Yep, for some reason parents won't let their kids go to see rated R movies, but rated M games are perfectly fine .

ROFL!

Hadnt thought of the sex sceens in that manner but PC Gamer 100% correct!

The sex sceens are like laughably bad outtakes from puppet-sex in the film Team America, and are even less sensual.

Glad to see im not the only one bothered by this in a ADULT GAME!

I hate to point this out (I lie, I love it), but we are talking about an AMERICAN adult game. It seems that some american adults get horribly shocked to see stuft that most european kids see as rather commonplace.

Gothic 2, it's outdated graphics aside, had a far more "rewarding" sex-scene. But then the gothic games were german, and they didn't back down from the "sensitive" stuff.

I always find it amusing (and very, very sad) that a game never gets much criticism no matter how much blood and gore it shows, it is even OK with prepostrous "female armor", but should there be more to romance than pretty words and perhaps a kiss, the censure comes crashing down like the moon on Montana.

I agree with you there, there was a game that had the sex scenes cut in the American version but not in European (except for Germany I think) and that was Farenheit or as it was called in America, Indigo Prophecy.

Indeed. Well, I am still happy that BW took the big step and openly adressed same sex relationships. Now if they could only have allowed some of the characters to be less monogamous, I'd be delighted! ;)

Though to my jaw-dropping surprise, they actually had a same-sex romance even back in KotOR! I played a female character, and being a tad too straight for my own good (and usually hating Biowares romance plots) I dropped the romance with the guy like a hot potatoe. Little did I expect to find that a FEMALE character showed interest after that!

I suppose they are with games as with cartoons - "it should all be good, because games/cartoons are for little kiddies!"

They obviously never heard of hentai! Image IPB

So either there is a piece on Fox News blasting the game as smut aimed at children or PC gamer calls it puppet sex? I think the former rather than later is definitely the way to go.

There are people who buy games because of those sensationalized reports. I know it helped me buy Mass Effect.

It's not like the kind of parent put off by that is going to buy an M-Rated game for their little snowflake anyway, media frenzy or no.

If my post wasn't clear, I would support a mass Effect style sex scene rather than the DA:O ones. I'd also like to see EA send more angry letters wtfpwning Fox News when they bash video games  while ignoring what is shown on TV or movies. But I am biased.

Hahaha, my local Fox news had a segment on the other night about The Sims 3 encouraging same sex relationships... which made me laugh, because apparently they don't realize you can have same sex relations in The Sims 2 as well. Not to mention the fact unless THE PLAYER makes their character hit on the same gender, they aren't going to all go off and randomly pair up to make the next Sodom and Gamora on their own. xD

Living in the Bible Belt of America is pretty funny sometimes, lol, I still can't believe that was a news story.

You know, the only thing that surprises me is that it took this long before Sims 3 got the gaybash on it... The moment I realised that ALL characters in the game were bisexual I just knew that some religious or moral fundamentalist over the seas would cry the christian version of "jihad" against it. I suppose it would be "Deus vult" or some such.

You don't understand fundamentalist christian logic - having a choice is bad, because if you have a choice you can use your god-given free will to chose WRONG! :P

I managed to play through ME twice without even seeing a hint of romance. Lovely! So I don't know how the sex-scene there looks.

Game makers are smart enough not to challenge the moralist powers that be in the states. It would undoubtedly turn the entire right wing against them, and as the right wing normally are the guys that support big business, it would be making VERY bad enemies in power.

yeah glad my computer is in my room with privacy. I'd be embarassed to show those scenes to my brother. Although I'd probably feel that way even if the scenes were erotic in some way.

It's a no win situation though. I always thought the fade to black was kind of cheesy too. I think they should have had the removal of clothing, and stopped after that.

That works!

Or they could have removal of clothes and then a character blow out candle like in the final Morrigan sex sceen.

But this strip to bra and panties (expecially when bra and panties were not there for normal cloths in Morrigan (bra) place) is just laughable!

And I dont care if the ****** crowd does call me names like they been doing, I find the option for same sex stuff being rubbed in our faces alot more questionable then a pair of breasts are!

Huh? How exactly is it "rubbed in your face"? In my playthrough with a male character I didn't see the slightest whif of homosexuality, neither in the party nor outside it.

Guess you dont read cause im not the only one saying this on these very forums!

When you take a influence hit from a male party member for kissing a female party member, thats rubbing your face in it!

When you have to shoot down advances from generic NPCs all because you were POLITE (oh gasp, the horror, how dare you be polite to anyone you dont intent to bed, spare me!) to them, thats rubbing your face in it!

DA:O goes to far with the ****** stuff. Have the option if you must but have it like Jade Empire where you have to actually intend on hitting on the person to bring up those options. Being polite is NOT a sexual advance in any "level headed" reality!

Thats how its rubbed in your face!

As I said, Im not only one saying this either if you read the forums, others have commented on how awkward the whole thing made us "normal/Straight" folks feel. And again (before you get all preachy and what not) no one saying remove the stuff (though honestly thats a legit option IMO), just put it deeper in the conversation where you have to INTENTIONALLY activate that stuff for it to appear in game.

I've played through the game more than once and you really are making a big deal out of very little. Zevran hits on you if you have a high enough affection with him.  So what? He hits on everyone.

Rubbed in our faces? That's an interesting choice of words. It's almost as much fun as the more commonly offered "same sex stuff being stuffed down our throats". Don't worry though, I'm sure it doesn't mean anything...

I found most of the sex scenes kind of embarassing, but I got over it after one second.

Rubbed in our faces? What, like the way straight romances/relationships are shoved in gay peoples' faces in virtually every single other form of mainstream entertainment ever? Y'don't say :D

Yeah I don't know, it looks like the animation for these scenes are forced. It'll never compare to the cgi love scene of Mass Effect, I think that's even shorter but it was sooooo well done. I was hoping for the same here, but heck I'll take it. Next game though it'd be nice if they polished the animation or just made cgi versions...

Its like this, there's something to be said about how people are okay with scenes of decapitations, murder and mayhem where beings are set on fire and or put to generally messy and grisly ends, but any hint of full frontage nudity and suddenly a game can be labelled inappropriate or porn. I don't blame the people who have to make a game where sex and sexuality are essentially taboo subjects which they have to manoeuvre around against.

I gotta say, as I guy who loves his porn...I see nothing whatsoever wrong with just a fade to black. Seeing badly animated pseudo-sex does absolutely nothing to increase my immersion in the game at all. Honestly, for a game that takes itself rather seriously, they really didn't think this one through.

Yes, I would have preferred a fade to black to the unintentional comedy as well. But an ME-type scene would have been tops.

This is incorrect, there are two gay relationship options. Leliana and Zevran.

R

Rubbed in your face? They don't even flirt with you until you make the first move. You don't even have to let them into your party, if it bothers you that much.

Uhm Zhev totally comes on to You without any hint of wanting romance with him whatsoever so no, You're wrong there... He says he fancies You and hopes You don't take offense *so that's when You can REPLY an interest or disinterest* actually...
And it's not like You get warned from it beforehand... ;)
Not that I get offended by it, what offends me is that they change Morrigans figure when she puts that fugleh bra on!!!!!!
She's a neat sexy thing then that scene and her breasts swell to the sides like sad waterballoons and sags down aswell... I thought bra's were supposed to help SUPPORT not drag it down and to the sides?

Bah! Humbug! No boots for Zhevran! And no hormones for the rest of us! :P
