Bioware can't talk at the moment. They're too busy with Mass Effect 2 hype and holidays. This forum will likely be amalgamated with the Mass Effect forums some time in the New Year, in preparation for ME2 - and then Dragon Age will fall in to back ground noise. "Two years of DLC"? Yeah... ah... no.
Mass Effect 2 should see Bioware at the forefront of the gaming scene well into 2010, and then SWTOR will start to ramp up mid-year, launching late 2010; and once that happens, all efforts will be on "keeping up with the Joneses" so as to speak, with their MMO.
It was good while it lasted, guys, but after Return to Ostagar comes out I wouldn't be holding your breath.
Heh, if you remember how long they give support, updates, new modules and all new stuff in NWN1 you might think again.
There is NO WAY that Bioware will abandon a game after 2 month from it's release. I can understand your comment, because it show this is your first game you bought from Bioware. But this is not EA or Atari. They actually answer (I have not yet get any answer from EA helpdesk and I bet they will NOT answer even if I wait for year) and try to help.
I am not saying that they do not do this for money also. But best job is if you get pay from something what you love to do and our doctors are smart enough to realize that they do not p** in they serials.
After watching this firm over 10 year I can guarantee that they WILL take care from DA:O bit longer then 2 month. Now if you want to argue feel free to give some examples (Like BG, NWN1) and show HOW they have not kept supporting they games more then 2 month since release.

You are absolutely correct. BioWare is chosing to be silent. It's a policy they do over and over again whenever they cannot deliver stuff which they've promised. It's a dishonest business parctice which will continue until they abandon the hype cycle marketing or until their customers have enough of it. I don't think those events will happen. BioWare believes they can do whatever they want to their loyal customers because most of their customers don't read these forums or internet news related to the game. Of course the media don't report it and won't make an issue of it, because they fear they'll lose the orchestrated scoops.Foreman20 wrote...
The concern is BioWare's pattern of falsehoods IMO. The Mass Effect claims which also had videos only to be taken out of the game before luanch. The promise that Mass Effect would have lots of DLC to bridge the gap between it and Mass Effect/2. This holiday season promise WITH a 17 day lack of communcation. The problem is not with this forums posters it's with BioWare's silence and lack being able to say what you mean and mean what you say IMO.
Anyone who brings it up in the forums is immediately called childish and whinners and i forgot what else. Oh yah go out get a life read a book have sex etc.
Fans are sometimes detrimental to a company.

If they were really on a time one of BioWare's employers would have simply posted that there is no need to worry as a response to the concerns in this thread. They had more than half a month now to type a simple one sentence response. They didn't. So they'll obviously don't make it in time.Rithgor wrote...

Will that REALLY make you happy if someone from Bioware log in and ONLY write "Hello" here? Honestly?
What it really give any of you? If they do not have any new news then why bother to write here "hello" or "no new info atm." or "we are doing it still" or idiotic phraces like that.
If someone promise for me that they will do something during holidays and holiday season ends 2.1.2010 then I would be quite angry and asking for them WHY they keep bugging me and calling, telling information like "hello, nothing new, just wanted to call and tell AGAIN that we will bring you product before 2.1.2010 when holiday season end". Now IF they would call and tell me "sorry, it seem that because of Sony we can not send you stuff we promised before 2.1.2010" I would be happy and understand WHY they bother me during this holiday time. Also if they would call and say "your order is ready" I would be happy.
I hope you fellows see my logic. There is really NO need to tell things like "we are doing our job and hey folks it IS still holiday season but I spend my working hours just to write this for you in forum instead of doing work you are expecting me to do"

We've got a team of about 25 people working tons of hours (I think that the game is now reached over 1200 man hours in the first semester), so I understand (on a smaller scale) what you guys are going through. There's always some damn bug, or the build gets broken, or art assets get screwy, or whatever that delays the game. It just happens. So, good luck with Ostegar and ignore the nay-sayers, man. There's plenty of us out here that support you guys and, some of us even understand the divorce making process that goes into these games.
So you support keeping quiet and pretending a deadline didn't exist if you were to miss it for whatever reasons? Or do you think it's just simpler to spend 5 minute to update the waiting people?

During these around 6 year when they did Dragon Age: Origins was there ANY time when they did not write update from they work atleast once per 2 week? If it happen then why, god name why it upset you now so much? Why they have to tell you every 2 week that there is no new news? Do you think that being professional mean that you need to tell everyone every week what you have done?
I expect them to tell AFTER 2.1.2010 what is going on IF they can not publish it by then. OR I expect them to tell before IF it get ready. That I call professional working. There is no need to bother me daily telling "nothing new but I just log in to write HI".

Okay--enough shadenfreude...Sometimes it's just fun to see people tally up a long post count. This thread gets nearly 15 fresh pages of "they suck" per day. I feel for them...
At the end of the day it probably was not good business practice to say "Holiday Season 2009" for this DLC. Anyone who's anyone would have said that meant by 12/25. Even us Jews know that holidays means "Christmas." Excuses for January 1 are noted. We could argue moon calendar dates and solstice times as well. But really, they did nail themselves in the foot a bit here. A better target would have been "coming this winter". That would have been fine.
All that aside, would someone please point me to a business that operates normally during the "Holidays" ? I am a physician at an honest to goodness, open 24/7/365 (occasionally 366) facility (an academic teaching hospital in Jacksonville, FL). But even I have to face shortages in staff in a must-provide, can't be closed environment. If the holiday season can affect us in healthcare, how can anyone expect retail industry to continue bravely marching forward as if there were no holiday about?
Calling BW useless, unfaithful, or any other insults is honestly more insulting to those of us who keep trying to read this thread for "official news". Keep in mind a lot of the "official word" must be vetted by executives who, in all likelihood, are off spending happy bonuses somewhere in the tropics. If they (the execs) aren't working (and they're not), the commonguys at BW keeping the watch aren't going to make much headway now that the "Holidays" are upon us.
Let me tell you: as a business, BW is top notch. I've PM'd devs with usually quick responses to comments or questions. I HAVEN'T PM'd this regarding this tidbit, though, since I'm sure they're feeling the heat from both ends.
In short: expect a rush of communication starting on or after January 4th, when the world suddenly wakes up from winter breaks, and seizes a chance to operate normally again.
For now, I'm off to complete my shift. 'cause someone's gotta work

The problem with your theory is that the last update our good friend Rob said that PS3 most definitely make it for christmas. Xbox and PC we're still keeping our fingers crossed. Now that christmas is over wouldn't it make sense for him to update with. Guess what folks the PC and Xbox didn't make it either.

As a retail employee, I would love to take boxing day off. You know, not have to face idiots wanting cheap crap, and expecting someone to have to sell it to them. I would love not to have to be there 2 - 3 hours before open, to setup.
Same with game companies, we expect them to produce top notch products, on a timely basis, yet all we give them is flak for not doing it to our schedules.
65% of consumers have not worked a retail day in their lives I swear, as you can tell by their attitudes, and I can safely say that 99% of gamers have never had to have a game ready for their company on time also by their attitudes. If you want to help games come out on time, don't demand things in something that hasn't even hit the shelf yet.
The only fault Bioware has really made with Dragon Age is, that they have released the almost perfect game, and now they have to maintain and improve on it. That is a tough nut to crack right there, and I wish them luck. *please put more Norse and Saracen equipment in please* lol.

Walmart. Mad rush of customers aside, they are open on Christmas Eve til a certain time and reopen Christmas Day after a certain time. And if you work for them you will be working one day or the other, and you really don't much say in which day you work. (In the store I worked in anyway.)
