The Story - Well, I'll give it a 4. In hindsight the Framed Narrative was completely unncessary, it only mattered in two events, the rest of the game could have used the usual methods to tell it. The more personal story aspect was offed pretty quickly (ending of Act 1 and mid Act 2, there goes your family, /wave) to be a true personal one and the ending failed really hard thanks to the almost no impact of your decisions. Wasted potential.
Graphics - 3 - I don't give a flying damn about graphics, but the new art style is horrible. It feels meaningless and unnatural, like it's only an art style change for the sake of art style change, it didn't improve the game at all. Pretentious.
Combat - 2 - Jesus. Thanks to more skills, each character can be very unique, and the Physical Force implementations and the increased interactivity are welcomed changes.
However, the endless waves of auto-attacking fodder mooks and the few Lieutenant variaties are not, the encounter designs are horrible. Friendly Fire makes things more interesting, it should have been a toggle option since Nightmare feels like an afterthought. A very lazy and unimaginative afterthought.

Story: (2). It's not really the plot itself. It could have worked. And sometimes the dialogue lines have great quality. No, there is something like a lack of 'touch', feeling, that makes it all just bland filler. The first really big mistake is probably the frame narrative. To me it just stinks 'Usual Suspects' from 4 miles away, and make it really difficult to care about anything. It's not just the 'lie' angle, it's also the fact that 'it isn't happening', all is already past in any case, so irrelevant.
Then there is the fragmentation, and the fact that too little is made of the fall of Lothering and escape. This should have been made into an epic. To draw the player in and start a relation to Hawke. Instead it's just rushed over for this RETARDED tutorial, (which unfortunately soon shows itself to be just too representative for the game, despite that promises had been made that actual gameplay would be different).
But I also have this feeling that something have been lost underway. ...'Quality', cohesion,..
Finally, together with the 'surprise-me-wheel' it's not something for a RPG player.
Graphics: (3). The problems with DA2's graphics is not graphics.
No matter how many insist that models "are better", texture maps better resolution, etc,- the one thing that stands out is that DA2 is buttugly. Almost everything is ugly. Even the UI is horribly, depressingly ugly. Then we have these clashing, different cartoon styles. Flemeth and Fenris having one style, Elves another, Qunari another. All different. None unique. They all look like they have been copied in bad taste from somewhere. Stolen from some silly originals, which somebody for some reason admired enough to copy. Same with different regions. They are made in different styles. Then we have things like new armor models, which are ridiculous again ofc, thick, edgy plates and spikes. No logic, no realism, no culture, no taste. Just gimicks.
Combat: (4). Actually, the combat system is not bad at all, as gameplay. What brings it down is, on one side the ridiculous combat animations, and on the other combat 'talents' that just stretches things too far. I'm talking about like everyone having corresponding area effects, raining arrows, swords extending across the courtyard,... No, - I'm not buying it! Not in a RPG. But with sensible animations and more restrain on what we're supposed to believe, I could well buy into the combat system. It's not better than DA:O. I'd rate it worse than DA:O on the PC. But it's OK enough, even with waves, that I wouldn't have complained about it.
All, in all, I think DA2 only cares about surface. It's like there is no depth or foundation.

Story:
*Concept (8) - The story itself is very interesting, and I admire the attempt to tell a more realistic story where human mentality and opinions form the basis of the conflict instead of some ancient evil. In comparison, my score for DAO's story concept would be 7 (while exciting, traditional fun, it wasn't very original) while DAA's would be 7.1-7.2 (for a slightly more original concept - giving the darkspawn minds of their own was a nice way to spice it up)
*Execution (4.5) - the execution was definitely lacking. Lots of wasted opportunities and shortcuts (for example, why couldn't your choices result in different ways for the M-T war to begin? Like, pro-mage leading to Anders' terror act and pro-templar leading to Meredith murdering Elthina and calling the RoA, or vice-versa?), as well as underdeveloped antagonists.
Some companions also felt lacking, because you'd always just talk serious business with them instead of friendly chats like they have with each other. They weren't bad, but they felt underwhelming and were occasionally too whiny.
Also, the family aspect which was made out to be so important was underused (the family members were written out of the story unnecessarily, or at least too soon - Bethany or carver should've stayed important throughout the whole game, not just the first act. Also, I like the questline which results in Leandra's death, but it happened too soon and it should have been a consequence of previous choices, not a set event).
On the other hand, DAO's execution lands at a solid 8.5 for me (while some opportunities are overlooked, the execution overall was great, allowing you to get really invested and forgetting the plot's lack of originality) and DAA's at 7.5 (more missed opportunities/shortcuts but definitely kept me invested).
Graphics:
*Compared to DAO and DAA (6.5) - I won't pretend I care a whole lot for graphics (story and gameplay is more important in my book), but I'll say it's an improvement overall. The redesigns are hit or miss (Qunari look good, some elves, dwarves and equipment look good, the rest range from mediocre to - occasionally - terrible *cough* Orana *cough*), but I admire the attempt to give each race a more distinct look. The other graphics I don't really care about, though the reuse of areas and enemies constantly exploding is annoying.
*On its own (4) - It's not terrible, but it certainly could be a whole lot better. Not much else to say in that department.
Gameplay:
*Combat (7) - the sped-up movements and flashier animations make the combat more engaging, and I still think there's tactical elements - not as much as DAO's/DAA's, but it's still there. Cross-class combos was also a cool incentive which they should expand upon in future titles.
What could use improvement is the enemy AI (make each enemy more clever and give them more abilities but make less of them to make combat more challenging), and what should be removed is the wave spawning (except when it makes sense, like during The Unbidden Rescue).
Overall a slight improvement, but should introduce more tactical elements.
*Other (8) - the UI is good, as are the new talent trees. Also, I personally found the dialogue wheel to be an improvement over ME's (though paraphrases could use some work). This is also tied to another thing I think DA2 did well; allowing you to play your character like you want to (you can be consistent, as in not be a hypocrite in order to develop relationships and acquire bonuses with your companions, romance any character you want to, alter/develop your character as time passes etc.), which is only held back by the lack of meaningful choices.
Overall, DA2 had great potential but the execution messed it up. Still a good game, but it frustrates me that it could've been so much better if given more resources and more time to polish and think things through.

Story-2 - Party Banter 8 (the party banter was great)
Graphics - 5 (Not much of an improvement to me)
Combat - 6 Better pace, lost point due to the waves of enemies dropping from the sky.
