well im on my 3rd run (got the game a few weeks late) and im still hving fun...whilst i do acknowledge most of the issues people have with this game not one makes me regard this game as anything but great.

I went back to DAO to prep backstory for my latest run and the combat (2h warrior) felt so slow and clumsy...but to be fair 2h always felt slower than the other classes in DAO

So play a different class and have more fun(like a DW warrior, for instance).

I'm on about my 6th play through. The game has issues no question about it but it is still very strong in the areas of BioWare games that I care the most about. I've played it on the XBox but will buy a PC version of they do something to make content useable in the toolset.

It's tedious, repetetive, has limited replay value, it lacks the soul that Origins and previous BW games have. It simply feels like a chore. While other BioWare games are a blast to play through again, and again, and again.

Heh, that's how I describe Origins. That felt like a chore whenever I tried to replay it. It's the only BioWare game I was disappointed in after being really excited before it was released and it offered me next to nothing in replay value. Different strokes and all of that, eh?

OP: I like a lot of the changes they made in DA2 like: voiced PC, new skill trees, more distinct classes and I really like that variation in armors even if the tradeoff is not being able to dress my followers.

The reused areas is a problem but not one that bothers me all that much. It didn't really bother me in ME either.

So a month later I'm still enjoying the game.

I'm still enjoying the game, it's hard to go back to DAO since there are three lengthy areas I can't stand and really hurt the game for me.

I beat the game 4x already 3 warriors and 1 mage. Gonna beat it again with 1 mage and 1 rouge. I don't know why people say this game is bad but for me, I LOVE THIS GAME.

One thing in particular I liked about DA2 far better than DA1 was how expressive the character faces looked while speaking. In DA:O, one of the things that bothered me was how every single character looked like they were trying to move their faces as little as possible while speaking. Their lips barely moved, and that was pretty distracting in terms of when they were trying to say things that had more emotional impact than "I like cheese on my toast".

I kind of felt the same way after Origins (it took me some time to replay it after beating it the first time).  I tried to start another Origins game recently, but I gave up after doing some quests in Lothering and decided to just use the character save generator to make a DA2 import.  It's a good game, I just can't get into it for some reason as much as other BW games.  DA2 has thankfully renewed my interest/excitment in the DA verse.

After my customary 3 replays (the first is always to test the waters, no strategy, no planning, just to see where my gut reaction takes me; the second is to do a canon run, complete as many quests as I can and get the ending I want; and the third to test alternate decisions) I replayed DA:O yet again (I've lost count already). And there is no color. If I need to delete one game to save space in my hard drive, DAII will be the one to go, no contest. Actually, DAII will go before Mass Effect 2, and I didn't like it much, either.

There are things I do like in DAII, like that particular moral dilemma near the end of the game, one of its few real decision-making moments that might have consequences in later games. You know what I mean. I pondered over that decision for most of an hour, and loved every second of it. Some of the quests were engaging and very well written (All That Remains comes to mind, and Varric's personal quests were all brilliant). Some of the characters were really lovable and I'd really liketo see more of them in future games (namely, Varric and Aveline; the others are a bit too self-centered to my taste).

However, my opinion on DAII is still pretty much the same than it was after my first playthrough: it's a "meh" game at best (except for those few moments of brilliance). Being a Bioware game, however, I expected so much more than just "meh". I've played every BW game since Baldur's Gate II and, until now, only Mass Effect 2 and Sonic: the Dark Brotherhood had managed to leave me less than thoroughly flabbergasted. I hope this trend of me being disappointed with Bioware sequels won't continue in the future.

Actually, I'm glad Mass Effect 3 has been pushed back until next year. I hope this is a hint that some lessons have been learned, and that they will take their time to make the best game possible. Sadly, I have also learned some lessons myself. I won't preorder the next few BW games.

A couple of years ago, the BioWare logo alone was enough to sell me a game. This isn't true anymore.

Thiose so called 'lenghty areas' aren't even long. They are at least lobger than THAT CAVE but it's complaints like yours that created the super fast quests and recycled areas.

DAO is superior to Da2 in EVERY way except maybe armor graphiocs and character models and that's just maybe.

So people's short attention span is the reason for DA2's short ass quests? Sad.

I'm surprised that for me it truly has no replay value... and epic fail from Bioware IMO. I haven't even bothered to complete a 2nd play through, I completed DA:O 5 times, even ME2 I bothered to beat twice, DA2 can't even muster that.

I'm still pretty sore about it, considering how much I had hyped myself up after finishing DA:O for the first time. I think my exact thoughts were, "You know, we never got KotOR 3, but getting a good sequel to DA:O would more than make up for all that waiting." Then it actually released and... yeah.

I was in shock for a while, since I've been pretty supportive of BioWare for a long time now. Bought the merch, read the books, gifted their games, etc. With DA2, it was almost like they intentionally went out of their way to deliver less for more ASAP, which just came off as a huge backhand aimed specifically at fans of the prequel. It was pretty jarring, and I still get frustrated when I play DA:O and see how much potential DA2 had.

I'd like to think I'm still a BioWare fan. I'm gonna hope they take their time with DA3 and make it the biggest and best of the series, and that DA2 was their Charlie Sheen "winning" moment. xD

Two playthroughs. My first one (rogue) went back after finding out on the forums I didn't have to <spoiler> Merrill's entire <spoiler> which upset me greatly. I reloaded and couldn't make myself finish it again with a rogue and those ****ing waves of trash.

