LOL! So let me understand your point:  You think we, the gamers, should feel lucky that BW or EA do not charge a monthly fee for what, DLC?  This isn't an MMO.  Nor does this game have an extended warranty plan that we pay per month.

The only way a subscription fee would work is if release dates were met with absolute certainty.  As I'm sure you are aware, the industry itself sees devs making the DLC release date about 50% of the time.  Take heed in the fact that I said "about" because the certification process for each is something out of the hands of BW and EA.  As such, how could they expect to charge people a monthly fee for something they have no control over?

No, this would not work for DLC nor should it be considered because only the foolish would buy-in to something like that since the fine print on such a contract would be laden with loop-holes.

It would, wouldn't it? Unfortunately, no one has taken a minute out of their day to tell us yet. My guess is we won't see it for another two weeks.

That's if it's for the PC....

If you want to include the XBOX and PS3, it needs to go through both Microsoft and Sony certification processes at the end.

Last thing we heard was that it was still going through the Sony certification process.

And since DLC is a very new business model, with a limited audience (only the people who've already bought the game and are comfortable buying things over the internet), I'd guess they want to go for a simultaneous release to maximise their publicity of it (who knows if there is any marketing budget allocate to promote the DLC).

I have to question why Bioware would make each, platform-specific release, dependent on another platform's certification process?  If you intend to release anything post-title, why would you force customers to suffer for a specific platform's certification process?

Because doing PR for one release is a lot easier than three seperate ones (as Torias points out) and there may be contractual issues as well.

Seeing as this is the first full business day after the Christmas holiday, I'm willing to bet we may hear something soon.

Point well taken.  I suppose I still question why anyone would ever become dependent on an entity outside of their control.  As an engineer, I always tend to think that a modular approach where one would keep each unique entity independent is better than a single point of failure.  Its less risky and you're able to obtain revenue despite a setback on one platform's certification process.  : )  Cheers.

Yeah well ... thing is just they made a big do about their DLCs and how DA will be regularly supported by DLCs for over one year.

As of now we do not even have ONE reasonable DLC that wasn't available from the beginning or even included in some deluxe edition. I mean I delayed playing for quite some time (meaning not not playing, but playing slowly, but even so the end draws near) to NOT finish the game before some DLCs come out, but if it continues in this vein I will just finish the game and not care about the DLCs anymore and I planned on buying them all.

Yeah, yeah, yeah I could replay the game just so I can ALSO play 2 hours of DLC or what, but frankly I have more going on in my life than wasting my time for that. And yes, you can all flame me to death and say you don't care, but Bioware should care anyway because its supposedly their brand spanking new, oh so great buisness modell and it is a buisness modell which is about to fall flat on its face, because I'm sure that a significant amount of DA customers just won't care anymore if it continues in this trend ... maybe not now, but with the next DLC or the next.

P.S. Maybe it would be more clever to do it like Fallout 3 and create DLCs that play AFTER the main game and not DURING the main game, because those will be interessting even for those who have finished the game once or twice ...

I'm not understanding your reasoning here. The plan was for one to two years of DLC. If you're not going to replay the game, how was this plan going to benefit you anyway?

As well, the Warden's Keep was the first DLC for the game. The only reason it was available on launch day was because of the delay in the PC launch. The game's not even two months old, and there's another DLC on the way. There has been a minor delay due to technical issues (and yes, it's only a minor delay). I just don't see the problem here.

Yeah well ... you do not see my reasoning here and I do not see your reasoning there ...

But after I bought all the available DLC up to now (and btw nearly any Bioware Game since your company exists .... NWN + 2 Addons, NWN 2 + Addon, Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect) ... you won't see ANY MORE of my money if you just wipe away my arguments with a snide "i don't see your reasoning here" ...

Come to think of I will cancel my order for MASS EFFECT 2, because just not seeing the reasoning of a disgruntled customer is just no way to go ...

Don't think of this as rude...but go right ahead and cancel your order for Mass Effect 2...what is it going to hurt them? I'm buying 3 of them...so....good luck to you. Hopefully you will find something else you like.

I have yet to witness an instance when threat tactics from one individual is persuasive.  If anything, it lessens the community's credibility and makes us appear immature and ignorant.  If you want to express your rage and/or frustration, you'll find people tend to respond much better to logic, maturity, and common sense.

Yep agreed, MMO's are the only form of gaming that can get away with monthly fee's, and they most of the time do weekly game updates or at least ionce a month. Plus also most times things that expand the game with mmo's are most of the time free because of the monthly fee.

Just keep calm all my fellow PC gamers seems the main hold up for release is sony certification for the ps3. I'm sure they will get it out as soon as they can. :)

i dont think you can measure the quality of DLC content by one factor such as added gameplay time.

anyone who is doing so are being rather petty, and imo just looking for whatever fault they can latch onto to justify a complaint.

imo new gear, more gameplay and a good addition to the current epic story will be more than welcome at a measly 5 bucks. im now trying to wait patently as "the holiday" is quickly drawing to a close.

i really agree with u up there when u mentioned how PC gets extras.. that is the foul.. the paverbial broken law. i dont believe it right for any console to have extra just because of the platform.. thats discremenation because of relationship standings with what platform they have contracts or grants or funding from- they shouldnt get a exclusive special bonus just because they want to play FAVORTISM!

I just want to point out that your complaints are not even aimed at the right targets. Eurypterid is not a BioWare employee to my knowledge. He is a moderator. He has no more say in what BioWare does than we do. While he does represent the company in some way on the forums by moderating for them, that does not make him equivalent to someone in public relations or development.

It's just like one big happy family, next we can all hold hands and sing songs, I think that will give Bioware something to think about, eh?

You do know why the DLC has been delayed right? It’s primarily because of the user base, ****ing in this vary thread.

We ask for a price drop they give us one. I’m sure something like that take time to clear with the heads, and they can’t just drop DLC if the price is in the air.

We than ask for more content in the DLC, so they add some doodads here and there, items they probably had on the back burner for other DLC.

Than we **** about Achievements/Trophies. So what do they do, they hem and haw, but they give it to us.

Now I’m no game programmer, BUT I assume all of that takes time. And I don’t believe Microsoft of Sony, would be into much of a hurry to re-certify something they just did. Oh and I can’t see that there too thrilled about the price drop ether.

Any delays can in large part be blamed on. . . OH the fan base, and Microsoft/Sony but not Bioware. But if you don’t want to see that and hold to your ignorance, and judge a game, with a different team behind it, one that is going to have so much content mind you that its going to come on two disk, than by all means hold true to your ignorance. I’m sure that your $60 in the long run will mean vary little to them
