Who'd you romance and why?

She really was "just a girl" in ME1 out in a strange galaxy that basically hated her, just trying to support her people. Then getting swept up in saving the galaxy under the leadership of Shepard? I think she put it best, but yeah, there's good reason she's one of the few who shows interest towards Shepard first.
Basically? She's just utterly adorable by the time ME2 rolls around.
Unfortunately I lost my Liara save, but she'd come in second for me, and will have to use whatever mechanism they use for new players to carry on that relationship (ME1 disk broke, don't feel like replacing it). I was hoping an unromanced Shepard could get something going in LoTSB. Sadly no.

No one, because there wasn't an option for my gay M!Shep.
It's pretty lame that they took out the gay dialogue options for Kaiden. You'd think that a hundred and fifty years into the future, we'd have gotten over our prejudices.

Why can't you folks just post who you romanced without bashing the other LIs?
I completely agree with you.
That's a little bit oversensitive don't you think? I mean, we're talking about fictional characters here and people have legitimate reasons for being turned off certain characters, which is therefore legitimate as a reason to state in this thread as to why they went with option A and not B.

Why ?
- favorite character (personality, looks, voice)
- favorite romance (meaningful, mature, passionate)

Except that the reasons you listed for disliking Ashley were not "legitimate" in the slightest.
It's hard to ignore that amount of bigotry and ignorance.
At least get off your high horse and take some time to know the character before you start making claims. If you don't want to, then just keep your opinions to yourself.
If you just said "I choose Liara because I don't like Ashley", that would've been more acceptable. You should only elaborate on a subject you know something about.

And also because even Tali thought the whole thing was a lost cause, which shows a great degree of emotional maturity on Shepard's part from pursuing a love based beyond an intitial, basic physical attraction. He fell in the love with the woman without ever needing to see her face, just by getting to know her and talk to her and fighting along side her.
The appeal of great devotion and overcoming boundaries will always be the greatest factor in a romance for me, which is why Jack and the incredible amount of trauma induced barriers she's put up make her romance an interesting one for me as well, and it's sweet at the end when you finally get to make a connection with her. And of course Liara, whose devotion literally surpasses death itself in her need to save you and bring you back.
Tali's romance, however, will still always rank the highest in my book. ME3 is looking great in many, many regards and one of the factors fueling my excitement the most is definitely the prospect of the final resolution for many of these relationships, as well as the friendships with the non-romanced squadmates as well.

In ME2 I wasn't expecting to even like Jack. But I felt myself enjoying my talks with her, more than the rest of the squad other than possibly Mordin. I found her oddly likeable, and at the same time funny. And her loyalty mission made me gain a ton of respect for her. After that, I just really wanted to help her. Later, I wanted to show her that I truly cared. Eventually I totally developed feelings for her.
Once you try to pursue her is when it gets really good. She suspects your intentions and pushes you away, but it's pretty clear from what she says that she's really just afraid that she has feelings for you too and might want this. It's then, when Shepard teases the hell out of her, that you see that side of him again that you don't see since Ashley. When he comes out of his shell a bit and shows a side of him that he doesn't share with anyone else.
I always take her along to the final boss, and he typically catches her fall in the cutscene when the huma-Reaper is destroyed. It's like a sort of poetic moment of "redemption" after he couldn't save Ashley on Virimire, a symbolic moving-on kind of moment.

My paragon Shep can't go a day without helping something out, and Jack was ideal for some little therapy talk.
Also, thisBabe Mause wrote...
For manShep it is Jack. I just love her. She is the only reason I ever created male Shepard. She is beautiful, she is interesting, and the more you talk to her the more you see that she has her reasons to push people away and you appreciate her trust even more because of that. She is like a little hedgehog, who is covered in needles, but is all cute and fluffy underneath.

Ashley cause I could romance her (ie the game allowed) and she WASN'T Liara (who I consider in ME1 to be too young- makes me feel like a pedo).

That was a freaking amazing story man makes me wonder what your other sheps are like if theres as interesting as the one you posted I would definitely love reading them.
On Topic:
My main Athrun Shepard Spacer/War Hero Paragon romanced Ashley in ME1 and after she gave me that smile post Eden Prime it was pretty much game over for anyone else. But after the big middle finger that was Horizon I was having second thoughts but that email she sent made me hold on because despite all thats happend deep down shes still the same Ash I've grown to love.

Whoa, dude, you have issues. These characters are NOT REAL. It doesn't matter what reason I have for not liking them, every reason anybody ever has at all ever in the entire universe is legitimate because the only thing that matters in this context is our personal reactions.
You need to take a step back from this and realise that this is just a game and not reality. You're taking it all WAY too seriously.

Just because she's 'barely an adult' and a virgin, doesn't mean she's a child. She has several degrees and a PHD if I'm not mistaken. And even if you're equating it to human standards, 'barely an adult' would be 18, not 11.
Anyway, that's kinda why she was the more attractive of the two. She's like the cute, bookish, co-ed fresh out of university (or college, ie. 21ish), who's never really experienced the world beyond her studies. And she chooses you to... err... 'learn' with
Whereas Ashley's all bitter, world-weary, cynical, racist, staid and petty. Just contrast the two in the confrontation event between what Ashley and Liara say and despite Ashley's greater experience, Liara is by far the more mature. Ash takes petty swipes at Liara and Liara just states some pretty obvious facts and asks for a resolution. Plus, I got this event after making it clear through dialogue that I was interested in Liara and not interested in Ashley. I treated Ashley like I did all the other crew members, just wanting to talk and get to know them whilst keeping it professional. Yet, she still comes after me like I somehow owe her more than that: needy to say the least.

I know full well it's just a game. That doesn't stop me from liking the characters and getting annoyed when someone speaks poorly of them; specially with arguments as stupid as yours.
You just proved how ignorant you are, with that post. You presume to judge others when you have nothing meaningful to say.

Umm, no, that's pretty much the definition of not being able to seperate fantasy from reality. You're taking offense from comments made about a fictional character. That's messed up.lolwut666 wrote...

You should read your above post about not taking things too literally. Your not only bigoted but ignorant as well.
I romanced ashley and stayed loyal to her in ME2,i liked her personality and beliefs.
I have no problems with other love interest though.

I'd like to think that no matter how far we go into the future, being straight would still be a legitimate excuse not to be in a gay relationship. You could make the case that Kaidan could have been made as gay or bi but then he wasn't written 150 years in the future.