Second playthrough as a mage. Much more enjoyable in that waves became comedy hour with me putting AoEs down where they would magically appear so they never had a chance. Still soooo tedious in some places...Fed ex quests, *coughHybris&HighDragoncough* where bosses would have 8 waves spawns even on the normal and easy level (yes I know it's called casual, its still the easy level) after trying Nightmare and throwing my mouse across the room in utter frustration at 30 waves instead of 8 and a boss with over 900k in hit points. Yeah tedious beyond belief. So I switched to easy just to get those fights over with.

While mage, and treating the game like a magical FPS instead of an RPG helped, it didn't help enough. Like that one episode of MST3K....DEEP HURTING! Okay, only on nightmare. Otherwise it was a meh game which had moments of BioWare's epic-ness. They just weren't bright enough to shine through the dross.

The game was mostly...forgettable (hubby). I showed him a pic from it and he didn't even remember the moment in the game( I did, fyi).

No people don't want to grind through long quests again. The shorter quests wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the recycled areas.

I had no problems with the long quests. Found them to be fun.

@Morrian I wouldn't assume that. Some people don't, and some people do.

I would be one that does prefer longer quests (mixed in with shorter and medium lengthed ones) as long as it makes sense and tells a story and then even adds to the overall story( though that one isn't necessary).  I despise the short Fed ex fetch quest where I psychically know that torn knickers belong to a certain dwarven chap. Or that a bag of rotting remains belongs to a human bloke and they are his sister's with the oh so charming and witty response...you should keep better track of these.

I despise the bloody golden hovering arrows which programmed me with the pavlovian response of running from one golden bloody balloon to another. I wasn't interested in reading the codex why bloody bother? I just needed to get to one arrow or another.

The only difficulty I had in the quests was if I had an arrow and couldn't find it once I got to said place, because I didn't have the right companion with me to do said quest.  It was as if they had created "Quest for Dummies" and the yellow arrow was like the yellow of the cover of those blasted books.

What a buggering tedious snooze fest of the highest order.  Don't get me wrong, not all have to be long, and not all have to have a super story to them. A mix is just fine.  But everything about DA2 seemed made for people with ADD. It was all too damned short and kinetic. And as with so many things in DA2, there was little variety (quests, the ending, the choices, the city, etc).

I'm sad to say I didn't finish Dragon Age 2, I played to Act 3 then I was too bored with it. Waves upon waves of enemies and so on... From what I've read I can't say I missed much anyway though. Which is a shame because I truly LOVED Dragon Age Origins.

UGH,is it just me, or is it as if BioWare, saw the complaints on DAO (which I didn't even read too busy playing and writing fanfic) and went to the opposite extreme of every complaint?

Wow, please, please BioWare...fix what was broken in DAO, tweak what was slow or cumberson (the trees are a nice change btw); same for DA2, take that and put it together with what was great about both and voila! DA3! Pretty please? No more extremes!

Oh, and I promise to give you feed back from now on, and not leave you in the dark, even if I just want to play your game because I love it to pieces. I promise to save and come here and give  you feedback from now on.

Hey hoorayforicecream, I didn't have much to do and poked about your writy stuff. Nice reads. *thumbs up*

I think one big fault of DA 2 is also the "hidden" items. Of which there are so many! Crafting items aren't exactly the most obvious things and I spent most of my game with a finger on Tab until I discovered the tab toggle mod. Removing the need to gather individual ingredients for all those recipes is all good and well but replacing them with one-time things that are sometimes obscure, bleh. If you have to run around the place just to make sure you didn't miss a crafting ingredient then... that rather takes out a little fun, especially if you're gonna have to face a couple dozen waves of enemies just to get there.

No change in opinion. Bad characters. Bad story. Badly recycled environments (that were bad). Bad quests. Bad dialogue choices with bad heart options. Bad agenda pushing nonsense.

Bad game is bad.

I think the hardest thing for me about viewing this game is that I think it's a fun game that I enjoyed playing, but was still a total disappointment for me at the same time. If I had played it completely separate from the first game with no association whatsoever (basically, if it had been released as is without the first one ever having been made) I would have no problem focusing on the positive. But much of the positive is latent from things I liked in the first game, and it all pales in my mind to the overwhelming disappointment. And not just all the changes in combat, interface, AI, etc. Really, I just think it's a poorly formed story, and entirely unengaging due in no small part to the fact that the stories of Champion of Kirkwall and the Mages Rebellion have little connection, and what correlation between them is more coincidence than anything. Also, I think the lack of primary antagonist (or even arguably, any antagonist whatsoever) really hurt the story.

So I still feel the same: a good, fun game that doesn't live up to the potential and promise for the franchise that was given by the first game.

^this... seriously, it was not anywhere near da:o and i think it will have a realy hard time against other rpg-titles, which will be released this year. It was a rush-job for maximized profit... nothing else. you feel that while playing the game.

I'm not really disappointed, just indifferent to the actual game, mostly. I believe if one of the lead designers responsible for Origins comes out and says right after quitting and before Dragon Age 2, that BioWare is not the company that it used to be... then that is a reason for alertness.
