Yeah well ... thing is just they made a big do about their DLCs and how DA will be regularly supported by DLCs for over one year.
As of now we do not even have ONE reasonable DLC that wasn't available from the beginning or even included in some deluxe edition. I mean I delayed playing for quite some time (meaning not not playing, but playing slowly, but even so the end draws near) to NOT finish the game before some DLCs come out, but if it continues in this vein I will just finish the game and not care about the DLCs anymore and I planned on buying them all.
Yeah, yeah, yeah I could replay the game just so I can ALSO play 2 hours of DLC or what, but frankly I have more going on in my life than wasting my time for that. And yes, you can all flame me to death and say you don't care, but Bioware should care anyway because its supposedly their brand spanking new, oh so great buisness modell and it is a buisness modell which is about to fall flat on its face, because I'm sure that a significant amount of DA customers just won't care anymore if it continues in this trend ... maybe not now, but with the next DLC or the next.
P.S. Maybe it would be more clever to do it like Fallout 3 and create DLCs that play AFTER the main game and not DURING the main game, because those will be interessting even for those who have finished the game once or twice ...
I'm not understanding your reasoning here. The plan was for one to two years of DLC. If you're not going to replay the game, how was this plan going to benefit you anyway?
As well, the Warden's Keep was the first DLC for the game. The only reason it was available on launch day was because of the delay in the PC launch. The game's not even two months old, and there's another DLC on the way. There has been a minor delay due to technical issues (and yes, it's only a minor delay). I just don't see the problem here.
The problem is complex and I can see how you might not see it. First off I just want to say so far I think I can say we have all loved the game and would like it to continue.
zui5765’s point is this:
1- Replaying the entire game for some hour long DLC is just not a realistic option to keep us engaged with the game after we have played through.
2- We would be more likely to buy ($$) DLC after we have played through the game if it allowed us to continue the game in some way.
3- We would be more likely to by the DLC if it had more content. $5 for an hour of play, some new armor, and some trinket’s is not more content. Frankly DLC’s with little content make us feel like were being nickel and dimed. We would honestly rather pay $35 and wait 6 months for 15-30 hours of well put together game.
I know I know..your argument of “If you're not going to replay the game, how was this plan going to benefit you anyway?” works here as well..So what is the problem?
The problem is that we WANT to replay the game, we want to keep having fun, we want to continue the game..we really really do! We just want a reason to do so and an hour long DLC is not compelling enough to make anyone play through an 80+ hour game.
The problem is that DLC should be small trinket’s that are added to the game. DLC should be cool items that are now available if one pays some money. Heck if you all sold the small trinkets that some people got when they bought the game for 50 cents each or even a dollar each you would make money hand over fist. “Sure I’ll spend a buck for the Helm of the deep or the wicked oath!’
The problem is that we love this game you made and we would love to keep spending money supporting the work you and your team mates are doing but for some reason the powers to be have decided put out DLC’s with little content instead of expansions, in the hopes of getting just a bit more money from us. But what they don’t get is we would gladly pay if said content had some worth to us besides a new set of armor that looks a bit too familiar and an hour distraction.
Not that this will find its way to anyone who really cares but just for your information…That’s the problem
