hopefully they're adding two or three more hours to the DLC to make it worthwhile

See what I mean?  The longer we are made to wait, the higher the expectations...

Ok, now Idon't usually post on forum but what the heck I have an oppinion on the issue of building peoples expectations... Ok now... creators of Dragon Age... Origins please please do not give us a release date if you cant keep your word. To some of us our word still means something ya know... also consider this... your not a public service... by this i mean your not the police or the nhs or my local council... but if any of these services said they were going to do something and didnt, they would get a complaint... now clearly you aint the same... but folks like us have spent our hard earned/saved money on your game... which we love, yes we really do... I have been playing rpg's for years and years and D.A.O is the best i have played yet... so please please keep to your word and if you aint ironed out the glitches dont give us a date...

The holiday season isn't quite over, though, so there's still a chance, however slim.

Although, like the rest of you, I am beginning feel that that chance is slipping away at an alarming rate.

I believe this is either my first or second post .. I am not sure. I have enjoyed Dragon Age but now after my third attempt at completing it with different Character's , The hype and anticipation of new added content , especially having to check for it every few days with no information on it's release has made me to decide to move on. I do really hope that it will fulfill those who wait for it. I am an older gamer .. I will turn 44 early next year .. Not that it is a patience issue ..? But the fact that the software company does not update the release date info ..? To me it is just not being responsible to the gaming community .. I have again re-subbed to LOTRO and AION .. ( wife was twisting my wrist's a bit .. hehe ) Ok enough chatter.. I hope that once it is released I will hear that it is worth the investment.. " Ok now what do I do with my 1400+ points)

Happy holidays to all .. =)

Um... ok... Little Paw... I don't know where you have been, but Christmas to new years has been the "Holiday season" since they existed as holiday seasons.

-Government officials usually get christmas to just after new years off
- Christams day, boxing day and new years day are all Stat holidays... if you have a job and you think they are not, let them know. I'm sure they wouldn't mind paying you normal wage if you work those days.
- people have always said, "Happy holidays" and " have a merry christmas and a happy new year.
-As a retail manager I get extra days off during the, "holiday season" that you think doesn't exist... that's during Christmas to new years.

dictionary.com says this about holiday season

holiday season

noun

a time when many people take holidays
Wiki says this

The Christmas season,[1][2] the holiday season,[note 1] or simply the holidays is an annual festive period that surrounds the Christmas holiday and other holidays. It is sometimes synonymous with the winter season, and is usually said to occur between late November and early January....

Bioware is not late on this until Jan 2... just because you are a brat, does not make them late... try living real life as you wait...

Omegadk1:
Brat? You had to take it there? Who's the brat?
Keep apologizing for companies that don't come through...kind of why the economy is where it is at right now isn't it?
Just
because we like to game does not mean we should be misled,
miscommunicated to and taken advantage of. They have a track record of
mis-stating when DLCs will come out. ME1 had it on the ebox for
PC gamers and said it was ready at launch.
And if you want to use the "not ready" argument, well then get it
right, like most of us at work have to do when we do something. If I was managing people at this company, there wou7ld be some serious coaching and counseling going on.
I run a business...and as I keep saying, this is a consumer issue, not whining because I want to play it. I have plenty to do, and I can read this forum and make a post in all of 10 minutes.
January 2nd you say?
Fine, I will buy a hat I can eat if it is out by then, by I still maintain that sayinf the holiday season is until Jan. 2nd is being an apologist.
How much holiday season are we all feeling when Monday hits and everyone is back at work.
Government officials on vacation? UM WHAT????
That's .00000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the population. Maybe less.

I don't know, this is reminding me an awful lot of how the Mass Effect DLC played out, lots of promises and ideas followed by lots of silence from the devs and lots of bickering and assumptions from the fanbase. I'd love to see this game get a steady flow of good content so hopefully whatever happened with the Mass Effect team, hopefully this team will not follow in the same footsteps.

Perhaps BioWare should sell the Dragon Age franchise to Bethesda Game Studios. It seems that they have no issue in getting DLCs completed, approved, uploaded, and available for purchase. Fallout 3 had 5, count 'em, 5 DLCs in their player's hands without unmet deadlines, disgruntled players, and sub-standard content. If Ostagar is indeed something a noob can play through in an hour, it is hardly worth the time, money and effort. I have seen some promising user created mods that appear to offer more than BioWare's retail DLC!

I truly hope that the folks at BioWare realize that this is bad business. If you can't deliver what you claim, then don't claim it. I have been in upper management with my company for 11 years. In my experience, there are a thousand excuses why a task can't be completed, but there are only two reasons why a task can't be completed: lack effort, or lack of knowledge. I read on of the moderators whine about how their delays were a result of "last minute" changes to the product. I work under deadlines every day. My boss changes things up on me from time to time, and I still have to meet the deadline, or I have to have unpleasant conversations with angry Vice Presidents as to why I am incompetent. If I have extra demands put on me, I work late, I work all night, I do what it takes to get the job done. Perhaps the folks at BioWare lack the sense of accountability and responsibility to both their company and their customers to "go the extra mile." Given the current state of the economy, companies are scratching to stay afloat. I guess BioWare's margins are simply doing so well that they don't need to worry about pesky customers and those hard earned dollars that they spend. Perhaps they have forgotten that they work in an industry that is a non-essential, luxury business.

