But...I've played through Origins 8 times(currently on my ninth, in which I am a timid Mage Elf).

Poll I created while back regarding that.

My opinion hasn't changed much. I still think the game is fun. Comparing it to Origins, I much prefer the combat (other than waves every battle and disintegrating people) in Dragon Age 2. Some of the conversations were handled very well in DA2 and I actually cared for my companions even more than Origins for whatever reason. If we were given more conversations with them, especially with the romantic interest, I think it would have been better. I remember conversations with Ash in Mass Effect that were extremely long - I wish that those would make a return.

I'm having a harder time replaying DA2 then I did Origins though, for two reasons mostly. Firstly, there just isn't as many options for starting a different character as you are always Hawke (this is not an issue to me necessarily but in a lot of parts I feel like I'm playing the same character again despite the tone I take). Secondly, the bugs and such I ran into while attempting to finish the game for the first few runs through soured my experience beyond full repair.

As it stands, I've completed a full run through on Origins probably 5 times at least, and I've only managed 2 on DA2 so far. I just can't seem to pick up the third without getting bored and stopping after a few minutes.

I still think it's a great game. It's not perfect, nothing is, but I got the same fun from DAO without all the Excel work from DAO.

I'm fond of the game and I've had two playthroughs, back to back. Waiting for the next patch before I play a third time.

I've never played WoW so I can't compare. I played DA:O at least four or five times through and enjoyed it as well.

DA2 stands on it's own merits.

I am glad you enjoyed it (not sarcasm).  Even on it's own merits...from BioWare it is lackluster. From a different studio, first time game...it would be a good game imho.

@neppakyo I have been playing DAO too! I would be playing ME and Witcher if hubby would quit playing long enough for me to.  Hmmmm maybe prying them from his cold dead hands...Image IPB

While I think The Witcher is demeaning towards women *coughsex cardscough* it's still a damn good game(Vizima had more life than Kirkwall. TW used the Aurora engine, for crying out loud!). And Geralt isn't bad to look at.Image IPB

But that poll screws up my answer as I base it off completion. I will usually make a new character, get a little less than halfway or so and then get bored so I stop playing. For example, in DA:O, I made a warden of each origin, but only Alaric Cousland made it past Ostagar. Of course, I had to beat Origins twice due to switching from the 360 to the PS3. Other than DA:O, I finished KotOR twice due to being a Star Wars fan. Granted, I never finish even one playthrough of most of the games that I play, so I guess Bioware is still winning in that regard.

My opinion hasn't really changed, it's still at best a mediocre game and a disappointment for me.

Still trying to finish my second playthrough... because it feels boring to play DA2 again, not like Origins. Portal 2 is another reason.

Same, disappointed...

However I'm not sure i count in this, since i never finished it. It is the first bioware game since Jade Empire i haven't finished.
I just lost interest in the end of Act II

In my opinion it lacks something that is hard to define... Passion? Depth? Spirit? Personality? None of these word and also all of them...

Maybe I will try another playthrough at some point, but I just can't get myself to start it up... and I hate both myself and bioware for it (okay hate is a strong word, but it truly saddens me)

If a game doesn't have enough meat to make me want to replay it several times, then it's not a very good game.

A good game presents me with such an interesting world and scenario that I want to see how different character deal with it, and what happens when they behave differently.  If the game doesn't show me the potential for those other playthroughs, then I'm not likely even to finish the first one.

I too do not think this is a "bad" game - just not up to Bioware standards. And that opinion has not changed since release. I tend to buy a new game that interests me and then literally play it until another game that interests me comes out.

However, the only thing right now keeping me playing DA2 is the mods available. I have changed almost every aspect of the game from armor (both for me and companions), weapon models, movement speeds, magic effects, etc. I have tweaked the game to the way I want to play rather than the way Bioware intended - and at best, it is "meh."

And I have found that DA2 is most playable now when I do it in short intense periods - play no more than an hour, at most, put it aside for a few days, download and install another mod, then play another hour and it is "OK." Compare that with my experience with Origins, where I would play every free moment I had.

And though no other RPG gives me the same quality of writing that normally characterises Bioware - I fully intend to put DA2 aside as new ones from other developers come out this summer. Sad to say, this is the first Bioware game that probably will not stay on my hard drive (still have NWN, Jade Empire, KOTOR and Origins right there on my desk-top).

I get bored very, very easily. As such, replaying the same game with very minor changes isn't really my thing. No Bioware game has really changed enough to warrant multiple playthrough for me, except for KotOR I suppose. Of course, as I said earlier, my love for KotOR might just be the Star Wars geek in me.

already forgot it. cant really look at that cave one more time. witcher 2 is coming next week and skyrim after that, dragon age 2 will not be executed in my machine for a long time.

Pretty much what he said.

I had 2 playthroughs and change.  It was fun, but ultimately disappointing and forgettable.

Same as it was while I was playing it (that it's great and the improvements over DA:O were well implemented).

Oh wait one thing changed, after getting all the gamerscore on offer I remembered just how much I hate "collect/find all the" achievements.

I would agree.  Minor changes alone are not sufficient.

But if I can play a copmpletely different character with different motivations and ideals, that's not a minor difference.

Being able to build and shape the companion characters also helps with this - playing DAO with Archer Leliana is somewhat different from playing it with Tank Leliana.

First Bioware game I've ever completed that I can't bring myself to re-play. I've replayed KOTOR a couple of times. I've replayed Jade Empire once. I've replayed Mass Effect twice. I've replayed Mass Effect 2 three times and I'm not minding the thought of doing a fourth run.

But DA2? I remember how none of my choices really mattered. I remember the annoying enemy waves, the horrible camera I have to constantly wrestle with, and the boring fetch and deliver quests. I remember how I can't remember a single memorable location in the game, such was the sense of deja vu it left in me. I remember all these things and I just can't bring myself to re-play it.

It's still a good game. I enjoyed the things it did right, but the things it did wrong were major and glaring enough that they ruined my lasting impression of the game.

A month on I still find DA2 a disappointing and forgettable game with no real replay value for me for reasons largely covered by posters above

I agree with you, even tho I love DAO, I came to like DA2, have 3 rogues and 4 mages!! I know the game is not perfect but mages are fun and can't stop making 1 after the other! hehehe, Now started a new rogue called EllaBella hehe she has the Arish-weapons.. ROFL Thank goodness for modders! I wish they had tools to add more, oh well.

The first BioWare game I had no interest in replaying was ME2.

DA2 is the first BioWare game I have no interest in finishing.

I tried being Loghain in DA2 recently and made my appearance and personality like his. I actually felt bad for being mean to Merrill and for what happened Anders.

Huh, I sort of did this too...weird.  My character ended up as what I imagine he looked like at about 25 (I can't get the aging skin tones/complexions to look right), and I of course played Aggressive Hawke.  It was kind of awesome.
