My first BioWare console game was KOTOR. I loved that game and I'm not even a big Star Wars fan either. Then came Jade Empire which had another excellent story line but was extremely short and had restrictive combat (90% melee). Mass Effect was next up and I remember reading in March about how this game would be supported with a lot of DLC. It was also stated you could play after the main storyline ended. They also claimed you could stop people in mid-conversations and control every movement of your party members in combat. All three of those claims were stripped from the game at launch. BDTS DLC was pretty good. PS was simply sad and pathetic IMO. Mass Effect also restricted combat once again, (99% range attacks.) DA:O is their best effort since KOTOR IMO. Still they have a problem with making false claims. The way they have handled this DLC RTO is just doing the same old, same old. This makes me question what has now been said about Mass Effect/2. BioWare needs to say what they mean and mean what they say. And clarify when there is a question.

Someone posted about Fallout/3's DLC claiming 4 out od 5 was short. This is simply is not the case, BS, PL, MZ, were all pretty long. TP was easily longer than 30 minutes even if you rushed through it. OA was the shortest but it was at least 45 minutes (rushed) long and you got great gear from it. BioWare really needs to take a page from Bethesda's DLC book because MOST of Oblivion's and Fallout/3's DLC had good length and was pretty decent IMO. Of Course some of Oblivion's DLC was not meant to be long just provide things like the wizard's tower but KOTN, SI, MR all had a lot of playing time.

I think maybe Fernando and Rob and others from Bioware are on Christmas vacation, at least until dec. 28th or maybe untill Jan 4th 2010? Bioware is based in Canada, so they might have other vacation time around Christmas Holidays than the US does.

Normally, Bioware says it'll be out when it's done. I don't know whey they didn't do to this with the RtO DLC? Anyway, Rob posted a while back saying that Bioware has taken our statements and feedback and decided to improve the dlc as well as lowering the price. Unfortunately, this means that the dlc has been delayes a bit.

And technically, Christmas isn't over untill the 6th of January - or New Year's Eve. And on that note, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to all :)

I guess the reason I am whinning so much is because I never played ME and didn't know about their track record with false promises. Looks like most have gotten so used to being disappointed they are actually starting to defend delays and lack of communication.

There has to be a name for that behavior. Battered wife syndroem or something>?

Some of you people are worse that the Bungie.net guys. . .
And that's saying a lot.
First you want a price drop.
So what do they do, they give it to you.
Why? Because a small fraction of the community, who would have payed the 5 bucks for the DLC anyways, was ****ing, I mean really? You pay 20 bucks for the MS card, your out that 20 bucks. Now a 80-100 point difference, really your going to **** about that? What does 80-100 points buy you at the end of the day, some clothing?
So they drop the price, well your STILL not satisfied, you want more content in the DLC. So what do they do?
They give you it to you. More items, achievements, etc.
Now you expect that doing all that work shouldn't be a problem, and that everything should come out on time. That MS and Sony are just gonna go back, and speed though content that had to be redone because the fan base is a bunch of whinny complaining dip-****s who are ungrateful for any concessions this fine company has made.
It's new content people, 5 bucks, get it or don't.
It boggles the mind to see just how many ****y kids there are in the world of RPG's, you do realize that your partly to blame for the delay for the content.

BioWare, my advice. Stop taking so much feed back form your community. Some is good, what they want, whats broke, what would be good for DLC to come, but dont seemingly change what your doing because you think the fan base will be unhappy, There people ****ing, are the same people that are going to buy the content anyways, but they just want more for free.

What you don't see is the people excited just to be able to get the content, than find out its been postponed because, seemingly the community that watches these forums are asking for more.

Loved the game, and keep making games you guys wanna play, not the fans, if its good it will sell, if its bad than you made a bad game. But if you give into the fan's want, the games will start to turn out bad.

No No your thinking of Blizzard, maybe Bioware has changed names to ... I don't know maybe Blizzware, Biolizzard, or something like that. Some kind of Image IPBOfficial Update Image IPBwould have been and still would be nice.  Just my 2 cents after a month of reading this post

Ahh, a latecomer I see. No one has mentioned price in a very long time on this thread. No matter how many
people post trying to act like that's the issue, it's not. The issue that most people are posting about is the lack of any form of official communication in two weeks. Not even so much as a "Sorry guys, you're out of luck. Won't be out till next year." As for being partly to blame, I fail to see how we are responsible for anything seeing as how none of us are developers, none of us made the decision to add more stuff in last minute, and none of us failed to update a thread that's aptly titled "Questions about Return to Ostagar". A title that's so amusingly accurate it's downright hilarious. That's all we have is questions, with the main one being why no official update before they all left for vacation telling us that the dlc wouldn't be released till next year. If that's whining and moaning, then so be it.

