So your saying tweeking isnt fixing? And i didnt mean they were adding to the dlc i meant that they had some fixing to do and they're lowering the price, and also somewhere early on in here when rob said they wouldnt be adding an achievement for this dlc some people were a little upset (not neccesarily angry) all im saying is they are trying to accomodate everyones needs and by doing that everyones getting more angry. I think the only dlc debate worse than this is when people think that "map packs" should be free

Yes that's what I'm saying. Only the 360 version had a problem, as far as we know anyway, and that needed fixed. Tweaking would be changing things about the DLC and the closest they came to that is adding achievements from what Rob said. Some have been getting angry but most just want to be updated since it's been 17 days since the last time Rob posted in here. An update isn't asking for much of anything and isn't an unreasonable request I don't think.

Most of the anger I've seen has been people getting angry because others are posting just to call them childish names and tell them to get over it when all they've been asking for is an update. We all know it won't be out this week barring a belated Christmas miracle. People just want someone in an official capacity to say as much and most of the posting will stop on this thread.

That's my .02 at any rate.

EDIT: Ah, I see. Missed the "small improvements" part of his post. I stand corrected on that point. :)

They weren't tweaking anything. They
added achievements (because that's apparently what they got out of
people complaining about $5 for one hour of gameplay and a few items),
and found a problem in the 360 version that needed to be fixed. Those
achievements are what caused the DLC to have to go back through
certification. Nothing was being added. Nothing was being changed. They
just added code for achievements.

Hi everyone. Sorry for not popping in and providing another update sooner. Based on some of the feedback in this thread, we made the decision to revisit Return to Ostagar and make some small improvements, including the addition of a new Ostagar-specific achievement/trophy and a reduction in the price. This has required a patch/title update and some additional testing and certification. This has pushed our dates back and I can confirm that the PS3 version will not arrive until the New Year. For PC and X360, we're still working hard to get it out in time for Christmas but we're not out of the woods quite yet. We'll put out another press release once we're 100% confident of the dates.

Thanks for your patience and I hope you enjoy the adventure once it's finally available.

For Ferelden!
Rob

Uh huh.

Tass.. no matter how many times this is posted, it just seems to get looked over by the brick walls around here.  It's sad that some people just need Bartel to come on here, hold some hands, and say the exact same thing again to get satisfaction.

This should answer your "tweaking" concern and you concern for an answer from bioware

Why is everyone here when you could be rolling through another play-through of DAO? Come on now. :)

It's strange because no matter how many times I play through this game, i still find going through it again just as enjoyable. Great game.

isn't the game for windows system pointless?

More red tape to go thru...and even if it is a quality standard , i have seen many games being released with the logo on the box and the game was buggy as hell....

Just another ploy to have everyone who does software to group around microsoft and abide by their monopolistic views...

Here are the facts, as we know them, in list form:
  • The release time frame is "this holiday season".
  • The last time Rob posted about release dates he said they were working to get it out in time for Christmas for the PC and 360, but that the PS3 wouldn't be out til next year. Rob also said he'd post when they knew the release date for certain.
  • Holiday season is defined by dictionary.com as "the period of time from Thanksgiving to New Year's th[at] encompasses several celebrations."
  • Given the above definition "this holiday season" will be over on January 1st, unless Bioware is using a different definition that the dictionary uses which is not completely outside the realm of possibility.
Now, let's use a little bit of critical thinking here. Given the above four facts, it is highly unlikely that we will recieve both an announcement and a release in the next three days. (Two days for those on the opposite side of the globe from me.) In the 17 days that have passed since Rob's last post, which was about lunch and not the DLC, it's not unreasonable to assume that they finished whatever they were doing with the DLC and sent it off for certification. Thus it is out of their hands and in the hands of Sony and whoever does the certifications for the PC and 360 versions. I'm assuming that's Microsoft, someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Bioware knows, or at least has a rough idea, of how long certification takes. Especially given this post from Rob:

Rob Bartel wrote...

