Which means it'll most likely be 5 Euro
Which means they'll change that into Swiss Franks using the simple x2 rule
Which means I'll be paying around 10$ or more
Buying points... this usually means you can only buy a certain amount, which will definitly not be even with the amount you have to spend, giving you leftover points.
No thank you. I've done DLC once, and am not doing it again.
A normal expansion, sure, DLC mini content, nope.

Tielis I agree. $5 or $7 isn't the issue. It's just change these days.
People are upset over "an hour to play through" because they would like more. Also, I'm not going to go to the epilogue save and just do one area for loot I'll never use again until the next DLC comes out. It's all meh.
This.
Also: comparing it to WK (where we get a complete new area) - in this new DLC they can use most of the original graphics ... it's just money making.
Wait until the DLCs of 2010: return to Lothering, return to flemeths hut and return to ostagar (inlcuding one complete new area)...
Why can't we just get add ons worth some 20 hours of gameplay and pay som $25 for it ...

Just to give people a smile and take away the tension:
In russian language if you read "mocha" with stress on the last letter then it will mean "******"
So don't spend your money on it, you never know what they put in it

But I was wondering, related to any sequel to DAO, does the DLC influence the starting point/level of an expansion. In other words if there will be a sequel will people who have not downloaded the DLC have a disadvantage over people who have or will the sequel be easier/ too easy for people who will have played all the DLC?

But $50 ≈ 120 hours? Or 80 hours?
I read some argue that $2 per hour would be fair. So what you are THEN saying is that charging $160 for the GAME entirely as it is now would be fair, or that take "40 hours" worth of content out of the game and then micromanage it back to you in small 1-hour segments for $1 dollar would be fair game?
Or am I missing something?

People will have to make their own decisions about whether or not the price is right for them. I was involved in the pricing decision and this is the price I recommended and felt was appropriate for the content and the amount of effort required to create it. But yes, we understand that $5 can be a lot for some people to pay.
Did you ever think of releasing this as 'Merry Xmas, fans', and 'thanks for buying our game and TWO DLC's we released already that should have been part of the box set....'
I love your game, but a little 'present' goes an awful long way...
Edit:
Hmm, the more I think about this, the more I think you are taking the p!ss. Is this a Bioware or EA tactic?

Incredibly disappointing.I suspect it would take a typical first-time player about an hour to complete.

To put things into perpective for those that don't like the cost...
How long would $5 last you at Dave and Busters? Not an hour, i'm sure.
Not only do I see this cost as a purchase of additional content/lore, but I also see it as an investment towards the future of this game (expansions and such).
$50 lasted me 55+ hours and counting.
Why must $5 only last me 1?
Hell, I'd get it if it was $2.50-$3.50, but not $5.
So you've been priced out by $1.50? Unbelievable.
A 3 minute song from itunes is 99 cents.
A 90-120 minute movie is $8-15 at a cinema.
A rental from blockbuster is what, $3-5?
And you're complaining that they're charging $5 instead of $3.50 for an hour long mission with voice acting, lots of combat, and new items?
Really?
I expect to pay about $100 when all is said and done for the game and it's DLC...I am easily going to spend 100-200 hours playing it over the coming year.
That's at the very most a dollar and hour. Not a lot of money, when you consider that's a few hours a day for months. DA is the equivalent of a favourite TV show.

all they have to do is take the ostergard area, put some new (same base different skin) monsters in there. make a (new?) boss.. which drops the king's armor... which they dont even have to design! cause its already in the original....
its already lame to return to the circle tower being a mage origin....

No, it's not "super easy".
And I for one like returning to areas and seeing how they've changed. Doing the mage origin gives more effect to the Broken Circle quest, because you can see how much damage has been done. For my warrior, it was just another dungeon filled with enemies.

It just doesn't sit well with me if this is going to be the trajectory of DA:O DLC. Have your horse armor, but throw us a bone and give us a Shivering Isles sometime.

Is this bugged to hell too?
Will we lose what we loot or will the npc go to an invisible town for us not to find them???
You suck with this post.
The guy who posted the first message tells us to ask any questions. We are asking for days but no replies from you irresponsible Bioware guys!!!!
I paid money for this game and i still didnt get any answers any mails or any messages or any support. Instead of playing my game for hours i am googling for some troubleshooting to your f.kin bugs for hours. And with accepting to buy your game we made an agreement that made me click "I Agree" when i started the game. If you know some law, you agree those rules before you publish this game. I have some rights as a buyer. And if there is not any support, patch, answer, a small refreshing topic about these bugs; i will do what i can to get my money back. Instead of lots of players, i know my rights, and i really know how to use them. It is very annoying. Noone makes an explanation. I understant you are now celebrating those high review rates and dont want to ruin them with your bug patch news in your official site. But there must be a way to solve those problems. In every game Bioware in, i absolutely fall in love with the screneraio or the art (Neverwinter Nights, Baldurs Gate). But after a few days, my heart is broken so badly. I think this is what love is. Do something Bioware instead of releasing new ****!

There have been DLCs that have been a worse deal than this (horse armor) and better deals (The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony come to mind) but I just wish we were getting more, even if it cost a bit more. I'd feel a lot more comfortable paying 10 dollars for 5 hours of content than 5 dollars for 1, and rightly so as it's a much better value. I also doubt that once you have the voice actors in the studio and the art assets generated, that the extra depth would've come at an equally greater expense.

Well, they already said that they are working on more content, both cheaper and more expensive than this one, so I'd say there is going to be lots of stuff to choose from ranging from as little as $3 all the way to as much as $20-30.

If they want to go all out with this, giving us 100+ hours of content over the next couple of years in DLCs of various sizes ultimately costing ~$100, I'd be into it, I just don't want to get a bunch of this sort and end up paying $100 for 20 hours of content.

Has that ever happened in any other game ever?
DLC never sells as well as an original game...because some people will just buy it cause it's new and get's great reviews, then walk away.
You're asking them for DLC that totals 100+ hours worth of content in an age when games like MW2 have campaigns that struggle to hit 10 hours.
Your asking them to basically spend the same amount of resources they used up creating DA:O in the first place to create something only DA owners can buy.
I'd say your best bet is skipping over DLC like Warden's keep and wait for the more substantial stuff. If you don't have Stone Keeper, it's worth getting. Once RtO is out, you can get a feel for what it includes and decide if you want that, or will wait for something bigger.

Seems just to be another reason to make money here. im not that intrested in getting to the battlefield, why would I? are you kidding me? who did I meet at the battlefield that I miss talking too? and second, is this the best idea bioware has about what they think people wanna experience from bioware DLC?
Duncan and Cailan is dead, and wearing their armor make no sense didnt the monster crush Cailian? shouldnt his armor also be destroyed then?
And people goes around and accuse you for betraying the king and then you walk aroun with his armor, ye, you clearly thought this through bioware...

Exactly what I was pointing out few pages back...but nobody seems to care (my post was completely ignored) since its the price and principle that matters the most...and stiiil, eeeveryone underlined that ITS THE STORY AND PLOT that is so amazing in this rpg pinnacle of a game. Story, reason and logic behind this dlc are something I cannot grasp...apart from "lets throw some leftovers and increase the speed of the money sucking machine"...money making money taking.Raxtoren wrote...
The issue just isnt about price, is anyone really amazed about this DLC?

This isn't about money or time or conent. It's about respect. It used to be that developers would release something like this as a thank-you gift to the fans.
