The Dragon Age Wiki had a countdown timer on RTO's release, but its gone now and instead there is a statement next to the DLC title updating that its release is January 2010. If true, bummer.

Anyone can edit the Wiki.....BioWare was trying to release RtO before X-mas on the 360 and PC while the PS3 is doomed to wait untill January. Now the x-mas release seems extremely unlikely but XBL does update daily all through the hollidays and released DLC and demos yesterday......still waiting for todays update though....so even if they failed at that there are 7 daily XBL updates that could see it released. BioWare has not said a word in two weeks now so nobody knows for sure. Either way don't trust the Wikia....I caould make it say that RtO released January 30......9872 lol.

If we dont see the DLC "this holiday season" then it will be disappointing. However Bioware's epic fail is in the fact that this thread has had no heads up for 2 weeks.

Agreed, even if it were a post just to state "We've run into some issues caused by the new stuff that has been added, sorry for the delay. We will let you know asap when it is going to be released." that would be enough I think.

I have a question... At which point in the story is the 'epilogue' save? Is it before the Landsmeet, or before going to fight the darkspawn at Denerim's gates, or is it after slaying the Archdemon or something else?
At the moment it is after the landsmeet but before the final showdown since a certain party member you can optionally earn at the landsmeet is still at the party camp but all the characters who split after the end-game are still there too.

I guess that makes sense. Although it would be incredibly ironic to take that optional party member back to Ostagar in your party, don't you think?

There are at least 2 way to see this thing:
1) 5$ for something what last around 20min if you rush it without reading anything and after you have played and learned fastest route.
2) 5$ more from something where these fellows have spend way over 5 year from they life 40 hour per week.
Sure, we all can wait and sooner or later game will be cheaper, we will most likely get gold package at one point. But it is bit same like special enchanted versions from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy movie set. I bought them all paying around 35€ for each (4DVD, each have at least 6 hour of "making out" documents and 30-50min extra movie contest. Now when I check normal 2 DVD version can be found in 5-10€ shops around here.
Now 1€ is 1,4276$ so you can easily check that ~35€ = 49,966$ per LOTR extended version. I do not feel bad from it, I do not whine from it. Yes, I do realize that paying now around 7,138$ - 14,276$ I can buy 2 DVD version from these same movies / each. As I surely would be able to buy, let's say after 5 year, this DLA + all extra stuff from platinum version of this game.
Everyone just have to choose, do you fellows want to support game, are you happy with it, do you want to buy it now because it is good and do it feel great enough so you buy add on. I also want to remind you all that Bioware did NOT do Warden's Keep! It was 3:rd party. I were happy for Stone Prisoner (something Bioware DID make) and I will check out Return to Ostagar also.
Complaining how these are expensive is pretty funny. M$ is already making Windows 8, it will be expensive and most likely they put it in sale after 3 year from Windows 7. Then I will complain because it was great to use Windows XP for many many years (and Vista suck big time) but I am also realist and understand that will not change anything (so I will buy Windows 9 eventually skipping Windows 8)
These same people who are demanding voice acting, same release for multiple platforms and better graphic are also complaining when they do not get 20-30 hour of playing in price of 5$ managing to forget that 10+ year ago you get way more to that same money in any shop.

Hmm, well i am not demanding "same release for multiple platforms and better graphic" and certainly nobody is demanding "20-30 hour of playing" for $5 for this DLC. On a further note 10 years ago wages were not as high as they are now. Maybe read on from page 17 onwards. I am pretty sure that what people are annoyed about most right now is Bioware's communication failure and thus the feeling of having had false hopes for a Christmas evening spent playing Return to Ostagar after a day with the family.
Ahh, but how our hopes have been dashed...what is that festive greeting that we are all supposed to use at this time of year? Bah Humbug!

You can not define that point. If you decide against the ritual, Morrigan will not be present in the camp after the end. That would mean that it is after the ritual offer. But between that night and the fight in Denerim your party rests in redcliffe and not in the base camp.
I would say that this is a little flaw in story design.

No it is not a flaw. It is after the landsmeet and before the ritual.....that is hell of a lot longer than one night because you have to travel from denerim to Redcliffe which takes days at least.....the save is probably on the road from Denerim to Redcliffe since the area you spawn in after the game is called "On the Road".....where you can choose to set up camp and take detours to the DLC locations and choke the ocasional chicken ROFL.

-> If you decide against the ritual, Morrigan is not present in the camp after the end.
-> If you do the ritual she is there
So it must be after the night.
But after the night there is no possibility to visit the camp

???? She is in my game even when I didn't do the ritual as I recall.
But yes there is a chance...plenty of chances since you travel from Redcliffe to Denerim....that is a multiple day trip....not something done in a day. Dagna tells you it takes 7 days to travel from Orzammar to the Circle Tower which are hell of a lot closer than Denerim and Redcliffe.
You as the player have no control during that travel but it is implied that your party needs to sleep and rest every now and then.....they are NOT robots.

Actually it takes "2 weeks and 4 days minimum to", to get from Orzamar to the Circle and back. So that means 9 days journey one-way. i checked this yesterday.

So that only reinforces the point I was trying to make. I thought the 18 days was a round trip but either way my point stands.

And reinforces the point made the other day that it is unlikely Duncan is the survivor from the battle at Ostagar since between the battle at Ostagar and the final battle is months of traveling recruiting allies. If he was alive he would have made it to the final battle to face the archdemon.

Well, let's be fair here. If they would let us know that "we will release new adon for game, there will be no voice acting, it will be released only for PC, we will use Planescape:Torment engine but it will have around 2500 pages of written text and no combat, it will include your own citadel and have many mini games (some have small amount of fights) because it will be after this game and you will be ruling a small kingdom. Release will happen start of 2011 and we expect atleat 60 hour of play. During this time we will NOT release anything else and after this DAO-Kingdom adon we consider making something for X-Box 360 in 2013 and PS3 in 2015" how many would REALLY complain and how many would REALLY buy these products then anymore? Even if price would be only like 35$
Communication failure.. well, I am deeply dissapointed from EA. Untill today they have NOT answered my questions in DA:O (which I have send for them multiple times) and I have a feeling they will NEVER answer me. But from Bioware I can say that when I was lacking a map in Baldur's Gate adon they kindly send me one in Finland after I send a mail for them. That was WAY back ago. No one forced them to. I honestly do not remember or know ANY other game company who do that kind of stuff. Heck, these fellows have earned my respect by they actions. They also made same (sending two [2] map) when there were none in NWN2 Chaotic Evil edition. (Yeah, I know different company)
True, NWN1 was deep bow toward Diablo (single player game.. err, it were terrible) but it gave me long experience in PW's and I am still head DM in one.
Because you ask I will try to read all these posts in here.. but it will take some time. I am just saying that I personally fear that time when games like Planescape:Torment are released are gone. Now we get complain (in most previews) because main char in Dragon Age Origins did not had voice dialogue and from fact that graphic look bit old (from game what have been under development for 5+ year). I would happily change all voice acting in game for double lenght but sad truth is that so many player now days are happy for some 8-10 hour game expecting graphic instead of deepness of storyline.
It is true that you should NEVER say a day or release untill you are ready to release product and it have been packed and send for shops. If we look for Blizzard they have mastered that idea "it will be released when it is ready" and we all are happy. "Ok, Diablo III will be out.. when it is ready".