One possible solution (and it may
come to that) is that all content gets held until the PS3 version is
fully signed off. It's simply a matter of Sony's certification process
taking longer than those on the other platforms (PC is the quickest,
then Xbox, then PS3)
. Generally, we try to budget sufficient time in
our schedules to accommodate that but, in this particular case, our
late-stage changes started eating into that extra time that we had set
aside. As a result, a Christmas release of the PS3 version became
impossible. Right now, we're on the knife edge to see if we can get the
X360 version out in time - they did find a critical issue that we're
currently working hard to fix. PC still appears to be on track but
anything can happen.

A post that many people conveniently overlook because it says "Christmas release", which destroys their argument that "holiday season" doesn't mean Christmas through New Years.

Now, if there were nothing but posts from people that boiled down to "We want it now. Whaa, whaa, whaa." You all would have a point about impatient people. Here in the real world, however, most of the posts have boiled down to "Can we at least get an update, even if it's just saying you still don't know the release date?".

I'm quite sure that I've completely wasted my time typing all of this out. After all I was called impatient for saying January 12th is probably closer to the release date than December 31st. And as a side note, this is not directed specifically at any one person so any who takes offense is looking for it where it doesn't exist and wasn't intended.

Indeed, and I'm jonesing something fierce for more DA content, but it'll be ready when it's ready. Besides, I have to go play Mass Effect again before ME2 is released in a few weeks.

I dont know what they did to the game but somehow through some way (most likely blood magic) they have successfully developed crack that is delivered through the gamers choice of platform. Now sure i've logged an excess of 20-30 days on cod4 but thats multiplayer i dont know of any other game that i would replay the campain numerous times besides DA:O (not really a campaign but you get my point) My least favorite part of the game is when you are in the fade for the "broken circle" quest. So my first play through as a mage i obviously sided with the mages, but my second play through i need the mages so they can help with a certain trouble at redcliffe, but im an achievement hore so i played it through once killing wynn and all that jazz then i reloaded and played through the whole mission...and enjoyed it greatly

Sorry a little off topic but hey atleast its not another complaint:D

Never played ME and I'm still debating on ME2.. They both look like shooter games and I've never been able to get into those. How does ME compare to DA? Other than one being fantasy and the other more sci-fi(?), are they similar in any way?

Yeah, me too. I'm running out of RP ideas, and there isn't enough freedom for me to RP as a pirate who answers everything with "Arrr", and "Shiver me timbers"... :(

I built one for $500 that can run it on high settings just fine. No need to waste 5k. Much cheaper to build your own, and it's easy enough my 7 year old could do it as long as he had instructions to follow when putting it together.

Hmm I'll look into it. I need to build or buy a brand new pc. My current one is ten years old.. and it runs a pent 4.. and DAO needs a pent 4 quad xD

I actually greatly enjoyed the shooter elements in ME. It's still your standard story-driven BioWare RPG, but it's got guns. Awesome guns. There are few things that make me cackle with glee, gunning down sentient robots with a shotgun is one of them.

It's a much shorter game than Dragon Age, but I loved the story. It's just a fun science fiction RPG, and your main character has a voice. I would suggest the PC version, since its UI is much easier to navigate through mouse and keyboard than the 360 controller.

The music is pretty kickass too, and I quite enjoyed the voice acting. You might feel a little disappointed if you compare Kaidan to Alistair, so don't. Compare him instead to Carth from KotOR, and then you'll be happy. As with all BioWare games, it's easy to fall in love with the universe, and I'm more excited for ME2 than I have been for any game since Ocarina of Time.

Try not to think of ME as a shooter, it's not Call of Duty. Also, the sex scenes are way more tasteful in ME, and not awkward like Dragon Age. That music ruins it every time.

but i know what your saying im currently playing on the 360 as well:D

Really? my last pc, which was also my first pc lasted for over a decade as well. I believe that computer started with windows 93, then 95, then 98, and the cooling fan was being held to the frame by some electrical tape and twine.. I think we finally chucked that one uh.. three years ago.

This one is a sony, the OS is XP, and besides having a pent 4, it also has a Nevida TNT graphic's card I believe xD