Edit: *sigh* I hate it when my sentences get broken up by forum formatting. <_<

Its delayed because of the PS3 version of the DLC, Bioware stated this in this thread in the first couple of pages. The 360 and PC versions are complete and were thinking about releasing the content once the PS3 version passed approval so it looks like PC and 360 gamers have to suffer because of the delaystation.

That keeps telling you the DLC is out this holiday season?

Actually originally PS3 was going to be early January, PC was on track for Christmas, and XBOX was somewhere in between. So the PS3 approval wasnt going to hold back releases on the other platforms so we can rule this out. The problem has to do with something else.

Also, for those of you saying chill out they are on holidays, why would they plan to release the DLC during the holidays if they were not going to be able to deliver?

You know, there seems to be an aweful lot of noise over a lousy hour of additional hour of game play. Everyone is getting worked up over what, in the end, will be a drop in the bucket. People are acting like RtO is the equivalent to D2 LoD.

Although I agree, somewhat, that it is disappointing to not have any DLC I am still hopefull for a holiday season release. Personally I think everyone should have just a little patience, hell just about every game this year nad next has been pushed back from its original release date.

Besides waiting a bit for a better product sounds just fine to me.

yeah me too. they changed the direction of PC games. ever since PC devs started developing for consoles, PC games started to get sucky. bad ports, sissified gameplay, delays, etc.

Swooping is bad. . .

Err anyways.

The devs have lives. I guess people dont get that. . . Not saying you, but its more than apparent, that some cant grasp that concept.

I brought the price issue up, because at one point and time it was an issue, it did not delay the game, or it might have had a hand in it, remember at the end of the day Sony and MS have the final words on such things, and I'm sure wanting to cut the price did not go over well with them, and that very well may be part of the delay, Sony and MS talking there dear sweet time.

I, however was more so talking about the irrelevance, and evolution of this thread, and how it just blows my mind. Maybe this is the community at its worst, hell maybe people promised the DLC for Christmas, and where unable to keep it.

I don't know.

It just seems the price got dropped to people ****ed about content and Achievements. Nothing but a few little stat changing dudads were put in, from the sounds of it, all well and nice, but was ****ing about it really worth getting it delayed?

And Achievements, WTF? Do people really need them to enjoy a game? And I have seen this to often, people refusing to buy DLC because it doesn't have Achievements, Hell I work with a guy, who wont buy the Assassins Creed II DLC unless it has Achievements.

And now I see the thread to the point of people yelling about the delays? Maybe this is just a bit of speculation on my part, but when you add something that wasn't originally intended, its going to cause problems, and it will take more time to fix said problems.

I in now way meant to come off as an ****, like I said reading over many of the posts, because I myself wanted to know why its the 26th and there was no DLC.

And I get people getting pissed about no news, but maybe like Bungie with Reach, they were put on a gag order, just because the news could ether make fans want the DLC changed, as what looks to have happened here, OR they just dont wanna deal with it.

I am surprised that the BioWare guys, even talked to the community about the DLC, past the plugged advertisement.

I agree with this, sure we would all like a update every now and then but it will get here regardless and I think it will be hella fun just like the rest of the game no matter the length, cheevos or not, I mean Wardens Keep was short but it's always my first stop when I get to the map well after I make a short trip to denrim to get that codex belt hehe.

Happy Holidays all.

As the Grey Wardens stood silently watching from the shadows, looking over the remains of Ostagar, they thought about the up coming battle with the darkspawn horde. An uneasiness crept into the back of their minds, will this be a nightmare of things to come, will they find any survivors of that terrible battle fought here and can they reclaim glory for their order.

Yah, well, until we get some solid info, that's the way it's gonna be. Natural order of things and all that.

I was more disappointed in Bioware letting the white noise continue in gusto instead of taking five minutes to update us with something. I realise that there is little else to do in the meantime.
