Ah Tranzor you sexy thing you! I felt the same way! Threre I am dressed in Superior Robes which look like Circle robes and a big huge mage staff (design from DAO no less) that screams MAGE HERE!!!!  I not only cast major AoE spells earlier when I helped
Cullen with his little possessed templar problem (cut away convo while
fire balls were still falling made me giggle), but here I am robes and stick once more in his face and saying..."I'm a mage!" When he knows it already, but he stands there talking smack about mages as if I wasn't one.

Well, maybe Cullen's still shell-shocked from the potent combo of being abused at the Ferelden circle tower and being rejected by the female Mage warden.  Image IPB

At the very least, I wish there was some kind of consequence for using magic at the very least around templars... you know, they yell "Hey stop apostate!" or attack or at the very least maybe dance around the fires of the Tempest spell while howling at the moon... something.  I just love how they just stand around and ignore it instead.  Image IPB

And of course using scary magic around the public in general... they don't run, hide, call the authorities, or heck, even acknowledge your existence.  I swear with their disinterest, if the citizens had thought bubbles while you're flinging cones of cold and stonefists, they'd say "Huh... 4th apostate this week slaying falling sky ninjas".

That last sentence made me lol so damn hard!Image IPB

Enjoy playing it still, but since I've beaten it a half dozen times I no longer spend hours at a time on it. The flaws are becoming more apparent, as are some of the things I've done right like the dialogue wheel and party characters with a personal life. I've said before that I thought DA:O was a classic game with pacing problems, and after playing DA2, I find I am far less patient with the longer side-quests of DA:O, but I did appreciate all the little touches DA:O had like item descriptions and multiple distinctive locations.

Well, I've been playing it again tonight.... (Broke down, darn Patch 1.03 for taking so long) and I'm still discovering new details & even quests based on decisions made in this particular runthrough. Just finished Merrill's Act III quest line and its impact is still just as amazing as it was the first time. (Rivalry Merrill...awesome!) And Rivalry Anders even though I chose to defy Meredith in ActIII...which was immediately picked up on by Cullen. (Nice detail, that) Completely caught up in the tragedy again. What can I say? I adore angst!

Liked the mage, it was fun as long as I played it as a magical shooter. For the most part, it is a forgettable game in terms of not many things stand out in my memory about it. Not likd parts of DAO (except the reused environments, which are hard for my semi-photographic memory to forget).

I might come back to it, if I am desperate for something to play. But really I would rather play DAO if I am going to play a DA game. There are some things I really liked about DA2 and maybe with time, I will remember those and forget the stuff that was meh or I didn't like, and play again. If I do, it will be only as a mage.

My opinion hasn't changed much from the very beginning I played it.I still greatly enjoy this game.It may have its own faults that are worse than Origins but the immense improvement towards the gameplay make all those tiny problems hardly a problem. There are still the major problems to take care of...
