Honestly i think its all a big marketing scam, they release vauge info on DLC people will want to make sure they have points for go get the points then closeing to christmas they have all these promotions where stuff costs less points but RTO isnt release so people who bought points hopeing for RTO buy other things with those points because most gamers are gunna get more points for the holidays anyways

So.......as ineloquent as your post is, you have
a point. We all have the points bought, and might get more points for the
holidays and then feel we HAVE TO buy the less than impressive add on
just to use the points. G-o-o-d  p-o-i-n-t!!!

Or..........gaming companies need to hire better marketing people so they don't
come off like big %$#@ teases.

Or..........plan and execute the DLC(s) in advance of the release of the game.

Or..........make the original game long enough so we are not waiting around for
a promised DLC.

Companies who make RPGs really need to understand that the low re-playability
of their games makes DLC more desirable, so having them actually ready
before the release of a game means they can gauge the community better and
release them after they feel enough people are in their second play through.
Many here are on their third and fourth.

Seriously, most gamers fly through games. I for one love story line, and
take my sweet ass time, and even I am bored now. I can imagine how
the power gamers feel.

Perhaps the government or better business bureau SHOULD view a gaming
company’s marketing strategy as false advertising if deemed appropriate. I mean,
how many times has McDonalds announced a new item, but then you go to one of
their units and they say, well we were held up? Ummm.....NEVER.

Like I always say; traditional customer service does not apply to gaming, and
the gaming companies benefit that the powers that be view gaming as frivolous
entertainment.

Well written and i agree whole heartedly.
I was one of the first few to come here to whine about their marketing strategy and they used of "We added achievements and thus there was a certification delay" as an excuse

And all that hype for nothing. Lack of planning? or just out here to experiment how much sheet gamers will take from the gaem companies. Apparantly they are laughing cause we can take A LOT of sheet. and we even defend them delaying it saying oh it's worth the wait.

Putting aside the discussion on how long it takes to travel around Ferelden, can we assume this mystical 'epilogue save' is an autosave that the game made along the way or will we have to pick where we have to start it?

And don't forget, Count-JN, it's going to be less than $5 when it's released (you didn't get that far in the thread if you only read the first 16 pages).

Woohoo! Where's the update Bioware?

The epilogue save is created when you complete the game. You have the stats you've got at the end but it takes place before you battle the Archdemon. Also, you can't visit any of the vanilla areas. It basically puts you in the wood, with a walking distance to camp. Simple as that! :)

Hey guys I have great news. "Return to Lothering" will be out "Next holiday season!" You get second chance to recruit lelianna and sten!

Following which we'll have "Return to Ozammar" and "Return to Redcliff" which will give you the chance to finish uncompleted quests!

Just so we can make sure of your complete satisfaction over a DLC with just enough awesome, we will make sure to seek your feedback and add achievements last minute (which you really want) so that we will safely miss the deadline which we set ourselves.

Don;t forget the hyping up we will do before the release, we also assure you that we will NOT i repeat we will NOT say anything about teh DLC close to and around the release date.

The camp isn't one single location though....camp is always near wherever you are.....it is implied that when you travel around you take the tents and stuff with you and set them up wherever you are going.

Guys vote on which will happen first. This thread reaching 150 pages or Bioware ceasing to pretend the DLC doesn't exist.

You mean you actually were thinking it MIGHT come out on time? If it was going to come out on time you wouldn't see Bioware people hiding and pretending nothing is supposed to happen now would you?

I wonder if we're looking at the same situation we had with BDtS for ME PC. A grand announcement that it will be available at launch, followed by weeks of dead silence around the projected release date, followed by months of "It's right around the corner! Just one more problem to fix! Real soon now!"

I admit the wait for BDtS was tedious, but we PC owners had a bit more right to feel jipped on that one because we had supposedly paid for something we expected to be available at launch.

Here I think the relentless pursuit for achievements and bolstering one's gamer score has shafted even those of us who see no benefit of such achievements on the PC.

Paging Rob Bartel to the thread please.

Huh? I was around waiting for that but the PC version of ME didn't even exists when BDtS was released. BDtS was released on march 10 and the PC version of ME was released on May 27 with BDtS packed in for free. I am fairly sure there were no PC announcements.

They did say it will be released "This Holiday Season" and not "The Holiday Season"

So yes it is "The holiday Season" but it will really be out "This Holiday Season"

Replace "This Holiday Season" with "When we feel like it" and it makes sense.

It's an elaborate joke. Bioware took one look at Bethesda, realised the never patch any of their games and yet people fall over to buy their games and decided to see how much false promises we can take, and once again prove that business is business unless it's the game business.

How many movies that were supposed to come out "This Holiday Season" and didn't? Imagine if Alvin and the Chipmunks didn't come out cause they took the fan's feedback that there should be more scenes of Theodore and missed the release window due to the movie getting help back by the censorship board.

And yes I watched Alvin and the chipmunks the squeakquel with my DLC money.

14 days since Rob Bartel last posted in this thread so I hope that means they are trying for a new years release at the latest

would not suggest holding your breath while waiting , they might change the release to "soon" as defined by Blizzard

soon = sometime between next month and the end of the world

I didn't know that Bioware record was so bad with DLC's. Never bought mass effect that's why. When they said 2 years of DLC for DA i actually believed. Now I'm jaded. Seems like they are all talk and talk only.

Pinnacle Station wasn't even made by BioWare.

Lol ^^ Well actually... I wouldn't mind a 'Return to Highever/Return to your Dalish Clan" thingy... Especially as an extension of the game after the fight with the archdemon. I mean: as a noble: your brother becomes arl (right?), so why not check out to see how he's doing? And why can a Dalish elf never meet up with his/her clan after the origin story? Of course they are hard to find but jeez... you grew up with them, so I am quite sure you know how to track... It would be lovely if you could visit them for at least once.

Never mind, back to the topic: I'm totally fond of more lore and character development... so I'm quite interested in this DLC actually. If only we could find out more about the contents... XD

Pinnacle Station wasn't even made by BioWare.

True, which really makes the situation worse.  Mass Effect was supposed to have all manner and sort of DLC when it was announced.  Instead we only got BDtS and Pinnacle Station (which aside from being horrible was only released a few months ago and was made by another company).  Now while I remain optimistic, I'll believe "two years" of any kind of meaningful DLC when I see it.  And don't be surprised when you see an "announcement of an announcement" for DLC which doesn't get released when the actual announcement originally says it is.  Honestly, I haven't pre-ordered Mass Effect 2 for this reason and won't until it gets much closer to the release date.
