I have a question:

Is it a complete adventure within itself? By this, I mean depending on the choices you make while there do you see the whole scope of the story and when you're done with it - it's fully completed?

Reason I ask is while I enjoyed Warden's Keep, albeit rather short, the one thing that really ticked me off about that dlc is pending on your choices you made you were told more would transpire at a later time yet it never does. I would rather avoid content that leaves one feeling it isn't finished or leaves stories unresolved like that again.

Trust me, as the creator of the Witch's Wake module for Neverwinter Nights, I know all about the frustration of unresolved stories. There's a longer story behind how Warden's Keep ended up that way (and no, it isn't a matter of the content being cut) but I'll leave that for another time. Return to Ostagar definitely provides a sense of closure and won't leave you hanging like we unfortunately had to do with Warden's Keep.

Ooh let me tell you how much I loved Witches Wake and how dissapointed I was when the Story didn't continue.I was so hoping it would eventually go on,but it never did.

So I am glad that you are bringing all new content for Dragon Age at a steady pace.Thank you for that.Image IPB

You know what's really sad?  These guys are more interactive with the community than some companies running mmorpgs are.

Certainly a compliment to Bioware but it just amazes me how some companies handle customer interaction compared to others.

If that last few years of game developers, even some good ones, shutting their doors and closing up shop was not enough to convince you skeptics that the old business model was broken and in need of fixing, nothing ever will. DLC is here to stay. Times change and if a business doesnt adapt they get left behind. I also think some of you have pretty unrealistic expectations of what added content should cost. Something that tends to run true across many professions.

yeah and a lot cheaper even an hopur worth of content for $10 is better than $10 for a pet in some other well known game.

For those who have completed the game, you will be able to return to Ostagar from your Epilogue Save.

What about players who committed the Ultimate Sacrifice? If a DLC/Expansion does not cater to all possible scenarios pertaining to what is purportedly a "Role-Playing" game it becomes irrelevant and unappealing.

Pretty much why I still love Bioware and haven't given up on them after this blunder of a DLC.

What about it?  Epilogue save is set before the events of the Battle of Denerim.

$5 for 1 hour of gameplay? Won't be paying for this one, though I definitely have the money for it.

Regarding voice acting, it's definitely one of our major development expenses, particularly when you realize that we have to hire additional voice actors for all of the different languages in which the game has been released. We ran some initial experiments with a voice-less version of Return to Ostagar and ultimately decided that we just needed to bite the bullet and go for it - it just didn't feel right for the followers not to be able to react in a voiced manner to the emotionally charged situation in which they find themselves. Note that we had to make this decision before DA:O's launch, without sales figures to help guide us. In the end, I'm glad we were able to find room in the budget to make it happen as the results are great.

.

Theres an easy way to fix your problem of having to hire additional voice actors. Hire Michael Bell Image IPB. The guy did Papa Smurf and Duke from GIJOE, hes the man of many voice (quote from Rene Auberjonois). And before anyone accuses me of it, yes I am trying to get Michael Bell And Simon Templeman together in the same room again lol. They're funny together and always good in blooper reels.

If it has more Alistair vocal interaction in it. I'm there with bells on.

lol That's so true ^_^ And no this has nothing to do with the general Alistair obssession, his voice actor is just so superb!

Hmm...I just checked, you're right, although the fact that the name is prefaced by the word Epilogue doesn't make it intuitive.

I would have to add my voice to many others that I was disappointed in the lenth of Wardens Keep. I would also have hoped that RTO would have been longer. I will still buy it for many reasons, but Please in the future provide longer game play. Even if that means the DLC does not come out as quickly. I love things that take me a long time, keep me entertained and occupied for as long as possible. That is why I have put well over 100+ hours into the game so far. I remember when I played Final Fantasy VII the clock stopped tracking how long I spent on the game at 299 hours and I kept playing for at least a month. Please bring more long term content.

Don't say you can or will have some money issue if you work to much on a DLC, because 1 million dollars is a lot imo >.> http://g4tv.com/thef...1-Million-.html

Unforunately, never too sure how much it cost to develop/deliver, and how much of the retail game budget was subsidized by DLC expectations.  It's an interesting number all the same though.  Course that's more a discussion for the economics of DLC thread than this one :).

God... this thread is an epic failure due to the massive population on these forums, many many many good questions will go unanswered...

Heres another one

Will companion characters have any special dialog? I figure the answer is no because it would involve getting back the voice actors, which I imagine isn't an easy task. BUT Warden's Keep did have voice overs... so it's not impossible.

Lol, Oghren had the best line in Warden's Keep. I always wondered what these fantasy heroes would do if they were gassy or had to take a s*** before a fight. Now I know how they prepare.

Hehe, that's really funny, because it was already answered in this thread.  Yes, there is dialog, specifically mentioned companions that were around during the first visit to Ostragar.

I'd like to throw my 2 cents in by saying keep up the good work Bioware. DA:O is an amazing game, and I'll gladly pay $5 for anything that expands the world of Ferelden.

Thank you for the replies Rob, but I'm probably going to have to pass on Return to Ostagar. I just don't feel the amount of content I'd get for the price is enough.

Thats awesome! I was worried about how Warden's Keep would play out... I was afraid it would kinda stick out and feel out of place and static. I was wrong! It felt very implace with the rest of the game, and having all my companions comment on it played a big part in that.

To put things into perpective for those that don't like the cost...

How long would $5 last you at Dave and Busters? ;) Not an hour, i'm sure.

Not only do I see this cost as a purchase of additional content/lore, but I also see it as an investment towards the future of this game (expansions and such).

Yep.

I have been trying to think of the last time I had someone at Rob's level pop into a public forum and give out so much information so honestly.  Took a pair to honestly release those play times, etc., to this crowd.

Kudos.

You'll get my $5.
