as epic as the main storyline, but it's a story nonetheless.

Why are you stating the obvious chocie that every single person has regarding dlc? It's not a choice to be milked exclusively to those that do not like DLC. It's a product and a purchase choice just like any other. You like the idea enough? You buy it. you don't like the dlc or the idea behind dlc? You don't buy it.
As for the mistaken thought that any dlc at all should have been in the original game....the game is very very long as it is. And please don't speak for 'the old guard' speak for yourself.
I personally have no idea whether I'll buy this new dlc. I will wait until I see what they charged me in Canadian $ for the wardens keep and wait until I see what that is like as I haven't played it yet. If I don't feel satisified price wise or content wise I'll simply not buy the new dlc. If I like wardens keep for the cash then I'll conisder the new stuff.

Bunch of whiny ****s, stop posting in these forums about how butthurt you are that a company is making in depth content for you on a monthly basis rather than a yearly one. Maker's Breath, but you people are idiotic.
if you dont like seeing it, why dont you stop posting instead. we're all just as equally entitled to voice our opinion. no matter how much of a whiny [female dog] you might be about us voicing our opinions.

Exactly, so how do you even pretend to know what they will be like or how long? Your just believing what you want to, you have no way of knowing.

i think they're going to release only DLC and then a sequel. i might be wrong, but this is what i am expecting from it.