I had to explain to my 12 year old son yesterday (Christmas) morning that the "Helion Shield" from Zelda that I purchased for him to complete his Legend Of Zelda collection will not likely be here until next week. He didn't seem to understand that some lazy moron in Florida "didn't get around to shipping it" in the 2 day time frame promised. Kids don't seem to consider the promise of something coming as something of value. Sure he was excited to hear that it was coming, but without product in hand, it means nothing. I have to say that, sadly, I know exactly how he feels.

This is becoming a joke, either deliver on your promises, or don't make promises at all. By not delivering this product on time, you will have accomplished one of two things with your players: either they will stop caring about your DLC, or they will have much higher expectations, longer game play, new NPCs, new item sets, new side quests, new party members, etc. My bet is your aren't going to live up to your customer's expectations. Just a hunch, though. Get your act together, BioWare, or sell. You finally have a successful game since God knows when, and you are blowing it.

Thank God you have LucasArts breathing down your necks over your SW: KOTOR MMORPG coming soon. I fear that "Emperor Lucas" will be far less forgiving than we are.

Broken:
Now there we go, a man after my own heart.
We are looking at this from a business point of view, not as whining gamers.
There ARE mature adults here with plenty of money to spend that would spend it if companies provided great service.
By the time ME2 comes out why would I buy another DA:O DLC unless it was substantial and on time?
The
point here is a marketing/announcement issue on Bioware's part...of
course their profit spreadsheet will tell the real story no matter what
any of us say...but with an open forum and free speech at least we can
"whine" with some good points about proper business practice, and
perhaps what isn't said on one of their conference calls can be said
here, and someone there says, "Hey, I bet we could have sold more DLCs
for $X.XX each if they both came out before ME2 and were user ready
even before we launched the game". I would have bought both, not sure
about any of you. Let's admit Warden's Keep was genius, and pretty much
the same idea...short as hell, but storage, and people bought it on
their first playthrough.
There are not 1,000 great new games, so
this industry has the luxury of being a lot more lax when it comes to
this kind of stuff (stuff=customer service)...if a restaurant pisses me
off, I can eat elsewhere...I will fully admit I love Bioware's product,
and probably always will, but I have cash, and a short attention span
for spending it on DLCs that are short, and late.
If it is out
before ME2 I will buy it, if not, then I can just hope the ME2 DLCs are
on time, or then just rinse and repeat with the next game that comes
out.

Bahahaha! You wouldn't say that if you ever played Star Wars Galaxies.
Or saw how The Force Unleashed basically takes Lucas' story and urinates on it from a great height in order to bolster it's insipid Gary Stu of a main character.

I'm not even going to beat the decaying horse about the whys for the delays, but seriously people, what do you expect them to say: "hey guys! we said it wouldn't be out for christmas, and it's not.. it should be out around the time we said it would be two weeks ago." Do you really need your hands held so much? Do you think your constant complaining is pushing them to do something? All it's showing is that you're hung-up on it and ready to follow the carrot. Do you really think Bio is concerned you'll miss out on a cheap dlc because you'll be too busy buying another one of their titles soon?

As the few intelligent people who've posted here have said, Bio delayed the release to accommodate player requests, and especially seeing as it's a thankless duty for the most part judging by this thread, that's pretty sweet of them. And seeing as accommodating they've been, I'll wager they'll post an update (wait for it...).. when there's something to update.

I'd throw some insult at most of you whiners if it weren't for the fact that I'm the bigger jackass for reading/posting in this thread along with ya. If you have issues with Bio: stop feeding their website activity and don't buy their games.

You don't get it, WE WANT TO BUY THEIR GAMES!!!
My customers don't complain because they dislike my company; they complain because they DO like it and want us to be better when we let them down.
Get it?

This DLC has become a PR disaster for Bioware.

Release it for the PC if it's ready. If the console certification process is holding it up for those platforms then they have to wait for it longer. Who cares if a bunch of consoletards **** about it. That's what they deserve for playing consoles anyway.

Oh dear, all the short attention span "I WANT IT NOW!!!" brigade have finished unwrapping, dissing, and breaking their over-priced, hard earned but all the same, unappreciated presents. Let the poor Bioware peeps finish off their left over turkey before your start for christ's sake.

Quite frankly, bollocks.

It's still the holidays until after New Year.

Yes, it would have been nice for someone at BioWare to give us an update, but bloody Hellfire, they are allowed time off too you know.

Now, once more for emphasis: bollocks.
