Disclamer, this idea is probably very dumb. But hey...I always hated how developers release a new game and then stop making DLC for the older games. I think mass effect 1 should get another DLC expansion even if BIOWARE doesnt go with this idea. Bioware id pay 15 dollars for another ME1 expansion just so you know

Mass effect 1 is a better game then Bioware gives it credit for. That's why a content expansion like this should be made. Their should be an expansion released that works on ME1 engine before mass effect 3 comes out.

Since
you guys are delaying Mass effect 3, you guys should do something
unprecidented and release a content expansion for Mass effect 1 and have the same expansion unlock a free mission for mass effect 2. (The mission for mass effect 2 is free but shouldn't work unless you have the ME1  data)
The expansion should allow Shepard through a terminal on
Normandy 1 to relive the mission that you select at the beginning of the
game. In other words, the sole survivor, ruthless, or war hero mission.
You guys should release a 15 dollar expansion for mass effect 1 that
allows the option for Shepard to play through those missions somehow.
Also those missions should affect the Reapers in mass effect 3.

How would it be done? You should have to import your mass effect 2
save, and your mass effect 1 end game save back into mass effect 1  with the expansion installed having the expanison installed will enable a new menu option on the mass effect 1 title screen called "play before mission" so basically you need a mass effect 2 save from any point and a mass effect 1 complete save imported in to play the pre-mission. The expansion to ME-1 is able to read
mass effect 2 saves.

Then your play through the prequel mission using the mass effect 1
engine and controls. After the mission is finished your save game can be
reinported into Mass effect 2. Doing so unlocks a mission in mass
effect 2. If you loaded a mass effect 2 completed save and a mass effect 1 completed save, you get the option in mass effect 3 to play a completely different mission then in mass effect 2....and the mass effect 2 mission is never avaliable.

However if you play the mass effect 2 free mission this should also unlock additional bonus content in mass effect 3.

Playstation Owners a should allowed to buy the bonus mission as a stand
alone game for 15 dollars, Xbox and PC users buy it only as an expansion
to ME1.

So ignore the idea if you want, unless you like it...otherwise...discuss if you would still play a mass effect 1 expansion...or post your own ME1 expansion ideas. I wish Bioware would launch KTOR1 and 2 expansions still as well...that would kick ass.

ID pay 10 dollars for a new KOTOR expansion

Good idea for a mission, but very roundabout and complex way of doing it compared to just adding it as an extra mission in ME2, with the ME2 engine.

I've also thought it would be nice with a Mass Effect "Origins" kind of prequel game, where you play your Shepard from his beginnings depending on chosen background and military history. As earthborn you could carve out your place among gang politics and battling the autorities in the slums somewhere, and as sole survivor you'd obviously go through the Akuze events, etc, basically up until ME1 starts.
