I'm curious to know who people romanced and moreso, why. Obviously I mean for whatever character you consider your 'main' character since I'm sure most of us have played through numerous times and tried all options.

For my 'main' character, Jake Shepard, a rough'n'tumble, earthborn war hero with a heart of gold but with a short temper and no patience for idiots (paragade), he fell in love with Liara. Aside from her being much cuter than Ashley, I just felt she was more interesting. Ashley just annoyed me. Xenophobic, small-minded, ****y and a bible-basher with daddy-issues. No thanks.

In ME2, since there was no option to keep up the relationship with Liara, my main Shepard did his secretary (Kelly... let's face it, who didn't? Those fish are important!), but otherwise remained faithful (in spirit and heart if not in body) to Liara.

Hopefully there's a happily ever after in ME3. Little asari Shepards running around the Shadow Broker's Lair

I feel in love with Ashley the first time I saw her. I was first afraid she was just a temporarly squadmate, 'cause my friend had never mentioned that you could have a human woman in your squad when I was wondering if I should buy ME1.

Anyway, romanced Ashley, stayed loyal to her in ME2, and gonna continue the romance in ME3

then i went with miranda because she's vastly more interesting than ashley.

Now, here's what i wrote in another thread.
My favorite character? A woman: honest and brave, cheeky and forward (in a positive meaning) with a good humor, independent and caring, a little stubborn but willing to rethink her attitudes. She never takes care if she pleases Shepard. But she cares for him and want's him to care for her. And if he does she can show her vulnerable side. A tough soldier
and beautiful woman, even in combat armor.
By far, she's not perfect, but who is? Her flaws make her even more credible.

Even though I'm an atheist, I prefer Ashley over Liara. Ashley isn't xenophobic or a zealous fundamentalist, even though the first impression may make you believe that. She's empathic to aliens and do not mind if you don't believe in a god.

The only thing I hate about her is her poems. Grr.

Just kidding. But not really. In all seriousness though, I was Miranda all the way until I played LotSB. After that however I became a huge Liara fan. I found Miranda to be a very satisfying character to romance. Sure she looks great, but I do enjoy the tried and tested cracking of the 'Cold Exterior' to get to the 'Warmer Emotional Goo' inside, thing.

Thanks to the superbness of LotSB, my 'Main' Shepard has become a somewhat hazy concept. I guess I would still consider Miranda to be my primary romance. I guess. But in terms of comparing Liara and Miranda and deciding which character I like more...well, I can't. Both are equally awesome. Liara is Blue though. That definitely works in her favor.

My main (femshep infiltrator) romanced Liara and stayed loyal (assuming Kelly doesn't really count) because that is the hottest scenario.

Don't really feel the need to post my reasons. Honestly, from your wording you seem pretty bigoted. Need an ego boost from Liara fans?

I love her personality! She sure is a amazing char, and i think the story just goes around their relationship so nicely. It started when i noticed it were "She" who were in love with shepard, and not "Shepard" going and trying to hit on her.

Wasn't a huge fan of Ash, so I went with Liara by default. Then I liked the direction they took her character in ME2 and LotSB, so I decided to stay with her.

I have a play through where I romanced all the available options (for a Male Shep for some reason I just don't like any of the Fem Shep options) I have "played the field".

As for my favorites? Liara and Miranda due to the complexities of their respective characters. Ash and Tali are next with Jack and Kelly coming in last place.

After reading the ME comics, I got the impression Liara is the "ideal" romance. She's the only one that puts in a lot of effort in finding Shepherd's body despite not knowing if (s)he's dead or alive. That's the kind of woman I personally want to be with.

My femShep, (my canon Shepard) romanced Liara in ME1 as Kaidan just didn't "do it" for her. She stayed loyal all the way through LotSB. I liked that her character grew in the two games (and DLC) and that she became a strong individual.

I've romanced a variety of characters, but the ones that actually did it for me are Ashley and Thane, for ManShep and FemShep respectively.

Liara, becouse (althrough everone have different opionion's on her) She atleast dident come ''Your working for cerberus now Shepard!. I wont work with you again!'' like ashley did in ME2 however, she just left shep to let him finish his Suicide Mission, but not abonding him.

my main Shepard does not have any romances. Honestly Liara kind of creeped me out in ME1 and 2. In ME2 I did not like anyone too much. My femshep though romanced Jacob (heavy risk...) just to hear him say that quote.

Miranda in my canon. I suppose I just like her look (well, from most angles) and her personality. Plus the idea of romancing a raven haired Australian woman reminds me of one of my favorite Sci Fi shows of all time, Farscape. John Crichton Shepard FTW.

I don't judge you for that. If a girl would say to me that "I want to feel your skin against mine" I would probably freeze where I stand.

I've romanced Liara in all my saves except the very first one, since I found her only at the very end of the game, I've romanced Kaidan in that one.

in ME2, it depends... I did Garrus (cheated on Liara) and Tali (first LI), I also stayed loyal to Kaidan and Liara at least once.
